It was it was a hard line.
For the state.
Of Ohio and now as we told you Fox News has projected that Barack Obama has won it and Fox News.
Is projecting.
That Barack Obama has been reelected as president of the United States that Mitt Romney's passes to the presidency is now been foreclosed -- with a loss of Ohio.
Because now we can for -- -- that Barack Obama will win Iowa and or again.
The state of Iowa will go to President Obama and the state of war again will go to President Obama.
Now with the state of Ohio we can now definitively say that president Barack Obama will be reelected.
Mitt Romney.
Will come up a loser -- this race Republicans thought that they had an amazing shot.
To take down a president who had high unemployment rates who had a nation that was split over his health care law.
They thought that this was the time.
This is not the time Democrats fought back the Obama campaign running a very aggressive early effort two.
Characterize Mitt Romney.
As a corporate raider and this time it.
Bain Capital early in the in his business career and portraying them negatively -- you look live at Obama headquarters and the cheering there.
That works in a state like Ohio.
Also the auto bailout.
Was hammered by Democrats in Ohio and other states president Barack Obama.
We'll win.
Because his campaign.
Did a good job of campaign.
He will not win because the state of the economy.
-- Republicans will look back.
Starting tomorrow.
And look back at what happened.
And that is what we were told early on in the game which was an admission on the president's team would be to quote kill Mitt Romney.
And to attack his character and to make people believe.
That he didn't care about them that he was incorporated that he was a vulture a vampire.
Both the capitalist.
And already there will be there were getting word you know within.
Some circles that they -- they're gonna question whether Mitt Romney fought back.
Hard enough against that charge whether he let some of that.
Hundred million dollars with a negative advertising mounts against him unanswered for too long in this campaign.
And it it ended in a way that wound up defining him as what the Obama team.
Wanted him to -- -- as opposed to somebody who's devoted a large portion of his life to helping others.
Through his faith Christchurch there was.
His other dealings -- -- to the panel now for their thoughts -- it.
-- -- we sit here about loopholes we.
Lot of us were troubled by state polls that showed plurality of Democrats voting that we thought.
Approach those of -- -- and we didn't think it was possible.
It was about if plus seven.
Democrat and in no way I didn't it was likely that Obama would do that well obviously the role of race is closer than it was much closer than it was but.
This is that this is that it last week -- the exit polls we haven't hand 25000.
Person sample.
Those identified as Democrats 38.
Republican 32 that is plus six Democrats that is better than we thought many in this thought he would do and that tells the story.
Well I mean that that does because we've been we've been talking about how long do you believe these polls right and so many pollsters said well it's not going to be the same as it was.
In 2008 in the enthusiasm -- where the electorate is changed and you know somebody -- how many times have you heard -- president elect say.
You see all the polls were wrong -- on the tonight.
You know and that's and then that's the point is a period.
It's not only that the polls are right but we were talking about this -- Kirsten was talking about -- the methodology which is based on asking the moderates that -- was discussing.
Who do you identify with Republican or Democrat turns out the plus -- for the Democrats was exactly on target and I'll say this in addition I think.
That you know when you look at moderates the people in the middle with suburban housewives who I think made the call here tonight for President Obama.
You know in a lot of these issues the economy -- says you know it's not because of the economy that that the president got reelected but in fact.
When you ask people you know you consider the economy good overwhelmingly they voted for -- Obama but even if you ask them.
You consider the economy not so good it was advantage Barack Obama 55 to forty.
Two I think that's quite telling just about unemployment.
They also thought that Barack Obama better to handle unemployment quite a surprise.
Given how much negative news has come forth about the kind of I think Americans see the economy beginning to recover and don't forget we have here.
Also I think still and after birth of the bush years Americans still blaming George W.
Bush.
50%.
For what's going on here with the economy in this country.
-- Steve you -- well I think.
You are likely to see these big discussion right now inside the Republican Party and they're basically going to be two camps there's going to -- one camp that says.
Mitt Romney ran way too far to the right.
He tried to be something he wasn't and in that sense he he did himself and that's likely leave me.
What we hear from the mainstream media and others.
There's another group and I think it's that the stronger group that says.
You know Republicans don't do as well women operate nominate someone -- moderate in 2008 Republicans nominated John McCain in 2012 -- nominated Mitt Romney.
Somebody who pushed cleaner and harder contrast.
Could have been a better candidate against this president if you look inside these numbers mean if you -- to just look at that one question in particular in the exit polls think gets -- -- -- government philosophy should the government do more to solve problems 43%.
Government is doing too many things better left to business and individuals.
51%.
So still a majority of Americans.
Believe that the government is doing too much that that too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses and that comes on -- night which is obviously a very good night.
For Democrats and if you look again at liberal moderate conservative 25%.
Self identify liberals 40% self identified moderates 35%.
Self identified conservatives.
How does Barack Obama start a new term now here's been given.
That he won he won narrowly but -- but the very house Republicans who he's been you know attacking -- a lot of his stump speech.
Also received their mandate -- cities and you get a mandate they have there's.
How does he come back and change course in a way to preserve the legacy.
Or.
Just to get the country going again because -- even though he's made some strides in the economic department we still have 2% growth and we still have 23 plus million Americans unemployed or underemployed.
I mean he's backing off.
I if I worked for him I would -- look.
Those developed Oakland and talk about how built enough talk about how to work with people who you don't agree on finding areas -- do you agree.
And and try to get something.
That's what I would say that and I just -- sort of my -- yeah election.
I you know I think that.
That the idea that -- and I just wanna say.
The reason I was so sure that Barack Obama was gonna win this because I as of some of his work on campaigns I believe very strongly the best campaign winds and I just got -- that.
I have to finish that.
But with the fact that it's now that's news you can finish the -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- That they know this is the electorate they knew where there voters weren't they found them -- started doing this the day after he was elected and they ran an excellent campaign knew their voters in new patterns them.
