Smith -- New York this is breaking news coverage of the monster storm this taking aim at the East Coast right now.

Sandy is no longer a hurricane but forecasters say.

Its winds are still as strong as a hurricane it just no longer has tropical characteristics.

It is the most powerful storm to hit the region since they started keeping track.

Tonight officials are blaming the storm for at least one death in Maryland.
