But there's still a lot of cleanup to do.
People still need emergency help.
Based only -- based only power they still need food today's still made a shelter kids are still.
Trying to figure out where they're going and going to school.
So there's a lot of short term immediate stuff that has to be dealt with it and we are gonna make sure that.
We stay here as long as people needed that immediate help that's -- primary task.
Well as a good thing because those are people need to help them for quite -- present Obama visiting storm ravaged Staten Island New York today -- lots of folks are.
Still without any place to live today.
Without power without hope without a lot of stuff.
So with things looking pretty hopeless out there we decided to bring Melissa Francis on here.
To offer some advice on how you get through -- pretty bad stuff like this.
Why Melissa Francis -- British what does this seemingly set for life success and that's Harvard educated TV anchor.
And -- former child movie star -- about pain insults.
What I told.
A lot more than you'd think so every one.
Listen closely and learn Melissa out with I'm telling you a jaw dropping memoir.
That is a far cry from -- delicate Little House on the Prairie and -- this seemingly charmed eight year old girl.
First came into our lives the book is called diary of -- stage mother's daughter and it's also my friend Melissa Francis here right now.
And -- -- I want you to come on.
That's what's available -- great book but to talk to a lot of these folks who -- -- through.
Hey I'm in a lousy Thanksgiving -- if I'm lucky to have a home I haven't lost it's a lawful.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- A lot of my book centers around the idea that.
Yeah I grew up but that's life find -- house -- prayer on television looked really magical an idyllic and a lot of that was.
So much fun you know on so many different -- and and we had a great time in behind it it was you know driven by a stage mother that's why it's called dire Christie's mother -- there was a lot of I'm cruelty and abuse that went on behind the scenes -- Pretty shocking and you know it's hard to read the book he was a lot of the details -- shocking to Mike has and it's my best friends.
And I think a lot of the reason why I did it was.
-- you know number one I own my life and where it's been -- to be up front about it and like you said to a lot of people it looks really easy and and great and I do have a great wife now but it wasn't without a lot of different struggles.
And as people -- read the book.
They come to me and -- you know I feel so close to you now because I went through something really similar.
And they start to tell me their story -- it's not similar but what is similar about it is that it was a great hurdle of some type of trauma.
A tragedy a death in the family.
You know my own family came to an explosive and destructive and and the message that comes out of it is that this is a richness of experience to grow pot no matter how bad you feel right now.
You know what not to do in the future you know how to pick yourself up and go forward you can move forward.
I think she's so that's -- thought -- path to go to -- Big time apples and oranges to compare.
What you went through with a lot of these folks who don't do in these.
Storm ravaged areas who have nothing now -- trying to piece together stuff now.
It's not there.
And and and that's and not -- fine from -- -- got over our problems with the you know the mother from Howland and all of that and and and relate to me without anything.
And and probably without an -- for a while to come.
I think that's what makes America great that's what makes this country great that's what makes all of us as a community great.
Is that we do no matter how bad things look out there no matter how -- you feel there is that string inside of -- somewhere there is someone around GO.
That you can go to that you can band together where.
To pull yourself up and move along no matter how dark it looks right now but if there's an eight out of a modern -- -- -- and -- sister along the.
And only give way to into the Balkan cats and -- might have done that.
But it it's very tragic it's really sad and and and yet you're very pleasant -- -- obviously came over that but.
When you look at it now when these people's you know Hugo Hugo -- don't know suffering you don't know -- this.
I would say that that.
I have had those moments in my life where you hit real rock Rodham we're used to scrape the bottom of the barrel and you to save yourself you don't know how.
You know you're -- -- freakish image we -- how you're gonna pick yourself up.
And it's doing what you can't.
You do and you did end -- -- he did yeah and I'm thinking you know.
We don't need was that -- adorable little child -- in the -- And you count some great stories that time yeah but behind the scenes is a little girl you were dealing with.
Can't tell your mother you know kicking out of harsh it used seventy -- old -- my dad thinking this isn't human.
Yeah I I you know I had a driving relentless the Hollywood version of a tiger -- you know that.
She's sort of and drove us to perfection and everything weather -- and -- team in earned horseback riding you know.
Tap dancing whatever was school straight is anything less than it -- so -- think.
Think that's very very -- then that that in a you know woods was not acceptable.
That your sister dealt with -- it's.
And so in these hard charging.
Being the -- environment can.
It was a take no prisoners attitude.
It was and we were two really different children you know and and now that I had two -- my own I've seen them come out I see you back.
Kids are just born differently you know and they respond to the same type of parenting totally differently.
Com for myself it drove me to perfection it drove me to demand the most for myself it drove me to study.
Inhuman hours you know I could keep going relentlessly like you do around here I mean I could really charge charter for my sister.
Even when she felt like she couldn't -- and she couldn't make my mother happy and she couldn't achieve the same things that she saw me doing.
It's -- -- her and it took.
I think bite out of her confidence and of who she thought she while others to have him.
You know my dad and my dad and I are very close we email and we talk every day.
And he was a small business owner he was someone who worked all the time we had a very traditional family -- he would go out.
And learn and my mother would stay home and take care of us but I talk to my sister about it many times and we never appealed to him.
For help because we always knew -- be alone with her again and later you know we knew that they fashion season.
I don't have a relationship with my mother any longer.
He went from California to -- your I did for what CNBC was yeah Emerson fox.
That's a big thing to approve natives it is adorable.
-- is very handsome husband he's found.
Is that the new license was -- party your message.
You move on yes you can never get over.
I mean I'm sitting here crying on national television so you know you could say how much you can't get over it by.
I think the messages that you can turn the page and that you can have a joyful life and you can start over the matter how hard it's.
Guns are on nurse and I certainly a different feel -- live or die at -- stage mothers daughters I would tell you -- A lot of us fox talent I have written books but if you and some quite -- -- This is the best want.
I'm not exaggerating there aren't on I'm just -- -- pure emotional level -- and this time a year.
And for those affected by storms and calamities of hardships there's hope there's hope there's -- -- and when he went through hell of a lot.
And she's here now.
She's making all our lives difficult makes perfect if there is a good deal after that.
For them.
