Thank you now fires have broken out amid some of the ruins along the Jersey Shore them have a lot of fire problems from the gas lines you know they started overnight continue to burn in the afternoon.

The tiny town of -- allocating sits on a narrow barrier island -- about an hour drive south of New York City under normal conditions not an hour's five today.

Officials say fires that destroyed more than a dozen homes during the storm likely rekindled.

In another look at what the storm left behind here you can see the bridge into town is also damaged and that's made it difficult for firefighters to get to the scene.

Joins us now starting -- -- of -- I know how busy guys must be it all the fire departments and a first responders helping people out and in different towns and villages along the way what what are your biggest needs.

We we've actually had a lot of help -- from some of the surrounding towns from state.

The National Guard -- here helping us out.

This morning we were finally able to get down to our barrier island to to get some of the people that were left there and get the matter that we did all that today.

Yeah 36 hours down there but they were glad to see you.

Yes yes the we obviously had the mandatory evacuation down there are some big cheese steak but.

We took about sixty to seventy people out there today in and thankfully there were no injuries.

Oh man that's great I -- I was wondering if they've been able to get everybody out the sergeant.

It's going to be cold tonight it was forties last night thirties tonight.

-- very cold and down.

You know it's obviously no power down there it's -- section of of the barrier around which is about three miles you know heavily damaged.

What what -- Everybody around the country especially people who have lived through hurricanes in Florida Louisiana Mississippi out.

People places like that for years they they're asking what do they need I always say give money in the Red Cross with.

But what what are you guys in the.

If give Red Cross you know just to help we have a lot of people and some of the different shelters -- know -- you know ocean county here obviously there's a lot of shelter set up throughout state.

So yeah any type of -- help to the Red Cross to help you know beat these people and quote them I mean there's these people here -- obviously lost but everything.

And -- of this a little bit outside your wheel house but just as a resident there in a long time one.

I wonder can you see a time in the near future or or -- do you have a clue for win.

Regular services might be available again -- kids might be able to go to school life might get a little normal.

Well I.

I'm -- in you know the school here brick township though we've been -- a couple of them for shelters.

But we're we're trying to I get some people to some more the the bigger state shelters.

So hopefully we can you know clear that -- to get kids back to school were hoping to get things back to it as normal as possible within.

Hopefully by next week some time.
