Now Barack Obama obviously didn't work for -- but you have young people minorities especially the growth in the Latino population it could be decisive today Jenna.
And then you have young people especially the emergence of young women college educated women as a force in terms of American politics.
And that's the basic coalition behind pres Obama.
I remember being back in Iowa in 2008 for Fox News and I would go out and look at some of these campaign events for Barack Obama and just be stunned.
At how much people in Iowa and overwhelmingly white state.
Invested in him the sense of trust and -- simply wanted to touch and they were excited by his presence.
And when he defeated Hillary Clinton I remember being -- I would never have guessed that that was possible.
For an African American in Iowa so he does have a very special relationship with that state you know it's it's interesting -- to.
And back and 2008 and that moment in history that regardless of political party.
One can feel right which is to say oh yeah you're you're talking about now in Iowa specifically but -- cut across the nation.
It seems different this time around what I don't quite -- to you.
Oh well I think now the Obama campaign is really about.
Technology.
Out -- the very specific targeted manner they call it micro targeting you know you just had Karl Rove on he knows about this.
You what you're doing is you're identifying your voters -- going at your most likely voters you're making sure you reach them through social media Twitter FaceBook and the like.
And you're then saying to them go -- and reach their friends and you're making sure you get them to the polls.
That's what's going on here as opposed to the kind of national sensation rock stars and station that surrounded Barack Obama back in -- way.
As -- first you know in terms of African American as a sort of breakthrough after the bush years that's not what's going on here is that a bad day.
No I think it was inevitable in some sense I mean it would've been I think for President Obama ideal if you can retain that sense of magic.
But I think what we want -- hear from the president's perspective.
Was eight.
Choice selection.
And what you wanted from Mitt Romney's perspective was a referendum election a referendum on Barack Obama on the economy in the like.
And what president Obama's team has done is I think that very clearly made it into a choice election.
