Pastor Rick Warren is considered to be one of the most influential religious leaders in the country in his book the purpose driven life has been read by more than sixty million people worldwide.

It is currently being re released to celebrate its tenth anniversary.

I sat down with -- pastor to talk about the book and even asked him to share his opinion of President Obama take a look.

And joining us now all of the pastor of saddleback church and the author of the purpose driven life record hey -- good position -- long time with 32 million copies of the survey was done that the purpose driven life was was read by what 20% of the 200% of -- -- sixty not people.

You know that's that's that the ten years ago and you -- 90% of the proceeds to charity yeah.

And -- -- -- it's usually the opposite effect.

Yeah most people I -- -- -- -- -- -- I could have blown out and bought an island and had people serving little drinking liberals and the rest of my life -- when you write a book in the first instance it's not about -- -- look at -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I I'm not gonna spent a lot of time on politics look let me ask you then do you think.

If five years ago phys Ed to you after his thirty some -- states California I believe twice you told me before we came on the air voted against gay marriage here right.

But this year it changed.

-- it -- would you -- fought five years ago that would happen would you fought five years that Colorado would legalize marijuana for recreational use them and what does that tell you about American society because some people think that this is evidence that America morally.

Is shifting and changing in the culture has shifted and changed well there's no doubt about that each generation the do you our morals do shift and do change and we can see that in a lot of different areas but a lot of it also has to do with how things are framed.

You see if you take -- issue and you frame it as being rights.

Issue.

More than I ever go go I believe in free rights okay.

And -- and -- and I honestly I think what we have to look at is.

Are we looking to the government to bring.

Moral recovery to the nation the answers you better not.

Because that's never happened if it doesn't happen.

If not if there's going to be a more recovery in America it's not gonna happen by laws if I actually thought that you could change people's behavior by making -- I've become -- Politician Thomas -- in common sense said it government in its best status but a necessary evil -- -- were state and intolerable wanna.

He also said that -- the guides and dictates of conscience what irresistibly obeyed -- there would be no need for any other lawmaker gap and then not that not being the case.

America our founders and framers.

Adopted a system of limited government right that's change people look to the government to be there and -- it change because trust is gone down.

The greater the -- in a relationship that's true in a marriage.

It's -- -- an organization its German government discrimination.

The -- the trust the from new rules you need.

With the less trust you have the more you start heaven's sake let's go off about one let's make a lot of that -- what often happens -- -- in an organization.

Our corporation somebody gets off base so to make a law to -- and again and 90% of the other people -- weren't getting even bother him but now they're hindered by this law she get more and more regulations.

For the few people.

You don't seem concerned to me and I would have thought you might have been and present -- -- Jerry Falwell -- the moral majority got I would have thought he'd be a little more concern that may be America's lost.

Touch with in some -- still don't know I don't -- that family I do believe that.

I absolutely give -- that effect will -- Byrd who was a Jewish philosopher of the previous generation call that the cut flower syndrome.

And what it is is -- flowers are beautiful but if you Cottam and you put -- at a base.

They're -- -- they're going to stay beautiful for a period of time but eventually they're gonna -- because you cut him off from the roots.

As America is cut off from its moral and spiritual and ethical -- We're now seeing the flower -- I actually had a debate with this in people's -- in Tiananmen square with the Communist government a number of years ago.

And I promise that you guys want the economic success of the west.

Without the moral and ethical underpinnings.

I said if you capitalism works because there's a Judeo Christian basis underneath it that says treat people well.

Treat -- with integrity take care people things like that if you take that out you just take.

Rob -- here you get what happened in -- oligarchs Dow future one can put the bucks for another if for example.

If somebody is a virgin -- -- married yet they are considered ought.

Yeah if people now regularly greater numbers live together right abortion on demand right is is settled at least according -- -- always the most those.

Bear's -- value -- than the that gay marriage drug legalization.

What is that.

Your past -- those -- things you disagree with right absolutely -- remember the the meet my my what I don't agree with is that the way to stop them is law.

And I tell you why because.

Book by the time something gets into the water.

It's already downstream.

Politics is always downstream from culture.

When you start making a lot to stop this stop that it's already in the culture do you you met President Obama back in 2008.

And and I'm going to get in the politics but the union didn't just say don't want answered your own -- what do you think of them what do you think of how he's got.

I think.

Every leader disappoints.

And there are certain things that president Obama's done -- deeply disappointed and obviously that that.
