Secretary of state Hillary Clinton will testify in an open hearing.
About the Libya terror attack.
Let's get reaction now from ambassador John Bolton former US ambassador to the United Nations ambassador what do you think.
Well I think everybody's been waiting for this I think Secretary Clinton has done an outstanding job of keeping herself in the background for the last two months you know going right back of the that famous appearance on five Sunday shows by Susan Rice is the president.
Confirmed yesterday of course Susan Rice doesn't have a you do with Ben -- in the question.
Asked then was where is Secretary Clinton this is her.
-- mission in Libya it war it was it was her ambassador.
Who was killed along with three others why wasn't she on television.
Answering these questions.
Now why is that it is her testimony not until mid December or early December.
I think for some time now she's been waiting for this internal State Department.
Review board to complete its work and she wants to wait for that to come out and digested.
And that may be her new line of defense but it's been I have to say very successful tactical effort by the secretary of state to avoid the spotlight.
Ambassador.
Secretary Clinton is in charge of the diplomats.
In the diplomats in being -- were big -- Not only for greater protection before the attack.
But then of course you know -- -- CIA.
Operatives were begging for help during the attack.
What role do you think she may have played in this.
Well I I think people have no answer to that question and it stunned me and has stunned me.
How passive she has seen since the attack occurred on.
September the eleventh content to wait for this review board.
We've had no indications of her going to red alert inside the State Department I must say there's not a secretary of state I've ever worked for before who wouldn't have been 24/7.
On this immediately.
So I I think she has a lot of questions to answer and I think -- Because it was fundamentally her responsibility.
That.
That she really should be more -- the center of the events in it at Ben Ghazi than she has been what does that mean red alert.
And did you think she was huge.
War State Department was watching in real time.
We heard at least one individual -- was.
Watching the attack -- fool would she had been involved in that.
Well let me put it this way and I just use red red alert -- generically.
If five or at any any secretary of state I've ever seen was one of his or her.
That facilities under attack with his personnel missing or feared dead.
Would have been at the State Department all night if -- -- would have done would have been doing whatever they could be done would have been on the phone with the Libyan government with other governments to try and get.
Help to.
In this case the consulate in Ben -- And and yet we've never heard anything about what the State Department was doing other than.
Down at the end mid level mid mid level range which which I just find strange it again it's a -- said that he and the department.
And the administration is appalled that I just think is inexplicable you'll also find it.
Strange and if not inexplicable.
With the president keeps saying as he did yesterday at the news conference -- well I you know I really can't talk about this because it's under investigation.
My goodness.
A -- it's been two months if -- president of the United States you can get answers in.
Two days can't you.
Yeah -- let's be clear that this the price that was a dodge by this so called former constitutional law professor the president.
Is charged by article two of the constitution to take care that the laws be faithfully executed he is the top law enforcement officer he is entitled.
To know what the Department of Justice is doing whether it's a criminal matter.
Or whether it's a national security matter there are no inhibitions there cannot be inhibitions.
Find him learning what he wants the war now he doesn't want -- learn if he wants to be detached which is the Obama style that to me as a point of criticism.
Right and there's no law that I'm aware off.
That gay in prohibits him from telling the American people the truth -- it just saying oh it's under investigation.
There's nothing that stops him as the commander in chief from telling the American people what's going on.
Ambassador was the chief law enforcement office yet.
-- easily say I don't care about potential criminal liability I want the truth to come out it's within his power to do that -- All right ambassador John Bolton thank you so much.
