But as a -- the Republican Party does a GOP need to do some soul searching summer pushing to make the party more inclusive.
But does that mean -- for some becoming more moderate.
-- presidential can senator Rick Santorum joins us I should and given new book -- American patriots who have to talk about sometime soon but does become what the GOP camp.
What do you do.
Look.
This is a very close election and as election that in my opinion should about -- about really big things.
-- we had a president who wanted to make it about really the little things because I don't think he could win the debate on the big things.
They think we wiping -- economy was I mean I think most of it on the economy the big thing in my that it was then that that was just.
You know and I -- a slice of it I mean what Mitt Romney did is he ran a campaign he wanted to run he wanted to make this a referendum on the economy.
And that's a big thing but it's not.
You know this sort of the basic foundations of our country and I think what Barack Obama really want is is trying to do.
And -- themselves trying to transform America he says about two different visions of who America is I think that's the debate we -- had as this is this a country that.
Is a country that is best in in the model of government.
Running things from the top down.
Which is not the American model -- powerful federal government doing things for us and dictating to us.
Or do we still believe and our founding vision and one that.
Our policies that are consistent with that not just economic.
Companies say they saw it but also social and cultural policy anytime the -- the social locking the suffering of the social issues like abortion -- of course being those issues are very very much associated with in many ways -- the Democrat party to talk about the war on women who got and they can't find out.
Mean there -- discussions about abortion and Roe vs.
Wade is thirty some years old and who's gonna pay for contraception.
And all those and discussions and more women and then the president profound and better with the women the governor Romney did.
He did profoundly better with single when he got creamed among married one.
But he Eli he lost single win.
And because we were not they're talking about.
What the real war on women as in the world war on women is the fact that we're seeing more more and more single women single moms raising their children because fathers are not taking responsibility for the children.
In a society that is getting looser and looser with their sexual morals and that is not a group that is not a good thing and and and so what what should be our policies.
To build stronger families which means by the way less poverty and stronger and and I didn't stronger economy.
And that I'm not sure that would resonate with a lot I'm in late night a lot of single women aren't passing I had couldn't be single women and -- -- -- are trying to interfere with the airline -- try to.
Interfere with their lives but that the fact that we're seeing poverty rates -- up.
Stanley breakdown happening neighborhoods breaking down where there are no dad's.
Talked a lot of single women and neighborhoods where there are no dads and I think they would like to think that most of them would say would be nice.
If we had stable stable families and we had men in the community that we there.
To be role models and help raise these these children I mean this.
That's that's that's what we know works and that's in that is.
By the way the norm.
Again and in neighborhoods that are strong and.
And those neighbors and prosper but those -- overarching all of that -- a fact that they.
There's no jobs mean inner city is getting worse -- the thing that disappoint me most about this whole campaign Republicans and Democrats.
He is there was just no discussion about the fact that our inner cities where I worked for him I actually I got more ears of the community activist and President Obama I -- -- -- probably offered memories.
Those used to getting worse you look at Detroit that's he would there was noticed casually discussed five or six battleground states and we never talked about the inner city and -- -- how what's what's happened what is.
No -- I was the author of the welfare reform act I was someone who.
Not to go on and look at my resume I was involved in almost every anti poverty measure that happened in the -- senate for the twelve years I was there.
I'm a Catholic I believe we have a responsibility to those who are less fortunate and the government has a role to play and I was -- very active in that front and and certainly part of the big part of our campaign.
Was talking about those folks lower and middle income people and giving them the opportunity to rise in society I focused a lot on manufacturing jobs which is -- the way that.
To get the skills necessary to upgrade your you know team to train them to get deficit can't upgrade their skills so they can get better jobs so that was.
What we should be but part of our message and and not just talking about the business owners.
You can -- -- business owners and cutting their taxes and that's an important thing and I'm all for that.
But Jeff date yet to connect the dots as how that's gonna help the guy and the shop floor of the person who wants to be on the shop floor of the person -- wants to be in the you know -- the delivery truck.
How you can improve their their lives and that.
That's the message I think well I better I think.
-- talents of grow more more to people forget awake today -- of these cities can get a little bit better parliament -- and I wanted to go more as families didn't get the.
Construct and that's and that's and that's one of the biggest reasons for increase in the title right.
Yet immigration reform.
As a -- connect embedded take a new look at what it thinks about immigration reform.
You lost it lost a lot of Hispanics.
Oh yeah I think we did lose a lot of Hispanic vote vote.
Again I think one of the reasons we didn't talk about all of the issues that that that community which.
Which as all immigrant communities are there is Darren you know disproportionate to our middle and lower -- -- who worked you know trying to stroke -- it took to rise.
We didn't really have a very strong message for those folks and I think that's that and how much talking especially talking writ large we didn't have a very strong message there and I think that's important.
And obviously family's important to that to that community -- and and and again that's that's a message -- immigration reform secular and look immigration reform is something we have to DOS.
This president got away with it I -- got away with four.
-- is not doing anything he gave a speech to said he is gonna do it any of the house disseminated and he did not very happy and the Republican Party didn't -- Damon didn't jump.
And I know I -- well I mean like.
-- what governor Romney did was run the campaign he wanted to run which was to take every issue and turn it back to the economy and -- the business and I can fix this.
And that's -- -- and so we don't we ran a campaign consistent with the candidate we had.
And he came close -- -- he can't say what was a horrible campaign night and I'm just more of I'm just saying is that the immigration reform is you know is something that.
It has a lot I think this is a lot of chatter in this town a lot of promises the reason it did not get done in my opinion by this president because he wanted this is an issue.
I don't believe the Democrats are -- all sincere about about doing anything.
And it and compromising with Republicans and immigration they would rather have the issue.
And continue to drive you know drive this this wedge.
Between races and and and and creeds and classes or whatever they'll -- wanna I wanna divide America -- and I that's unfortunate.
Let's see if Barack Obama's second term is serious about solving problems or wants to perpetuate.
-- -- the -- of the press conference real answers questions doorstep just making a statement which I think is the biggest dad's death and that lack of transparency but anyway after -- last word every event -- you're always -- -- I -- and I tonight and I might have had -- much Scott -- -- --
