Back to our top story now Fox News is now confirming that General Petraeus will indeed it testify.

He will do so voluntarily.

This Friday and he will talk.

Two members of congress about what happened in -- Ghazi.

Now back in September he backed up the Obama administration's spontaneous.

Attack claim based on.

The video that has surfaced so could his testimony.

Change or at least be a little bit more forthcoming and larger perhaps now that he is no longer the CIA chief.

Retired four star general Jack keen -- General Petraeus personally.

There's also the former vice chief of staff of the army and general -- is a Fox News military analyst John King good morning good to have you with us.

Good morning more than you know the reports yesterday or that General Petraeus it did not want to testify that he would let morale -- deputy.

Who has stepped in for him do that because he said he knows everything that we you know that he had discovered on that -- Also that he didn't want to create -- a media circus around his appearance what has changed.

Well I think he always one of the testified going back when he was a director because it was so much misinformation out there it.

I I think a played a part.

In his journeying.

To Libya and doing a personal in Korea what took place on Mon eleven out there at least from.

The such an intelligence agent agency's perspective and make certain that he had all the factories spoke to the secure roughly to the chief of the Ben Ghazi base obviously the chief of station and came back and how to report.

You know put together based on that so I think in his mind.

He always wanted to testify and clear up any of the -- on the spending.

And then of course he he resigned as as as director and I think in his -- line.

You know he felt there was no longer his position to testified -- but given that the climber and the interest this around in his testimony.

Particularly given the interest in his previous testimony and some of the misunderstanding that created I think that's what prompted -- -- look up.

I have nothing to hide here.

I'm more than happy to come before you went and talked to about the events surrounding 9/11 that's what this is about do you think that something good.

Or some larger truth perhaps.

About the situation can -- from his testimony on Friday.

Well I think so because everybody's so no so much more about it but you know and -- at the heart of this.

Is this -- sixty days plots.

You know from 9/11.

The events around the net and and the reason why the legislative branch is pushing to gain information.

Is because the executive branch has never given them an accounting.

Of what took place on -- eleven.

And they're having to pull it out of various agencies that they happen to have.

Oversight over there there's -- -- the Department of Defense is never given a briefing which they normally don't have at the something like this team and it is so unfortunate.

Did you how do you think that he was you know -- the White House line on this and that the fact that -- is no longer.

He he's now liberated from doing that.

Will that produce a different -- -- on Friday.

I don't think so I mean I -- they've tried pretty well in the I think he's got one story that's.

His interpretation of what took place that's that's what he has -- not I don't think that's changed and who provided much illumination.

On that is as he possibly can.

You know but but there there's a larger the thinking here that really -- back to the -- of why everybody cares so much about what happened nine -- I'm the one -- of course is the more lives that were last there.

On the other it's our understanding of whether or not al-Qaeda is growing in this region whether or not they present a growing threat.

Which seems to be -- -- at the White House does not want to perpetuate.

Will David Petraeus talk about whether or not al-Qaeda is a growing threat.

Over the last several years in this region well.

So only he has information on Maddon and I I would hope that they would ask him about that the the fact of the matter is if you just look at open sources like we have a reported here on fox it's indisputable.

That al-Qaeda is on the rise and in the Middle East doubled in size in Iraq obviously growing and in North Africa.

Involved in trying to change out the regime in and serious that but that's indisputable evidence.

-- it Bill Kristol says something the other night a you know and I I don't know where you know he got this information but he said.

You know that that General Petraeus had said something to the effect of you know if you -- -- I don't have is what really happened and gotten so -- -- wanna know the official line.

Or do you want to know what really happened now I I don't know you know if that conversation took place the way that it has been presented.

But no doubt there will be senators in that what we understand will be -- closed door hearing on Friday.

That will put that question to him were you told basically to say that this was because of -- movie.

And -- do -- the answer that question will be all.

-- they're gonna get a straight answer that's that's one thing I can guarantee they're gonna get a straight answer.

And then I don't know what all the answers are we can only speculate but one thing I do know all the bill bill know the truth from -- Dave Petraeus as -- -- -- yeah.

You know a lot of people sent us messages and tweets and all of that there are people who believe that General Petraeus.

Has been.

It it in some way is unfairly maligned in -- do you think that he wants to speak.

Eight in order to sort of set the record straight.

-- -- and to present himself in a way that will help to preserve his legacy.

For the future.

Well I think one of the things there was motivate him when he was a director to wanna go back and testify was just to clear the misrepresentation.

Of what was taken place with the CIA what their actions were and what they.

They fail to do and what the analysts have provided him.

In terms of good motivation for the attack he he wanted to go back in -- that -- -- think that's changed one bit.

I think it's it's less about him and more about what the facts are getting the truth out there in terms of the events -- -- the 9/11.

You know we we all -- -- -- that I think a lot of people are very glad that he is volunteered to testify.

And to hear more of his story thank you so much general always good to talk TM.

Take a look from hearings should be.
