All right I wanna get to this vexing question of the day.
Which we have been asking you should win mean.
Be working outside the home all day a threat to marriage well apparently -- next guest thinks so that me.
Beating case and take a look at this graphic before we get to see them make -- the importance of marriage among young it mean when -- and -- and demand if we can put that up.
Didn't -- importance of marriage among the women in the rose nine percentage points from 1997 from 28 to 37 -- But those who may not finding man to marry he apparently because -- not all less interested dropping.
From what where -- -- twenty up from 35.
To 29%.
Now and according to Suzanne -- and that's because you women of all become too independent and we don't like to anymore us men.
World fed up with -- -- Suzanne -- a fairy thank you for being -- of -- -- tell.
He couldn't.
Well thank you for having me number one.
A number -- that is entirely wrong your premise I did not say that women should not work and that -- threatened by women working.
So let's start the beginning he said this article is not about being an obedient housewives are being submissive are not cooking or any attack.
It was a provocative article it was open ended no question and upset some people and you know that's OK it's OK to be thinking about something in -- And no way that you're not normally used to thinking about I think that's what it as a good reading does thanks so -- -- what -- -- -- -- what's your basic arguments -- -- So my basic argument is that women have been sold a script for the last twenty or thirty years.
That the notion that being feminine traditionally feminine.
Is something -- less than -- means that you are.
On to sort of I don't care if you will with men we're men have been made and and our secure -- and some -- to women so they need your reaction to when I said there.
Women need to get back in touch with their feminine side what I was referring to is that.
They have built up the last couple of decades this more masculine side of themselves -- well because they can talk to compete with the man.
And go out and -- -- -- this so called equality so let my work and -- my new book how to choose a husband doesn't -- Flip obviously China and say.
OKK that's fine so you went out you did that but the reality is.
-- women are turning off.
Meaning that.
That the quality -- that you're gonna use in the workforce to be successful that -- are not the same qualities that you're gonna use.
-- home at a relationship with your husband's.
Because that's an entirely different set of dynamics so what you really need to do is sort of know how to shift gears -- -- well from being one kind of you know had one kind of hurt so if you're not not -- different person but just a different.
A different way about you if you I think so yeah I want you stay.
What are you what are you saying.
About a woman it.
Out in the workplace what characteristics.
Does that woman to have.
That will prevent husband from liking her as much all wool will threaten her marriage what character's -- Oh and the what do you do -- -- -- that work -- you know your your -- your entire MO is different it's more aggressive here competing if -- well with other people so America isn't about competition it's supposed to be complementary relationship.
And what's happening is that a lot of women.
And we talked about the dearth of good men that are you know you hear this constantly and that was one of the reasons that I wrote the book by the way is because the last few years you've heard about the articles the end it -- All -- single ladies.
The -- -- sex on me going back a few years before that -- been necessary well.
It's eight Tuesday that you can.
Put those books are works piece of work out there.
And not have any backlash but when I turn the tables and may be asked given a different way and I'm asking women to look at women.
That all the sudden there's this -- and that sort of proves my point that women are kind of untouchable.
That it's become to the point where women can do no wrong and men are always to blame.
And I'm asking us to look at -- in it to and a different way into maybe think about.
And so I did it in a provocative way no question but there's more to the story there's a -- they're behind it.
And you you have to be able to step back and take a deep breath and not be sort of run by your motion -- course that's what's happening all over the Internet so.
-- later slightly overweight if commander.
So your saying that men do not like the characteristics.
We mean this show in the workplace to characteristics -- of independents power fighting for position etc.
so when the women leave their office place they got to go home.
And stop being much small and you'll woods -- a woman least sexy.
What does.
Mean you wanna leave that vague because they are gonna look like a legal right to know -- -- work.
Now what you should be doing your relations writes for the girl's wedding they wanted to make an indication of Michigan woman -- and femininity.
That -- when it went to the article is that we've lost.
Track that yin and Yang that masculine and feminine dance that went and together -- sort of split along nicely and right now we have become more of a competitive nature and that's that's sort of my argument that.
What you want to do when your relationship at home is isn't -- -- different from what you're gonna do when you walk out.
To go to work quite tremendous.
Something different than they do in the workplace then why don't they also have an ability to be sexy however that is defined as a man why don't they have ability to come back.
And that -- the responsibility to come back and be a different person -- -- -- it's funny because men.
Men aren't really the interesting part is that men have actually changed it's very -- -- we have the last several decades in terms of what they do it how I bet.
I don't know how old you are but I'm from I have older parents -- the World War II generation and men were very.
Hands off for example.
Their children not because they didn't law under because that's just the way it was back in those days and now we're GC.
And doing absolutely everything that that -- do it with their children so that I would see right there is any huge change something that women that men have done -- stepped up to the plate.
In that round so I'm saying.
You know -- it takes two and if there are problems with getting -- and -- together and if people are having a negative.
But as we do you have any -- upon us yet but the -- negative.
Approach to marriage as being something back.
Is going to hold you back or make you less than just my mentioning being feminine you know makes people's -- come out.
Because they've been -- to think that -- a negative light I remember seeing a -- -- -- with Sandra -- -- With Barbara Walters and she's told she said to her you know marriage to her.
Was gonna be chilly outside -- -- -- the end of who she lies that she got married at the end of who she was.
And that's the argument I'm making is that that negative attitude going into something will create a self fulfilling prophecy and if you see marriage -- a hierarchy.
And CN MS it was bad.
You're going to struggle and a lot of people don't see this until their way in -- now that doesn't it applies to everybody -- what I'm saying.
Doesn't apply -- you then justice -- -- but.
I'm saying that it doesn't fly in a lot of cases and I think it's some something that has to be rectified or can't be -- So are so I don't trust open but -- so your bottom line is here that that there isn't there a Manhattan dad who.
Do not like the independent -- of how -- style of women who work.
A -- those women when they come back to the home should change be more feminine more sexy.
Yep -- okay T shirt and tie guy and -- I would just say Suzanne that I think there are a whole lot of women in this world who.
Capable of doing all of that and don't necessarily have to I think they have to be who they want to be I would say that I'm surrounded.
By women Boston by women right here right now our executive producer Maria Callas and -- reduces -- Yankee are flow manager running around -- Lori.
They are all very independent very strong women they scare the but Jesus out of me here but I'm sure they are.
Fabulous and beloved by their husbands and -- -- when they go home as well I think it's possible to be both.
Okay.
Believe that it's all right Susan Suzanne Vega thank you very much the book is had to choose a husband.
And to make peace with marriage -- also -- a piece of foxnews.com.
Slash opinion it's a great -- -- thank you very much -- For being here Suzanne thanks for having me well.
