And Martha and I noticed it in the paper today by the way I love breezy point the pastor out there monsignor -- is -- very close friend.
I'm worried because they can't get in touch within the last time I -- him he said I'm staying out here with my people we know the devastation there and I just trust he's well.
But Martha what do you say our hearts are broken when you see the loss of life the grieving families.
The devastation in the -- nation people without their cherished possessions in their homes.
But throughout all of it to you begin to see -- -- all of lying to an end and hope.
People coming together.
There's two things it can happen in -- tragedy either we can become selfish we can become violent we can be every person for himself.
Are we can pitch yen in solidarity in community to help one another to rescue and another -- -- god that's what's happening.
-- throughout Connecticut throughout New Jersey -- here within our beloved New York.
Once again the best the most noble sentiments of people.
Are coming out as people -- her role we can generous in serving those in need so even in the midst of our two years.
There's a smile on our faces we thank god that that beautiful good noble side of people seem to be dominating.

I didn't look at what's going on what is your plan and and do you plan to get out there and and see some of this first.
Yes as you know Martha we've all been somewhat house -- these days I've been do and I've been a telephone jockey trying to call as many people as possible.
This morning we got around -- some of the police -- -- police.
Precincts in the fire department just to make sure everybody was okay.
I was thrilled to hear from Catholic Charities -- -- Catholic health care networks that all of our facilities are open running in welcoming people.
-- need tomorrow please -- and that it ought to Staten Island which was so devastated.
And this afternoon I hope to visit some of the shelters that are serving people so well.
You know -- say when you look at some of this and I know when you get it.
Firsthand look at it it's going to be shocking to you as well and you're not from New York but you know we all have embraced and having you here that we think of -- as a new Yorker now what about that spirit of this community in new York New Jersey in the surrounding states in Connecticut Long Island.
Have you learned about the people here as you have work.
To its phenomenal -- beat you know I learned about it from distances the rest of the country and indeed the world did after 9/11.
I I heard about it as -- from -- distance now I see it firsthand and I'm not surprised any other time.
In the almost four years and -- had the honor to be archbishop in New York the tragedies happen.
At people who just eager to help the people rally around there's a real sense of what.

In in love and support it we've got it here in New York that's our trump card.
