Brace yourself senator Rand Paul pretty -- something really big and ugly is going to happen.
-- is he talking about we spoke to senator Rand Paul a short time ago.
Senator nice user could be with him have you heard senator Harry Reid or any other democratic senator suggests.
Any cuts.
No and that's a real problem -- hear all these Republicans say no we're gonna raise taxes now we're gonna go back on our pledge.
That often heard any concrete proposals for cutting.
Also don't think we ought to have to trade tax increases for someone to address entitlements.
We're all Americans entitlement programs are broken why don't we just fix an instance in -- we have to give you a tax increase.
In order for you to think about fixing the entitlements -- made sense to name so what's gonna happen.
I think he'll be something really big -- the enormous ugly bill with a lot of stuff in it including raising the debt ceiling by a couple trillion dollars.
-- squish it all under one bill and sometime before Christmas they'll pass it.
And I'm not gonna vote to raise taxes I made a pledge -- the people of Kentucky's and I'm not raising taxes I took a pledge I signed.
Statement and -- that I wouldn't raise taxes nominated here to so what are you willing to do another some sort discussion about like closing loopholes -- -- -- that's an increase revenue you like that I'm -- for reforming the tax cut had been it would have to be at the very best revenue neutral I don't wanna raise revenues to the taxes.
-- -- raise revenues through taxes his gets the economy to grow.
You don't have to raise rates or even close loopholes if your economy was growing you know when the economy is growing for four years after the bush tax cuts we have funny revenue.
Revenue went down when the recession can't and the reason we have a lack of revenue in Washington it's too much spending.
And no economic growth.
So we don't have economic growth is the economy were growing at 4% right now would it funny revenue.
But you don't get the economy to grow about raising taxes that's what they -- -- do now -- I think it it's absolutely the wrong thing to -- Why do you think it's really appears to sway the American people that the president the leadership in the house and the senate can't -- -- -- sit down and work together mean it is now December we knew about this problem with the fiscal cliff since last July August of 2011.
And here we are on the eve of the of going off the cliff.
I think part of the problem is -- I still disagree with the fundamentals of what people calling the fiscal cliff.
Is the fiscal cliff cutting spending the sequester.
I think cutting spending is a good idea so I don't think that's a bad idea at all and I don't think it will lead to economic harm to cut spending that's what we should be doing.
The other half of the fiscal cliff is that taxes will go up.
Why don't want taxes to go up so why would I want him to go up on only half of the nation's income if you raise taxes on the top 1% that's 50% of the nation's income.
If you don't think raising taxes and recessions good idea what would be a good idea to raise -- on anyone.
So do you think.
Going off of fiscal -- would necessarily be a bad thing.
I think -- bad thing to raise taxes but a good thing to lower spending so I think you have to competing influences in what people calling the fiscal cliff.
That's why did make a whole lot of sense to me I don't accept.
That cutting spending is bad for the economy I think cutting federal spending which means less borrowing up here it's good for the economy.
But I do think taxes going up is a bad thing for the economy so I agree with -- half of the equation have fiscal cliff.
But then I don't agree that if taxes going up does that the economy why would we don't -- half of the taxes to fill up.
Love that serve a little bit like the reverse the Democrats -- they senator Harry Reid -- that they taxes go up he thinks it's a bad thing that spending.
Some alienating -- so that they had the reverse yeah I -- you can see while -- -- somewhat of an impasse we have different philosophies about government.
I think he should balance budgets not spend more than comes in.
And I think you should lower taxes not raise taxes in fact if you want to stimulate the economy.
I'm for cutting tax revenues all these Republicans who want to give up their taxpayer pledge and raise taxes.
I'm the opposite I wanna lower taxes because that's how we get.
Actually more economic growth and maybe more revenue if you cut tax rates so I -- month past election but I remember you know we we have.
Was when we aren't really -- -- curious how am I considering how would you think of running for president mean I think it's too early to tell.
-- we've got a lot of things we have to do in the next couple years I still wanna try to fix some of the programs we have not like to save Social Security.
Are reforming it -- with Medicare bills that do those.
I think we as Republicans have to start talking about how we as a party become a bigger party we have to attract more people we have to.
We have lot of work to do -- African American community we have a lot of work to do an Hispanic community.
And so I will talk about these things only part of the national debate.
Not set up on the mountain I'm good I'm interested in maybe running for president put way too early to really make firm commitment on you know whether I -- -- wouldn't your father help desk for us back.
I think I can count on -- they kind of didn't.
-- thank you so nice to say thank you.
