Campaign sex -- is sending shockwaves through the corridors of Washington and really elsewhere right.
But now they're also being felt in Afghanistan President Obama first losing his CIA director and now wondering about the leader at his war effort as well general Allen.
Reggie -- seeker and is that senior correspondent -- -- -- better for the Washington Post is -- the author.
-- little America had the war with then the war for Afghanistan regime nice -- back on the programming they've been working like crazy.
A the last couple days on this story you say in just heard from general Allen's camp what what are some of the news that you can report about general Allen.
And all of this news about him potentially being involved in -- scandal himself.
Get jealous of some late breaking developments here.
We heard overnight of course that the Pentagon was saying that there were twenty to 30000 pages of documents of emails.
Suppose we exchange between general John Allen.
Think the top commander in Afghanistan.
And Jill Kelly this woman at the heart of the Petraeus brought -- scandal well a senior US official who was close general Allen has just told me that.
In fact it wasn't twenty to 30000 separate emails or hundreds of messages but.
But really not not picked -- the big number that's being -- out there and said that most of these were simply innocuous messages in many cases.
We're we're messages sent five miss -- up to general Allen.
On a whole variety of things -- items in the news and so forth.
And they -- this official noted that the general Allen a southern gentleman who sort of kind of an unfailingly polite guy.
Responded to all of these messages and sometimes because they they were friends and and general Allen's wife was friends with miss -- I would sometimes use terms like sweetheart but met only -- a platonic way not to connote any sort of thought.
Inappropriate relationship and certainly this official emphasized to me.
Repeatedly that general Allen did not happen affair with that with Joseph Kelly.
There's so many different nuances and on these these relationships and sure as as you've discovered in your reporting regime the last -- on the program we're talking about Afghanistan.
And it's worth noting that we're still at war in Afghanistan in general Allen is the commander.
You what do you think this means for the war for -- what's the implications and general Allen being investigated now.
Well I mean this this -- believe me it would.
Between Petraeus and -- Petraeus was was leading the though the war essentially Pakistan general Allen leading a war what we still have 68000 men and women in uniform serving.
General Allen he is due to present his assessment.
To up the president's council security team with regard to troop draw downs next year just how many troops can be pulled out from there.
What I've heard from from people here in Washington up close to all this is that there's not going to be a delay on that but certainly.
It adds a whole other layer of of complication and distraction to an important set of discussions that need to take place with regard.
Too did the future of this war effort.
Certainly a bigger picture.
To take a look at it at as we again we remember -- -- while this is happening at regime great to have -- the program we'll continue to look happier world reporting at the Washington Post.
And look for have you back as well thank you so much.
