-- everybody I'm -- pulled out -- welcome to Fox's dot com live on a Tuesday.
So -- -- whether it's for the next half hour this is this so called solutions America.
And what we do during this show is to talk about some of the issues some of the problems that are facing Americans or people.
Really all over the world and then we introduce you to people who have tried to come up with solutions.
To those problems.
So we're gonna cover a bunch of different topics today in the first one has to do.
With dental hygiene let's get right to it.
And the issue is -- I created my teeth correctly.
A solution could be an app that shows you how well you brush.
Let's say hello to Alex from -- he's the CEO.
Being technology is you can find him on Twitter at Alex -- -- And the company at being -- good to see you Alex thanks very much for joining us earlier thanks very all right so I watched your video earlier today I liked it a lot.
Is you heard toothbrush and app or is there an app for your toothbrush tell -- the deal here -- -- his work.
Sure so the answer should be yes there will be soon saluting -- is the first connected -- -- what we've done is we've taken a common everyday manual toothbrush.
We didn't edit censor out of the sensors -- -- the region a man in the head region of the brush.
So when you brush your teeth and so demonstration.
When you begin to brush your teeth sensor is often what so indicates the -- -- hey I understand you're brushing your teeth.
So when I saw corruption and we'll see we'll just see your second at a -- collection and says hey you're not here anymore so what I.
You -- -- -- is engaged and then record the events is this is how long brushed -- or when you did.
So -- content and actually a beast being able to train them to understand.
Oral hygiene and included into environments it's useful for people to either maintain parents or -- -- are.
And you actually have a way to send some of this information that's collected.
By the app.
To your dentist's office so when you go wait for your cleaning your dentist -- the hi Janice has that information available to them.
Right one thing that Dennis had never been able to fully understand is their patients home care at this.
You know that your daily brushing flossing -- big east and Europe for all hell.
So do you -- -- access to this information for the first time.
It allowed into effect that you treatment planning for you which can not only save you money but also -- -- -- well as a result.
I like this you can do this you download the app I -- years Smartphone.
And then -- toothbrush and that and the Smartphone device sort of communicate with one another.
And one of the things that I thought was really cool about it is that you know everybody you're -- -- always says make sure you brush your teeth for two minutes.
But how many of us actually truly do that I know I'm.
Guilty of not -- -- full two minutes.
When I -- sometimes a -- in a hurry but you can play music from -- Smartphone this allows you to put on a -- Which could make -- two minutes go -- a little bit quicker.
Right one of the season -- it has been studied for years and the general community.
I don't people whenever you -- about 45 seconds so even I thought I took great care -- -- or starting this project.
You know I -- that I was doing probably -- -- -- our laws or he's just consistently is -- -- was.
So what is -- personal experience my -- an improved tremendously.
So one of the things you try to -- you whisper in his own an anti unification.
Into this kind of boring mundane daily activity in brushing your teeth.
And to get more interest and more engaging and ultimately more fun and the audience so that people actually want to get up and do it.
-- because it's good for them and eat because they can get out.
Another feature that the -- has that was really about -- enables.
Family members to sort of I don't know -- compete with one another but at least keep track of each -- dental hygiene so preparing -- like like my wife and I who -- young kids at home.
-- could be a nice way to sort of incentivized.
That the teeth brushing.
Exactly series here is someone for a -- -- this is our collector profile page.
So there's visual media so there and -- keeping track -- staffs I ever Russians aren't what they can somber place.
Replacement sort of brush.
And I don't know what my most recent event was so -- -- -- -- extremely young kids are trying to teach them good -- hear evidence.
As a tool to be it would manage that and he wouldn't usually see there's a calendar app that shows you where -- forgetting to brush your teeth.
Superstar more more often shows are graphically and it's very easy to see where you're making missteps and therefore -- her -- asked.
And we also know that competition breeds better column order I guess more conscientious.
Daily -- -- so people that are.
Home to people lose weight has become untrue India for the past few years and the inclusion this sort of thing happening with -- -- here but they're actually competing to make sure they're remembered her expertise in doing it or not.
Its interest in the you mentioned continue to lose weight because we have a segment coming up a little bit later on in the show about it a company called healthy ways where people are being paid.
Actually to lose weight I want to ask you how.
How much does this cost Dallack sweat what are you what are you buying for what are you paying for when you -- happen and you and you get.
-- -- -- Sure so that rush is on pre order right now on our -- and be cheaper star properties 35 dollars.
When we launch here just a few weeks it'll go up to fifty dollars.
I'm both history so you're gonna -- replacing -- -- four dollars at your place.
Every few months on the brush.
But there's only a one time a fifty dollar cost access -- -- yeah.
And brush and it's actually funny that you mentioned you were.
Your other -- company.
That's -- -- actually Clark actually sent us via short brushed wheels literal war slayer are which is trying to keep you value whether it's.
-- a discount on and he's clothing that you want to.
Free coffee or -- in cash.
Just crushing it tees the idea getting people tangible reasons to DDO eight years and is becoming oh really relevant -- -- technology.
I need help me floss every day I had my wife would appreciate that I don't know whether you're working on that but how did you come up with the idea for the -- brush.
Yeah I think we did agree excellent funded -- my company's.
Few orders in the business would mean.
We were already working in the General Steel -- some product development work.
And started to see this emerging fuel elements -- probably call digital well.
The idea that we since everybody -- -- -- ever listen and Internet access.
Harnessing technology and using it to affect your health.
Almost becoming alone really role in the community so we started to see that are all these really cool companies popping up there were dressing.
Chronic diseases and really serious health issues.
But nobody was really attacking oral care industry and since we're already -- and -- a lot of us feel we thought that we could.
-- an insert ourselves into that environment and I'll be successful with it.
It'd be -- was born out of this almonds and in bringing dentistry onto the Mara I'm in the digital helps us I was kind of joking about flossing that.
Are they are out there.
This well I mean are there other sort of dental related products that.
That you and -- and you are partners are talking about developing.
Absolutely you know -- -- is actually arguably a bigger deal.
And certainly a bigger deal from a compliance standpoint from Russian team that -- -- I'm still as we look at you know the oral -- structure on -- certainly a lot of development work that we can bring to the table.
And expand on paper targets not only is -- -- important but it's important.
And being able to promote oral health and take advantage -- Unlock technology has yet to be built in this case.
Could give us an opportunity to be -- customers.
-- -- throughout a number of different problems.
So the pre orders and you have not ship these out people who boarded and have they received -- -- -- yet.
No we begin shipping the first week in the suburbs -- All right well that's very cool in your trials though what was the response from folks that you had test your product.
You know people get a better -- aren't you division engaged in years looks more certain.
I want to do these health related ideas and that they're connected to -- gadgets and devices.
Really fascinates people salute taking advantage.
It's very ripe environment or people who realize -- our schools that are available that they can do anything thrown become more active person -- -- -- On to.
Daily activities like brushing your teeth.
With these connected gadgets we've seen a lot of people let's say.
Eight is is certainly worth -- try -- eighty 'cause -- -- -- -- Andy.
-- short and long -- purposes.
But -- out of you you -- more special more more things right so.
And there's this great converging of those world's what we think it's a great time for our place.
Well my late grandfather was an orthodontist.
He put braces on all the kids in our neighborhood when I was a kid growing up.
And I know he would absolutely approve of the work that you're doing.
Pro Meyer the website is deemed toothbrush dot com there's the website right there you can find them on Twitter at -- brush.
Alex from Meyer has also on Twitter as well good to talk to you good luck -- -- last year.
-- and take quick break and then when we come back and get a hard time finding a doctor that's conveniently located that has -- is that work.
For you -- schedule.
There is a new website that's out -- new company that aims to help connect you with.
A health professional we'll talk about that when solution America comes right back.
Back to solution America I'm grateful that -- -- me on Twitter at.
Rick -- -- today show.
This is gonna is exploring health related issues that.
That everybody seems to have to face we were just talking about dental health dental hygiene and ways to make sure your brushing.
-- -- effectively what -- talk now all about finding a doctor and sometimes people have an issue with finding a doctor.
Who's our is really sort of coordinate with with their personal schedules that can be tough but a possible solution.
Could be to -- -- doctor -- available.
When you need him or her and -- -- -- come up with a company called better doctors -- he's the CEO.
And the co-founder of better doctor you can find them on Twitter -- that -- doctor Ari good to talk to you thanks very much for being here.
I -- Adobe -- so how does this work.
What we went mailing -- says a very very simple way to find a doc there when you need one.
So basically looked what do you have today says a very art market there are a lot of -- -- out there.
And it can pick up to fifteen days to find a doctor in some cities in the US.
I don't rebuild here is a simple way way you can.
Find a Doctor Who is -- who was nearby U.
OK so couple different things first of all a lot of times people need to see.
Some kind of a specialist not just -- general.
Practitioner but someone who is a specialist so the first thing that you would do I guess with better doctor is to type in what kind of a specialist you need to seek.
So what do you do you coated the website and you Selleck we'll kind of -- -- you're looking for.
And next step -- you want to do is to it -- looked -- -- funny boy you can also say that that you don't have an answer us.
That that is all you need to do and then you find at least twelve.
Well the rate they don't just -- you -- been verified by better doctor.
When you say well rated who's doing the ratings here how do you know.
That these are doctors who are.
First of all qualified.
Maybe board certified in the specialty that they practice but also have a good record a good track record with their patients.
It does a great question and what we do we are looking at all the background information about that to gays and experienced.
And we also looking at -- Arabia so -- -- -- looking at number of companies are providing us the funds and Arabia's.
And that of course also one important element -- we look at this.
Is -- direct -- that malpractice cases and -- since that some doctors might have.
So -- marks on there on their records for problems that they may have had in the past.
Absolutely so are you what kind of cooperation are you getting from the medical community I mean I imagine.
You know the doctors would want to.
Make sure that they are listed as a as a better doctor on your website so that if people were looking for a position in.
Say San Francisco where you are.
That those doctors' names would pop up.
Absolutely so -- we do the whole system is in -- only.
So we get better -- this band -- last year a year and a half of looking at two other good doctors around you and then it has selected them and now we're doing yet inviting them.
They're better doctors into the system and that's of course -- -- for you as a consumer because it's all about quality in health.
There what's the business model here as I I think I hear your phone.
Vibrating and that's by no worry about it happens here on time but what is your business model where you where do you make money office.
So -- is always going to be afraid for the consumers and -- doesn't really paying fall on me pace it's about walking into practice.
But you won't take money from just any doctor -- you're gonna do some background checking first.
Because that's what people really want to make sure that they're not just.
Logging into a website -- that help them find a doctor who's paid to be on that website.
But if you can really give them guidance on these doctors and make sure that that the doctors and only top notch doctors are on your site that's really what's gonna make it work for you guys right.
Absolutely and that's what what little we had the stunt people have put oil companies so I had some -- -- iasis over the last many years.
And then I finally got -- -- two years ago and decided to find a company -- better buckle fun about the opponent.
And to -- it really is a personal matter and it's all about quality because think about healthcare overall.
If you haven't -- thrust behind.
Basically the price point for the don't they're missing this -- is saying -- around -- to thirty dollars.
And then the only a key factor for you.
That helps in the -- the doctor is going to be equality and also of course they -- elevated it.
Now with my health insurance I know I can go to -- web site.
Put in my zip code for example.
Tell them what kind of a doctor around looking for and -- I get a list of participating.
Doctors who are in the area who I could see in that would be covered under my health insurance.
So obviously you're doing something similar but how would how does your service better doctor dot com.
Differ from some of those other services that people can get simply by logging on to the website of their particular health insurance.
That that's six under the point where while we started the business so.
Today you can go the arm and trust company -- side you get the -- the doctors in alphabetical order.
But you have no quality metrics you really don't know more about the -- this a look at try to do -- to -- a photo.
I had to back running mates and so you can really make a good assistant and business I think -- key element in my mind that that is broken and in health care.
Today because sent if you -- -- -- -- new car or you -- eight in his cell phone you're gonna do a lot of background studies but if you senate the new doctor you'll -- goal by alphabetical list or you don't -- friend and that's you know who might be -- right -- before me.
And that we won't really -- as -- make it more information heavy that you can really find all the.
On our am wondering if there's a way for people to go and rate doctors.
Who who made visited like if for example you found it.
I found a doctor on your web -- Let's say a dentist we were just talking about.
About good dental hygiene.
And then I wanted to let.
Other users other other people who go to your website know.
How this particular dentist was what -- experience in the office was is there a way for people to do that are you collecting information that way.
That's a -- question and and we are getting a lot of emails today.
From all over the country about how can I do that found their sending our speed back that this doctor actually scared.
He is it being there and this doctor is not that good they might not need to be there.
So we up -- that these are fairly soon and you can also then great things directly in the system level we wanna do and make -- Is that if you are racing and doctor you have to have -- in in that doctor office so we don't wanna make a system where you can rape joke this.
By its last.
Not visiting them at all I think that's unfair.
For the doctors and also I think some other new things and appealing today.
Is an iPhone app that'll be coming out that in the coming weeks.
Where you from originally -- I'm from from Finland and I've been living in the in the in different congressman about a blast that -- years seeing different health -- assistance.
I think that we really need to have transparency.
And more simplicity in the system in the US today well I wanted to ask.
-- you would rate the US health care system.
Compared to that in -- door.
Other countries where you visited what do you think and obviously we're about to have some changes to our system as obamacare becomes fully implemented over the next couple of years -- what do you think how do we do it over here.
Thumbs up -- now.
Well -- I think I think I think it's a -- -- -- -- depending on on who you are.
And walked in trust fund you have so if you think about those complex from -- like having a cancer you probably can have the best care in the world in the US.
And if you then we have to have something not not that that.
Complex but you don't have an answer us bunny might be in trouble so I think some people like getting the best care in the world and other people out there that care at all.
So I don't think there is a perfect system in the world today but I think there is -- something to improve -- as well.
Are -- -- is this CEO and he's the co-founder of better doctor.
-- find them on Twitter at better doctor and online and at better doctor -- rather better doctor.
Thank you but I.
Okay so to complete our health trifecta here when we come back and I -- it's a little bit.
A little earlier in the show we're gonna talk to a woman who are a man rather's co founded -- called.
Which is -- a company that aims to get people to sign up for losing weight and -- -- you monetary rewards.
For doing so.
That's when we come right back uncle.
Looking back -- -- on this -- solution America you can find me on Twitter at.
Rick pulled out and we have a bit -- of a theme show today we're talking about health issues we -- -- talk about weight now in so many people.
Trying to lose weight.
-- we hole we hear all about the obese obesity epidemic.
-- here in this country to the issue is that you trouble getting motivated to lose weight possible solution might be to earn some money.
Just for shedding the pounds David -- Barry is co-founder of LP -- You find them on Twitter at health -- he joins us from Miami courtesy -- David thanks very much for joining us.
Thanks for having me so you're gonna pay me to lose weight -- that how this works.
That's exactly right now we wait what our goal is to make weight loss a little more fun and more successful.
And it -- it you kind of make a wager against yourself so.
In our 10% challenge you double your money from losing 10% -- your weight after six months so your sort of making a bet on yourself and if you're successful you win the way.
So -- money you have to make you make an initial investment here you.
If people come on and I want to take part in this they put down how much.
-- what we have a couple of different programs and one doesn't require any investment whatsoever it's a hundred dollars if you start obese and get to a healthy body mass index after one year.
But we find that a hundred dollars just isn't enough for most pivotal in this way.
As an -- larger prizes we give me the opportunity to put some of your own money a little skin in the game and you get to win up to 101000 dollars for losing weight.
And how does this -- how effective is this is opposed to some -- Just for example joining Weight Watchers who are you know doing some of the other weight loss.
Groups or clubs that are out there.
Yeah it's an enhancement so -- whether you're starting Weight Watchers -- you're doing Nutrisystem or you're just getting a gym membership.
On you want to make sure that you actually follow your plant.
And this is a way to make it more successful the academic study suggests that it's three -- three to five times more successful.
If you're starting commercial weight loss program if you have a financial incentive on the line and so this is a way regardless of -- -- diet program or.
Weight management technique they're choosing to make the weight loss more successful more fun.
And and and have a cash prize at the end.
How do you validate when people say for example that they've lost a certain amount of waiter that.
Their body mass index has gotten to a certain level how do you guys make sure that -- before you start handing out cash how do you make sure the people -- tell the truth.
If we give you a couple of options one we have a network about 5000 plus fitness facilities across the country you -- at a -- And get your weight verified once at the start of months at the end of the challenge.
And we actually just now introduced a a video verification option where you just create a private YouTube video and we watch it and confirm -- that way.
Wow what isn't so tough for people to get motivated to lose weight.
Well I you know we've done a tremendously good job of educating people about what they need to do.
I'm so people most people understand what food and nutrition they need to consume in order -- -- weight and then they need active get active and move more but they just don't do it.
Tom Anderson there's so many social forces that are preventing us from.
Maintaining our weight that that you really need an individual goal and an individual motivation to take advantage and and do what you're supposed to do and so that's where that.
Financial incentive I'm comes and you know money talks and most people are motivated by winning the cash prize.
Well skin in the game I think is very important people are much more apt to be motivated to do something if they have some money on the line.
I want to ask about.
You know about the way that this would work with somebody who maybe isn't.
Obese but who rather is looking to lose maybe five or ten pounds is this a program that would work for them as well.
Certainly certainly you know we have got a teen challenge -- -- competing against other teens and there's a 101000 dollar cash prize for the top team.
Or you can do that 10% challenging you know let's say needle is ten or fifteen pounds that -- that's it you know generally about 10% -- wait for a lot of folks and so you join the 10% challenge to put some money down.
And six months later if -- lost 10% hear -- you double your money.
Well I think it's -- really good idea what kind of response are you getting so far -- Tremendously positive and so we distribute primarily through large employers any consumer can go to our website healthy weight stock common sign up.
Now we have over 400 I'm large employers that offer to their employees as a corporate wellness solution.
And that includes a -- a school districts municipalities and fortune 500 companies and that that you know.
-- were only three years old so the adoption rate into enterprise has been tremendously positive very quick and it's -- you know doubling every year.
And then to consumers you know once -- -- to hear about a network you tell your family members your friends and you sign up online at healthy wage dot com.
And I you know -- the growth rates are still tremendously.
Well -- you know this makes so much sense for employers to be able to offer this to their employees because obviously.
Healthier employee is gonna be.
More productive is gonna show up for work more time more days during the year and so to partner with companies with big employers is a real Smart idea.
LA exactly and -- -- companies want to get their men involved in weight loss on the Weight Watchers is a fantastic program they have a real problem getting men involved.
And men like the competition they like the betting.
They like the 101000 dollar cash prize and then that -- the response and weight loss -- results for men in our competitions as fantastic.
Again this is healthy wage and website is healthy wage dot com.
Find them on Twitter at health wage is that right there's no why they -- David just -- wage on Twitter.
If we also have healthy weight Shelby when you have healthy wake up okay great and David -- -- is the co-founder.
Of healthy which -- -- -- David thanks very much for being with us today good luck.
Thank you for your time thank you.

Your midsection and mine.
