It's right now we want to get to Mindy myself she is in media relations director for an excellent organization world vision it's a Christian humanitarian organization.
She is there with us on the set in New York City and and maybe I would like to talk a little bit about what our viewers that are watching this on line that are in the line of this storm.
What they need to be doing at this hour if they haven't already evacuated.
OK Casey a lot of people have been asked to evacuate in just the last 24 hours and that's what world vision is doing right now is kind of working with different.
Response teams -- a homeless shelters and not homeless -- but response.
Areas that are basically working with these people to be able to make sure that they have that resource is that they need right away.
What our response teen -- is actually right in the thick of things right now this morning.
-- what we did was we had our response team over in the Bronx area basically.
Kind of gathering together reading a lot of our pre -- supplies to be able to send right out to many of these shelters.
To be able to help different families and children who need these products right away.
But what we weren't expecting with -- the floodwaters from going to be impacting much of the area that we are working in right now.
In the Bronx are New York site.
Was basically surrounded by floodwaters from the East River and our -- actually had to evacuate this morning to come back into the Manhattan area wounding many of our prepositioning supplies over in the Bronx area.
Fortunately world vision is prepare for these type of things so we have.
Many of our pre -- products all up and down the East Coast -- we have another facility in DC that is ready to go with hundreds of different relief supplies.
We also have our disaster headquarters in north Texas that has thousands of pre -- relief supplies that are ready to go and are being sent.
As of today to many of these sites that we work and how World -- Other relatives he -- Maybe I'm sorry erupt but they -- ready to be deployed everywhere and I and I see those things that are right there and point of view.
He kind of show us what you have what kinds of supplies that people are needing the things that you are distributing.
Say that these are great items to be able to put put into the hands of people who need them right away you're looking at right now.
Us two different -- that we've got one as the flood -- but the bucket there but the five gallon bucket that were able to.
Austin chalk full of different cleaning supplies so that people who were impacted by these floodwaters.
Have very quickly the cleaning supplies they need.
As you know many of the stores have been swamped over the last 48 hours with people who are trying to get not only.
-- cleaning supplies but different items like food in their house.
The other item that's right next to it is actually the food kit that we have this is an emergency -- kit that's prepared to fund a feed a family of five.
-- of a whole day what we do -- we get these into the hands of people who need them right away.
And then -- so important because you talk about sort of the pandemonium there.
You know all of -- down and the Gulf Coast people are familiar with this they go through this a couple of times a year this is a little bit unusual some of the forecasters have been using some pretty scary words saying that this is an epic storm.
And it's really been a scene of pandemonium that I've seen some video stuff on social media of people trying to snatch up bottled water and just milk bread.
The basic necessities because folks don't know how long they're gonna be without power and they don't know how long this could -- right.
Exactly we don't even know how much are in our own team will be affected for example I live here in the New York area.
And I was one of those folks last night having to make sure I had enough food and candles on hand to be able to -- prepare my bathtubs full of water ready to go just in case we lose.
All all power in all water.
One of the kids that I want to show you two that's important is right in front of me this is a hygiene kits and basically some of that.
So that the things that when people run out the door and have to go to a shelter at the last minute.
These are some of the items that don't need right away they're Champloo razors basically items that she would need.
If you had to leave -- absolutely nothing on you and get to a shelter.
This is a critical time Casey I mean I haven't seen anything like this in quite some time.
World vision of course has responded to hurricanes before we haven't seen anything like this -- this magnitude for many many years.
Of course we responded to Hurricane Katrina back in 2005 and if your number this past year.
Least ends up -- the celebrating the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
And even though I wasn't -- part of this organization at the time.
What -- we sure all remember those images and what happened there we're hoping and praying that's not the type of response we have to respond to here with hurricanes certainly.
I don't know we're certainly -- We're we're hoping and praying for that as well --
