And nothing says Christmas like a family picture with Santa and AK forty seven's perhaps maybe -- in your in your Christmas list maybe it's not.
Okay the Scott still gun club in Arizona offering families.
That unique photo -- It's Americana.
It's.
Everybody wants a red Ryder BB gun for Christmas.
So why not get a real -- when you're an adult think everyone should have a gun for protection and it's our right to be able to happen so why not.
Joining us right now general manager of the -- gun club Brian Kennedy.
-- you supply the props the guns you just bring your family get these pictures done right.
That's correct and how's -- -- That's going great this is our third year doing this at the -- -- gun club band every year continues to grow larger and larger.
A lot of folks turn this into a regular holiday tradition.
OK -- that this begs the question how.
The heck do you get started with Santa and guns.
-- -- started three years ago we had a customer actually a member of ours in the gun club that came in dressed as Santa Claus.
-- the other customers and members that we're and there are wanted to get their picture taken with them so we decided to formalize that can put together a structure -- -- an event.
Now do you do what do you say people say we're given at the wrong message sand and guns.
-- you get my Christmas list filled out or else.
Well I think that you know whenever you talk about firearms as always.
A divisive issue with some folks it's a very black and white you know industry either -- -- -- like numbers support them you don't for trying to do is that a little bit of holiday spirit into people's Second Amendment Rights to be able to carry in and purchase firearms and.
I mean it's anybody's right to do whatever they want especially when it comes to into the Second Amendment I know that there is a member of congress in Arizona.
A democratic member who is sensitive to the Gabby Giffords shooting incident.
And thinks it may be this is not the right image to portray how would you respond back to that gentleman.
Well I think that people have an individual choice to make if they don't want to participate in this they don't have to it's not that something that basically we just provide as a service to our customers and members -- -- -- all through the safety precautions remove the firing pins no fingers on the triggers we do completely free firearms safety class for families.
So we definitely wanna educate people about shooting sports improper shooting techniques to do you think his chances could spread to eastern -- the Easter Bunny with handling guns.
We don't have any plans for any other holidays at this point it's how does Santa feel about it.
-- been very supportive this is his second visit coming up here of this Sunday the second.
He seems to really want to get the word out there and he like -- -- -- the families enjoy the shooting sports together one thing I'm noticing.
Did you not have a rule out there don't point -- gun at Santa is that a rule.
That is correct with the we -- practice proper -- techniques.
Firearms pointed away outside of the pictures and again no fingers on the triggers -- not firing pins are going on Santa have you thought about that.
In regards to pointing could you give Santa -- -- Sent -- does not -- -- it's okay.
I think that's expects to actually slid off.
Okay Ron Kennedy is the general manager of the Scottsdale gun club where this has become a new -- thanks for explaining it to us.
Appreciate -- -- my pleasure thanks for having me.
Okay coming up.
