Well initials of Fox's Sunday interview this morning senator Saxby Chambliss and Joseph Lieberman weigh in on the deadly terror attack and then -- Both expressed concern over the Obama administration's response but agreed the bigger issue is why our personnel -- Nazi or so poorly protect.
We've got to get some State Department officials -- him to really explain why.
You send an ambassador basically on guarded with a few Libyan guards.
And it.
The CIA was not there regarding the presence would have Patrick Kennedy one of the top State Department -- live in here that's not his function to determine security though -- we've got the right person commend him for our next hearing to talk about what we know now about the.
Intelligence of the terrorists who were in the vicinity of Ben Ghazi in my opinion it was irresponsible to have.
Our State Department personnel there -- only through security guards they were evil easily overrun.
In the attack of September 11 either we should have given them.
The protection they deserved or we should have closed that mission and Ben -- as the British government had done.
A short while before.
And joining us now is being an actor actually Sunday Chris Wallace -- Good morning Eric you know I mean that that's a great point that is in the ways somehow been lost in all this controversy emanates tragically their like sitting ducks there.
Well look I've always thought and there are legitimate questions to ask about what Susan Rice sat on the Sunday talk shows and all about -- the time line.
Ed the talking points but in the end nobody died because of that and and -- -- wasn't a cover up it was a very unsuccessful one because it broke down two days later.
This is the key question.
Because there had been dozens of warnings there had been to attacks including an IED which exploded just outside the consulate the red cross and pulled out of Ben Ghazi.
The British.
Ambassador had pulled out of Ben -- he has outposts there.
And that is the question and we also know that in May and August a month before the attack.
That -- Stephens and a lot of talk a black security sent messages saying that you know there are extremist groups here and we don't have enough security.
That's the question because that's what's what -- saved lives why was the decision not made either one to beef up security at the consulate or two to simply say to the ambassador.
They -- and -- like and other countries let's pull out because it's too dangerous.
Exactly as speaking of a Susan Rice and General Petraeus in his testimony and -- -- this week you know saying that someone took out.
The -- references to al-Qaeda -- our I'll sure we -- they just called those attackers extremists.
What are we go from here it seems that the president could be backing Susan Rice -- secretary of state Washington Post today strong editorial against her.
Well interestingly enough I talked to Saxby Chambliss is that vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee which heard from Petraeus.
I asked him you gonna call Susan Rice and he said well look it's up to the committee and -- I trust them.
And I said yeah I think we need to hear from her.
Because she's the case who gave -- these talking points what did she know when she went out on -- Sunday talk shows because to the degree that people believe.
That she was misleading the country at that key moment as to what had happened to make Ghazi.
Who better to talk to than her.
Well I mean it's interesting that senator Chambliss would say she's the key but the president says now she's come after me says she's they UN ambassador -- has nothing to -- -- this.
Well she's gonna talk of the talk of talk shows and I suspect they're not gonna subpoena.
Or ask that the president come and testify Susan Rice is subject to confirmation and especially if he's going to be.
The secretary of state.
She's gonna happen go to Capitol Hill and answer these questions well be -- to see if they.
Do ask her or subpoena her and if -- rice does appear at that hearing Chris always good to see you thank you so much.
Thanks Eric and of course for more --
