They are neighbors are family and our friends they are US military veterans who risked their lives for our freedom.

And now a new book is inspiring young people.

To look up to our nation's here and the author of this brand new book is here with us it's called veterans heroes in our neighborhood.

Valerie Feinstein welcome to our show thank you Davidson who actually teaching that my daughter's school in my -- was one time my son's school yes and without power they.

When you have always been inspired by veterans and you but you almost felt that it was so important to tell your kindergarten class about patterns well.

Absolutely -- Children at Bristol they're sponges and they will learn as much as we give them and we get so sanitized or world Cheney making it easier for children and clear for our children need -- That we've also eliminated so much from their lives when I grew up my grandfather would tell stories about when he was in the war.

And and you put that in this book any -- any use you salute to your grandfather passed away in 1983.

He's in his character yes I did and -- you know -- it's been such a pleasure all of the characters in the book.

Are real people in my -- They may not have the professions that they have in the -- but they've all made such an impact on me.

That I just couldn't help myself that use them.

And you had -- -- you have them come -- class.

So the kids can meet them and there's one child in particular in your class who was so inspired that one.

Yes Chris is very excited and he still wants to be in the military he's in fourth grade now in.

And you know it it it.

Pumps need to know that I'm doing the right thing.

When the children are thankful for the veterans in the -- when we can actually say to the children.

These are the people that gave their lives -- -- And they walk around you every day when my friend sent you at these people have -- an act of valor every single day when they were in the service and our kids and he realized they were among them now.

And -- and they see these reports in the news shows like this -- -- see a ten year war going on Afghanistan and about eight years in Iraq they understand.

The big difference was he -- drafted back in these these kids these men and women are are choosing to go in that.

Yes absolutely and they choose to believe in and they they they love their country so much even when they were drafted.

They love their country so much that they served our country and really provided a safety that we have for children.

An amazing thing is when you ask your kids to go and come back the next day and find one person in their lives who has served that they all come back and they're so excited tell -- Really -- and I asked them what they're excited about what -- love that veterans so much.
