We want to bring back and doctor Charles Krauthammer is standing by Charles I want pick up with -- and -- that.
We were discussing that packet out and and this question about whether Republicans need to reinvent the party now.
Since they've they've clearly suffered a loss tonight but.
You know the popular vote is split down the middle.
The electorate shows that the country is now dams plus six it's 3832.
Dempster Republicans.
And obviously in the swing states the Democrats have the advantage but when you have that the country so evenly split.
Do Republicans I think likely to start reinventing.
They aren't and they shouldn't I think this is just.
Panic reaction.
Look at this -- he you know if you have -- dichotomy.
Between the national which is split just about evenly.
And his swing states where there was on the campaign.
It tells you that Obama -- a better campaign.
So that's not a deep structural problem for the Republicans.
It means you gotta run smarter campaign.
You have to find a way to match the game the ground game.
And other tactical issues it was a lot of tactics involved here.
You know if there is one structural issue which I'll concede.
Republicans have to find a way to address Hispanics.
But now this has become this large issue you know we have to adapt.
To -- changing demographics are shrinking white population.
Know there's one specific constituency about Hispanics and Republicans have to rethink.
But other than that there's no great rethinking here's the problem.
We saw they actually -- -- people still believe that smaller government is better by a large margin.
And the Republicans have a party of small government.
They simply did not have the best candidate to articulate that Romney is -- a northeast liberal or moderate.
He did have a credible campaign he made the argument the best he could but it wasn't and natural to him.
You know he spoke conservatism as a second language.
And there were other dates younger generation of conservatives who want to mention earlier.
The rubio is the Ryans and others who are rising and who will be in the field.
Are the ones who can make that argument naturally and the country will welcome that argument particularly after a failed.
Second Obama term.
I just let me the one point before we move out of that is that that the numbers are showing now that President Obama got more.
Support from the Hispanic community this time around than he did the last 69%.
Hispanics backed him this time it was 67%.
Last time.
We can now that firm that governor Romney excuse me Charles we can now confirm the governor Romney has called President Obama to concede.
This race.
He is called President Obama we expect.
That governor Romney will be speaking in just a matter of minutes.
Charles reflect back on Romney's campaign if you will and well what went wrong then what went right.
Well art monk on a tactic dilution -- you -- and Hispanic vote as you mentioned to -- about the increase in Hispanic vote for Obama.
Romney made a huge tactical error when he went to the right of Rick Perry.
Jury in the primaries and took a fairly extreme position on immigration that he could not retreat from.
But again this is not structural imagine that next time around you have a Marco Rubio.
As the -- nominee this is a problem or a Jeb Bush who has you know tremendous support.
From Hispanics so this that this is clearly an -- that is not structural there was a tactical -- and -- to the tactics of Romney.
I think he did extremely well but he made one huge mistake -- the -- He went defensive -- conservative he let out.
After that the first -- at all about momentum.
And remember last Monday eight days ago.
He was up in the national polls in the Gallup.
And in that around two months in which we know were fairly accurate they are gonna reflect exactly the way it is now.
He was up by about five.
Nationally -- that he would -- one.
Just about all of this swing states the same my Obama did.
Because there was a swing.
Gil lost the five Romney lost the -- -- -- them in the last week because of a bunch of issues including of course.
The storm and the response and the way he could play the commander in chief.
So instead of building a firewall.
Extra support he went very easy -- did not attack on Libya which in retrospect looks marked as he was coasting but -- he didn't have a margin.
He didn't have that extra effect that he -- had by putting the president on the defensive on Libya.
He was left out there with a four point majority of them are -- majority.
Lost it over the storm in the last week.
And did not have the opportunity with a time.
To recover that's a tactical error but again all this cosmic stuff about how we have to reinvent the party I think that is a huge Tuesday.
