-- ambassador Susan Rice meeting face to face those -- topics GOP critics today on the -- and let's just say.
Things didn't go to.
The significantly.
Troubled by many of the answers that we got and some that didn't get.
And if -- don't know what happened just say you don't know what happened.
People can push you to give explanations and you can say I don't want to give bad information.
So one of those critics Senator John McCain is here -- only here.
-- there everybody I'm Neil Cavuto -- ambassador Susan Rice thought that today's meeting would clear the air on -- -- She was sorely mistaken because senators John McCain.
Lindsey Graham and Kelly I got now say they are more troubled than ever.
And that is spelling some trouble for the woman who might just be our next secretary of state.
The same -- -- initially blamed an anti Muslim film for fueling a spontaneous demonstration.
At the US consulate in Libya and not a planned terrorist attack and attack that left US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead.
And today those senators are demanding answers.
In -- first on fox Arizona Republican senator former president's -- -- John McCain who was at that meeting senator you didn't seem to get a lot out of.
I know I denied that when I -- -- -- by the way I thought you would that sexiest man alive for play time you know I was annoyed by that I was encouraged senator that he's a bit chunky.
This could be paving the way but.
But enough about me.
What did you learn maybe you are separated -- -- club that's -- this is going to be a tough interview now senator.
Have been nice but you've gone the other way.
Do you this frustration that she actually called for the need I what would be good idea dad.
Yes officer Republican leaders -- -- It seemed to -- what happened.
Well.
Some of the answers were hard to understand some.
Information that she had access to clearly.
Contradicted the statement that she made by the -- today after all this time she.
Issued a statement in in that statement she said she had given false information to the wrong.
To the American people.
About the spontaneous demonstration which obviously never took place.
But for example she also said.
Nationwide television that al-Qaeda was decimated.
That's just patently false and I asked why is -- that.
Statements should be made it to the American people and she really had no good answer for -- there was.
Lots of classified information.
That she gets briefed on daily they've indicated.
That this was not today hateful video that sparked days.
It's spontaneous demonstrations.
I still don't understand why.
Anyone would believe when you come with mortars and rocket propelled grenades how that could possibly be viewed as a spontaneous.
Demonstrations there's a lot of layers to this time.
You know we've we've we've tried for ambassador rice we did get a statement from call senator quoting your what we certainly -- That we had -- of information just days after the terrorist attack.
-- is often the case the intelligence assessment.
Has evolved.
Did.
Well that's another really big question this whole scenario why would it -- -- -- there were people who -- survivors of the consulate.
Who were flown to Germany who were interviewed by the FBI.
And they told they they should absolutely there was no demonstration.
Yet for a couple of weeks.
The intelligence community -- we wrestling with signal intelligence and others.
It's classified information that they had.
Which led them to wait two weeks before.
They could come out and say that there was no spontaneous.
Demonstration that this was a planned attack by al-Qaeda.
Again who changed the talking points that was used.
By.
Ambassador rice and wife -- -- what circumstances why wish references to al-Qaeda.
Left out there's so many things have happened in the interesting thing is -- you know we knew within hours all the details.
When we got thin line in the -- there every -- want to make a movie out of it and here we are ten weeks later.
And finally have our ambassador to the united nation who appeared.
On every national Sunday show is now said.
That she gave false information concerning.
How this.
How this tragedy happen.
As far as the spontaneity.
-- a demonstration.
Triggered by a hateful video.
The president got upset -- yours and others going after her sing -- -- probably should go after him.
On the and and you pointed out in the prior visit here that.
She was the person they put out on -- weekend shows Friday after the attacks.
You think she was the right person.
Well she admitted herself and the president said that she had nothing to do it when guys see that's another question.
It needs to be asked why was she sent out if she really had nothing to do we've been -- But also there -- is clear classified information.
That indicated that this was a terrorist.
Attack from the beginning is it.
Like how could the FBI possibly.
Not tell the CIA.
What the survivor's.
Dad.
Within two days after the tragedy and that is that there was no demonstration.
And it's mind boggling some of it.
As -- might be the president's choice to succeed Hillary Clinton as secretary of state that with -- case would you.
Supporter.
Well I think everybody gets one be nominated and to go through the hearings and go through the debate and discussion.
But right now I would be very hard pressed if it -- John Kerry would you sports.
Again let's go through the process.
John Kerry came within a whisker of -- -- the United States I think guys.
Works in his favor.
But I'd love to hear him make his case but I don't.
I don't have any thing in these background.
Like this tragedy.
In -- guys see that that would make me.
Really want to carefully examine the whole situation.
That we use you know went pretty well as talk that he wanted you to be -- ticket.
In 2004.
-- but that he knows he's frustrated that he could be passed up with the secretary of state position.
-- No I taxing times when.
Very careful about his views on on this situation and appropriately so I -- I've not heard him expression.
Any news.
If I can move on to -- notes.
A lot more of your colleagues are -- Taking it.
But different Stefan has pledged to -- And at that they -- -- agree to that anymore camp doesn't by last count you among.
What it again.
I admire Grover Norquist -- -- he -- -- -- -- -- believes and he has a role to play in the the scenario.
Of the Republican Party.
But I have always win against ethanol subsidies sugar subsidies.
All of those things that.
I thought were wasteful unnecessary and frankly.
The result.
Special interests and I still -- opposed to -- Increases as I told you -- all of my career I've gone uniform and fought against these.
Unwarranted subsidies have room directly result of lobbying rather than national good.
So you disagree with him on when he says getting rid of those.
Credits allowances breaks whatever you want to call it senator without corresponding spending cuts great -- I don't know if it breaks the -- or not.
But I have said that I'm opposed to tax rates increase because I think it hurts the economy and I think most economists.
That I respect believe that but throughout my career I've gone to the -- time after time -- appropriations bills and he's farm bills.
They have these support.
Earmarks -- terrible and egregious.
Subsidies which I have opposed all along and I'm sure Grover has been very well aware of that.
He has excellent conversations threats to you is said that the wanting it does concern -- though is that Republicans seem to be running around -- -- -- their -- after the election.
And acquiescing on revenues.
Letting the Democrats steamrolled them and he says they're gonna pay for that two years from now.
Do you feel threatened.
Well first I think Republican Republicans have to -- some things and we need to be for things and we need to be for spending cuts.
And we need to be for.
Entitlement reform that has got to be.
Done -- if we're ever going to be serious about.
This -- issues I don't think we should disrespect or Grover Norquist anymore than I believe that we should.
Disrespect The Heritage Foundation or any other.
America eighty I -- these guys I respect -- we just don't always have.
Grieve and buddies and I think senator I'm sorry -- -- -- -- he says that there's much more propensity to come up with creative ways to raise revenue.
Then -- to cut spending and that it's disproportionately so and the Republicans are going along with this.
You know -- -- It's these.
Well I I think first of all the negotiations haven't seriously begun and people have staked out.
Various positions so I think he would have to look at the product convenient these negotiations evening will be -- -- calamity -- -- Not sure I don't think we will because I think the markets will start to tell us that we got today.
To do something because of the devastating impact of not achieving something.
But I can tell you one possible scenario and I don't like it's.
And that is he just kicked the can down the road you know sort of suspend everything for.
X number of weeks or months another.
An area that concerns me if we don't put entitlement reform on the table and we're not very serious we know that Medicare and Social Security -- going broke.
Senator thank you very much and normally senators you know -- every prominent guests I have myself write them -- thank you.
Because I really do admire that and and you just let me know prior -- I don't victims talking us through it you don't like you don't.
-- I just a guy.
Now it's not that at all it's just that I don't want you to take your time.
Where is that you have to devote sex addict and the issues and -- dad and dad talking to grow Norquist you know says things that self.
But I do appreciate the opportunity of being on your show and I think you do a great job in -- -- yeah.
Carlin that's who it is good to be cut Out Magazine letters -- -- -- can't get -- pledges or John McCain.
Senator former president to kind of thank you.
