Hurricanes know no boundaries they don't discriminate consequently.

Relief supplies were destroyed in hurricane creating unexpected challenges for world vision disaster response teams Mindy my cell is here now she's -- media -- relations director for world vision US.

Maybe for -- thank you for being here with us and I understand your site was damaged.

Yeah unfortunately on Monday morning one of our sites that has housing.

Thousands of pre -- relief supplies in the Bronx the East River actually start to rise so quickly that we decided -- our response team.

We anticipated going back and there's going to be okay because we hit elevated them off the ground and thought that be enough.

But unfortunately three defeat four feet of water had actually use flooded our building.

Damaging several hundred relief supplies on the bottom level.

At this point today we're spending most of our time trying to get these salvageable supplies out of that subsite into another site that's nearby.

But it is devastating -- -- you know this was our number one site in the New York area to be able to use to respond.

Fortunately though we -- several different sites throughout the country that are also home pre positioned.

The units that can basically deploy quickly into this area so we have a site in DC that has thousands -- supplies as well one in north Texas.

And those supplies right now are -- route.

There and -- continue that's good news so you have.

Some some examples of the types of supplies that are you normally don't -- out.

And distribute during times like this can you tell me about -- right here exactly got three different types he's of the main ones we're gonna be using for the initial phase of its responsibilities are different kits we have a flood cleanup kit.

But basically we'll have.

I'm cleaning supplies in there for families who are impacted in their homes with flood damage.

Making use of supplies to clean up their home we have a hygiene kit for those who are having to -- shelter outside of their homes that they can use Champloo.

Toothbrushes those kind of items that they would need in the first several hours of response we also have emergency food kits have basically enough food to feed a family of five -- -- day.

We're going to be handing these out to different churches and organizations that are right now working with.

Those who have been damaged by the storm.

Sitting you're able to get into the community and to get to those shelters -- churches so where it's going in -- is in need of some of these supplies they can go to those locations -- and get that can we help.

We partner with churches and organizations that -- with partner with -- disasters before and we have basically in network all along the East Coast that were coordinating with right now to try to get these supplies into those areas.

The first day stage though is the assessment -- trying to see what is the extent of the damage and which areas need these resources most -- If -- -- -- watching and windy if they want to help contribute and donate.

To help you guys get the much needed supplies out to the people we -- we have your website its world vision dot org.

However the route right now is being considered to be altered a little bit to it just for some of the damage around town.

Well mission actually has pretty strong team that's going to be kinda running this weekend.

And you know we want -- -- -- support them because they are raising money for a good cause.

We're looking at a possible -- of 20000 dollars being brought in through this fund raiser event so we do want the New York City Marathon to continue obviously.

The runners that are competing are trying to -- child sponsorship world vision.

So basically they are running for a good cause to try to raise attention for.
