He's live in Boston -- governor Romney's family we'll gather later tonight John let's start there with -- yesterday was not the last day campaigning.
How did this decision to campaign today come about for governor Romney it's.
It's not over until it's over a billion.
-- -- we've talked to some campaign advisors who said that there sitting on the tarmac in Lynchburg Virginia is getting ready to go to Fairfax Virginia governor Romney said.
Goal I wanna -- the hotel room all day just wait for everything to happen you know I he's assertive and actually got this really fits in well this personalities this.
Let's do something tomorrow officers aware of a gallon the civil war about Cleveland trying to build up some of the numbers -- -- -- Madonna county maybe try to flip late caddie around from 2008.
He's a great idea let's go to Cleveland but.
Where else can we go it's another going to Pittsburgh as well on the they've got all -- as you -- going to both Cleveland and in Richmond that the governor really kind of pulling out all the stops.
To not let it ever be said that he didn't do all he could to get as many people like the polls.
As possible as he said in Columbus yesterday not only was he going to do that work but he imported supporters to do it as well.
Here's the governor.
Tomorrow we began a -- tomorrow.
Perhaps -- -- your friends and family not yet made up their mind who they're gonna vote for.
And so when you talk to them asked to look beyond the speeches on the ads and the attacks.
And -- look at the record.
Because -- -- talk is cheap.
But a record is real -- discern.
That's promised this is what we're way just if you thought it hasn't found -- back -- -- that as as Belmont Massachusetts only moments ago this is governor Romney and his wife and casting their -- for.
You can take one guess what's happening there this is in their hometown of Boston Massachusetts and John was explain to us how he's gonna make a stop today.
In Cleveland Ohio -- that is Cuyahoga County it's a hot -- of democratic votes you have to cut into those supposed to have a chance.
Then later he goes to Pittsburgh -- Allegheny county and if you look at the map the western part of PA from 2008 it was already at the sea of red with one exception.
And -- was Allegheny County were present Obama won there and he'll be there a governor Romney will about 3 o'clock the San.
Lot of discussion about Pennsylvania today and no one question being raised out there is his Pennsylvania.
-- election 2012.
Could Pennsylvania possibly be a place where this has decided all of this will be revealed -- the course of the day today.
But let -- look pretty casual they're they're not -- reacting to.
It is yes to clear the fact that they have governor Romney and mrs.
Romney in their midst they are treating them just like any other -- that comes through but man what it must be like to step in front of that.
-- and both for yourself.
Both for your husband as the Obama -- also did in their early voting pattern that they took part in of several days ago.
That it is and the live look now is we're gonna hang on this until they they leave the -- watching video now we believe they're still inside their -- wants the governor and this is -- -- a moment here.
When you think about how his campaign began some five years ago.
-- huge disappointment in 2008 when he failed to beat Mike Huckabee during the Iowa Caucuses in the battle for that race in 2008.
But the governor has since plotted and planned a strategy where he could have another shot not just at the nomination but a chance at the White House.
And those that -- that that that primary battle that was so bruising with Rick Santorum on one side Newt Gingrich on the other.
An occasional work Perry shot.
I here and there are governor Romney survive those those battles.
And then he moved into the general election gathered a lot of money raise a lot of money throughout the country.
Headed in this three critical debates in that first debate in Denver in early October was really something -- -- focus the attention of the country on him.
And on his campaign.
And now all of that stuff is on the table for American people to the side.
Whether or not this man will be -- next president.
And then they got smiles all around governor Romney -- his wife and have now placed their votes at historic moment for them.
For their family for the personal race that they have put in.
I -- Romney has been right by her husband's side throughout this whole process.
She's been called it points the -- stabilizer.
The person that was brought in to sort of be.
Her husband's inspiration and comfort and strength in so many moments and he would be the first one to say that that is the role that she is played throughout his life.
-- interesting things about governor Romney is that early on you -- you have to remember the midsection of this race when the big charge against him was that he would not connecting with voters.
-- in the last several weeks and certainly since the debate in Denver which was a huge breakout moment for him.
Has been connecting with these crowds in a way that we did not see early on.
Clearly enjoying the process of being out there with the people he's saying that door is open walk with me.
He -- been a visionary.
Kind of speaker in the past several weeks for the country whether or not that will work for him tonight of course remains to be seen.
But I think either way when we look back on his selection process we will say that the last several weeks we're definitely a period of strength for governor -- See if we can pick of any word as they exit here.
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
State of Massachusetts is not one of the eleven battlegrounds that we've talked about.
Endlessly now for the past six months it is quite likely Martha in a lot of the places that's not a battleground state that turnout could be lower.
Than expected but in this battleground states expect long lines throughout the day.
I just want to get a quick moment here to see if we get that.
So much for that John Roberts is still with us though John explain the rationale.
For what the Romney team tells you an order for them to be victorious today what key do they need to happen.
What what they really -- for their ground game to work in the -- -- -- Ground game to work flawlessly.
Basically -- -- to rack and stack them and get them out to the polls.
They've got a good ground game in some of the big battleground states it's a fairly new one -- by contrast.
There are a lot of states where President Obama never really left the states since the 2008 election.
And when you look at the early voting members places like Florida and Ohio Obama does have the advantage right now but that advantage smaller as would be in some cases by half by 50% of what -- was -- awaits.
Does governor Romney have a chance to take this yes he does does he have a lot of work to do today if he hopes to get it absolutely no thank you John John Roberts in Boston will be in contact with you -- -- move -- correspondent -- Chicago.
