Us from Cairo joining us now Fox News Middle East and terrorism analyst doctor we'll be -- With a more on the fallout over the Egyptian president's bold move to seize power welcome it's great to have you here today thank you.

Thank thank -- thank you for having me.

You know on the heels of his high profile role in helping to secure a cease fire between Israel and Hamas.

Many -- -- diplomatic community today are saying they're surprised by more -- unprecedented power grab yet others say.

It's no surprise at all do you agree.

What -- not surprised at all for those who understand what the plan and the strategies of the Muslim Brotherhood have always been audit and would be in the future.

It is surprise to those in the west who have been told by their governments by our liberal democratic governments.

That Morrissey is the first democratically elected president of Egypt yet but then he's gonna work on becoming the next authoritarian leader according to V.

Opposition what we see right now is not just a technical problem over a one piece of legislation.

This is the triggering point -- -- what we see right now is a struggle between -- it's that the democratic opposition and authoritarian regime and the making.

Well you know back when those Egyptian elections were underway many people warned against electing more -- knowing that his ties the Muslim Brotherhood would surely have a direct impact on the nation's.

And now are witnessing firsthand.

All this had a manifesting itself could we see is civil war erupting there.

I don't think we're gonna see an immediate civil war or an urban fight between factual gonna see is an -- time.

-- the opposition which is very wide and broad.

Is going to try to put pressure on more seat to come back and then to stop this legislation is trying to impose.

Now it has led by the judges but behind and you have the lawyers and behind and you have -- Human rights groups and then you have or presentation of some of society.

And what most is gonna do next week as you have just announced is that he's gonna launch his own masses the most notable are very good at mobilizing many many people we're gonna see that on Tuesday and the fact.

There would be another response by civil society forces.

-- -- the military's role here under Mubarak the military backed him and therefore he was able to hold onto power what's the relationship right now with the military and Morsi.

That's an.

Exit question that would turn a lot of the things that could happen in Egypt when -- became president he moves quickly.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- He's trying to establish in the leadership and and -- -- -- -- he has some now.

What faithful to him but the bulk of the middle and then high rank of -- if you -- not like -- action because he knows they know that he's going to transform the army and appoint his Islamist officers instead.

You know he -- though still needs financial backing from the US do you think there's any leverage here.

For us to withhold funds if he doesn't back down and let the democratic process flow freely.

That's a problem because what -- has done over the past ten days or let's say last week when he sponsored -- cease fire agreement between Hamas has allies.

And Israel under the ages of of the adminstration.

He's now appearing in with the words -- administration as the guy who can do stabilization.

So now Washington has to make a choice are we gonna put more pressure on more -- so that he could release more freedoms inside Egypt.

But if we do so he may not work -- us on stabilizing the Gaza peace.

So it's going to be a very difficult position for the administration to deal was indeed it on the issue of Israel.

Hamas cease fire do you feel optimistic that is gonna continue to hold.

Look -- cease fire always hold depending on the intentions of the two sides and nothing is -- here.

The Israelis of course would like to commit to a cease fires up in their interest to just bombard Gaza suddenly.

But it's apple Hamas and Islamic Jihad and that -- sponsors into allies.

One is Egypt and -- and he most likely would like to see that's -- -- working because he's gonna get US support but then the other co -- other ally is Iran.

And Iran may at any time you know ask and demand that their supporters within Hamas or within Islamic Jihad of Palestine.

Would be engaged Israelis optical I want to decide that.

Stakes remain very high in that part of the world thank you so much for joining us today with your insights.

Thank you --
