Anyway tempers flaring along the East Coast over traffic jams long lines like this people lining up for blocks in Brooklyn and this is just a hitch a ride into work.
And for those lucky enough to get that ride we're hearing -- stories about commutes you could see the city.
Right it's it's just across the river four hours one way.
So what can officials do to help keep the -- times like this -- -- -- he's been.
Three term former Republican governor -- -- -- your acumen -- remember he was there for that little thing called 9/11.
But bottom line governor.
Well this is nothing approaching that now we are aware that it's -- -- cause serious dislocations.
For weeks maybe months to come.
Well hopefully not months but it is going to take some time but if you look at what has happened where only two days after the storm if that.
And some of the subways are running some of the commuter lines are running.
Power's being restored to large areas there are still a great many people hurting.
And we have to proactively reach out to them but I think we can have some optimism here.
For all the suffering we've been through that the steps are being taken and we will come back and any of this month you know you show that picture of the people waiting to go to work.
And I think that's just paid tribute.
To New Yorkers and two Americans you know instead of sitting home soaking they're putting up with these lines in the horrible commute.
To go to work and that's the way it should be and I I think it just shows the resolve of the people and it makes you -- Well you can flip that around soon not to dictated that there.
It scared they'd better.
Not not go to work right I mean that we live in an environment where job security is such that -- -- do anything.
To deal -- I guess what I was trying to say before governors this idea that the business impact of these severe a lot of business -- -- -- restaurants -- open -- you know.
Limited capacity.
So.
It for a city that thrives on that I mean that that's gonna have a big economic.
And -- no question and -- have a huge economic impact but there are programs out -- small business programs disaster assistance programs I know that.
We will be declared a disaster area and that provides for federal funding not just that.
Replace infrastructure or parts of homes that have been damaged that where it's appropriate but also the help -- businesses get back on their feet and I think.
It's a terrible economic hit but the important thing -- -- try to still make sure that people are safe and they're out of harm's way and I just saw your correspondent Hoboken.
What he is saying is very important if you're OK go check -- on me.
If you can do it safely see if there OK because.
People helping people don't figure it's just going to be the government that will take care of your neighbor it's what we do and it's what we do very very well.
You -- -- it didn't just up in the Republican Party over Chris Christie having the president over.
Two New Jersey he argued look you take -- where you can find it is urgent times Bloomberg past.
On a walk through with the president because he said it would -- just.
Created more commotion and -- and it was worth.
Are not Chris Christie.
Bad blood.
I don't I don't think so I think he's the governor of the state and an enormous crisis in the midst of that crisis you embrace everyone and and doesn't politics there -- -- -- when you have to get him everything absolutely does it.
Can a president withhold material -- president wouldn't -- it in that just that that just doesn't happen and I were very well with President Clinton and James Lee wit who who was his FEMA director.
And you do want to support from the federal government but the driving force of the local governments and the state government.
And it's the state government that requests the disaster declaration that asks -- to come and and I just can't conceive of him not coming -- in the face of the disaster -- -- all -- case of president and a -- concern -- and I'm not when it comes to disaster that will never happen we're better than that real quick thoughts on the -- five days -- -- -- well I'm optimistic I think people are realizing that we need in the direction in this country you just talked about the economic climate.
How hard it is to get a job or keep the job and I think that's the overwhelming issue in the American people's minds how we going to turn this economy around that hasn't happened in four years I think governor Romney gives us the best possibility to create that economic growth and jobs that we -- -- Governor thank you -- very much in the meantime.
