Both sides pick -- up the pieces right now along the Israel Gaza border after reaching a fragile truce deal US secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

Negotiating that agreement between Israel and Hamas with the Egyptian president yesterday.

Retired four star general Jack Keane is a former vice chief of staff of the -- he advised.

Secretary Clinton for many years he is also a Fox News military analyst general always a pleasure to have you with us.

You know cease fires in that region of the world tend to be ephemeral they don't last very long.

What do you think of this one.

I think it's pretty much society and we haven't seen the last of hamas' rockets and missiles it's tenuous at best.

No one knows how how -- -- -- the last -- Secretary Clinton shuttle diplomacy from Jerusalem then to Ramallah then on the Cairo.

Prove beneficial here yes certainly I mean achieving a cease fire as a big plus for administration deserves credit for so little role -- to be sure.

But you know it it's not a major victory in the sense that we have a Middle East peace.

Which has been as elusive to this administration as it has been two previous ones but at the end.

Of her reign as secretary of state attorney has come to conclusion with mounting criticism over -- Gaza in the lack of security.

The solely -- -- there's applause.

Is surprised at how helpful when the new Islamist government of Mohammed Morrissey.

Really was in this process as a mediator.

Is standing up for the truce probably pressuring Hamas.

And of course their their benefactor.

Are you surprised at what they did you know but I think it's a pleasant surprise to me and -- this is not the government we -- we would have wanted to -- your post Mubarak.

Because they are Muslim Brotherhood does have the support so Muslim Brotherhood that is totally alien to us to solve this movement which a radical islamists but here he is openly supporting Hamas.

But at the same time broker a deal to stop Hamas from firing -- rockets so -- part of his motivation is a relationship with the United States.

BA did you receive from -- on a regular by one point five billion a year but they got a lot of the criticism.

That he has received in the past -- congressional leaders -- weeks will be subdued -- as a result yet money often talks in that region of the world especially impoverished nations.

On Egypt claims that.

Is that a singular salutary gesture or the real deal.

Well they probably have but this this is the toughest part of the deal.

To monitor it and that is the smuggling of arms and munitions and in -- Gaza -- Through Africa are originating mostly from from Iran I mean they'll say they're gonna do it they'll probably make some attempt to do it.

But I think we got a -- On us from ourselves there's still going to be smuggling of arms and emissions -- the -- -- would listen the truce is being called a 24 hour cooling off period.

To allow negotiations.

On.

The Gaza border crossings which.

Allegedly -- -- will begin to open up again but Israel simultaneously is insisting we -- absolutely not going to lift the five year old blockade.

So what's the difference although keep the blockade but to remove some of the restrictions of -- blockade is what exactly the blockade -- not been.

Permitting goods to come in to Gaza for certain goods.

And and this has not committed any exports so I think what they'll do is still be some of those restrictions.

In terms of what goods can command and probably summary.

Opportunity for export which would it improve the economy -- -- as well general Jack Keane who advised Hillary Clinton thanks very much legacy thanks -- due to.
