Thank you very much and joining us -- -- provide their insight Fox News security analyst KT McFarland and former head of the CIA bin Laden unit Michael Sawyer.

Welcome to those of you Michael let me begin with you.

We learn about this FBI investigation that was under way.

Regarding the security breach which -- covered these emails.

What do you make of these revelations and the impact Washington is reeling from -- resignation -- It seems to me the investigation was complete a while ago and in that that coincidence of all of the information coming out forcing Petraeus to resign now clearly is an effort by the administration.

To make sure he doesn't -- what what he knows.

About our failure of the president's failure.

To try to rescue 47 or four Americans that were under attack for seven hours which is not unusual for the Democrats if you remember.

In October 2000.

Clinton was very concerned about getting his sidekick -- elected.

When they almost sunk the naval ship Cole killing seventeen Americans Clinton responded in a way just as Obama didn't respond -- and -- So this is par for the course for Democrats Americans can die if their political agenda is forward and say is -- -- to prevent him from.

Revealing what he knows he could still be subpoenaed and be forced to talk well -- congressman who was just on previously said he'd be he'd hoped he didn't have to subpoena him but.

You know there with the administration will do will try to bury us in a lot of relevant retail detail what happened there was for seven hours we watched Americans being killed and we did nothing.

You can't get around that information and I think you have to remember that Petraeus was was the one in the community.

-- three weeks ago came out with a statement that was very clear.

No one at any level of the CIA.

Stopped assistance going to the men who were under attack.

Which was as close as he could -- has done a member of the administration to say it was the White House.

Taking the administration has -- signatures are sayings resignation.

Of what does nothing to do with ongoing -- terror attack investigation by the congress we've been pointing -- just days before he was set to testify in congress about what he knew.

What do you make of the timing of his departure.

Lot -- experience there is but there's something very fishy about this I was in Afghanistan with General Petraeus eighteen months ago is a friend of mine.

There were suggestions that there was a relationship that he had with someone this was not a secret and when he transferred from the army.

To the CIA he would have undergone a lie detector test he would have had a polygraph and the first question I -- asked him is is there anything in your background that's suspicious.

That kind investigation in betting he would have had not only in this position in Afghanistan but when he went to the CIA.

Don't think how library book that was overdue they certainly would have known about this so -- the question is why the White House would have known about this they would have given him.

A waiver to take the job in spite of the fact that there would have been a question so why sit on it for two years I think they're only two explanations.

One of the White House wanted to hold it over -- had to get him to testify the way they wanted to have him testify.

Or he came forward himself and said.

I don't want to be in that position I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say and I do think when my customers just said.

That statement that came out of the CIA two weeks ago it was that came on us Friday night.

And it said no -- -- the CIA at any level had at any time denied help to the CIA personnel on the ground.

What makes the question okay if that wasn't the CIA -- tell them to stand down who was it.

So I think there's more to come.

I think General Petraeus is now in a position to tell the truth without any ramifications are consequences to his career because these are -- resign.

And I just would like to now what had happened.

But it took questions about the time line Michael because September 12 and fourteenth -- -- don't Petraeus apparently was the one -- What -- had to a video and talked about this and that was at odds with what.

The CIA person on the ground were saying at the time we -- minutes they had reported that this is a terror attack on the consulate there.

Well you know it I that you may have been playing.

Along is a good team player just as general Powell played along as a good team player during the Iraq War and now regrets it.

I think you also need in this whole episode remember.

That there are only two players in Washington who have not gone along with that with the lies that John Brennan and the president have told.

American the American people about the Islamic militant threat.

That it's grow in spectacularly.

Since 2001.

And that was.

Mr.

Panetta.

And that and in General Petraeus.

He can't do anything about mr.

Obama can't do anything about mr.

Tenet because -- of the Democrat in good standing.

But getting.

Petraeus out of the CIA.

-- one less negative voice challenging his foolish narrative about how our foreign policy is working in the in the Muslim world.

And so I think they're very glad to have -- It -- a couple seconds left here -- this thing is not gonna go away obviously counselor saying that there's going to be the story's going to unfold if it not if not days it may take months but the story will come out.

No I mean I was in the White House during market these things have a life of their on the drip drip drip.

Out of whistle blowers who will come forward but I I must say I think that there for the administration's point of view General Petraeus is an up are different position.

That if he worked for them he's now an independent guy he has.

Nothing that's gonna stop him from saying the truth and he's a Canon guy who in his whole life is run towards the bullets.

Not a way I expect is gonna say an awful lot in the next couple of days and then we will finally get to the.

Hi Katie thank you so much -- again I think he's an insight today of course will be following this story very closely.

And FOX News Sunday.
