Had -- revise retooled and re released.
This fascinating book has taken people by storm I spoke to warned earlier this week and asked him why he believes so many people across the globe.
Have connected with the book's message.
It's there three fundamental questions of life the question of intention.
But what is my purpose the question of existence why am I alive the question with significance.
Does my life matter that -- -- universal questions so everybody wants to know the answer to that and when the book came out ten years ago of course.
It ended up but being read by about sixty million Americans and in the last ten years I've I've received at least a half a million letters.
People whose lives were changed by -- -- I still even today get you know several hundred today.
I know that what you're hoping -- -- to -- new audience younger generation of readers who may be.
Affected by this message and perhaps their lives can be transformed as well.
A girl who was twelve years old when purpose driven life came out is now 22.
And she needs to know that the purpose of her life I really care about destroy something generation because.
As I talked to him and I spend most of my time talking to this age group -- I've been on university.
Two are speaking at different colleges and end -- I find that though a lot of rules say field.
My life is in limbo because I can't get a jobs.
I I -- for years going to college and then it's now been a year 23 years that I can't even.
Get any job much less the job I I trained for.
And I feel like I'm I'm in -- of had to move back -- -- my parents end up.
There there's a sense of despair and I thought they need a sense of hope they need a sense of direction -- purpose so while I revise the book for that generation.
Not this wonderful that you're doing that but what do you say -- people today obviously many people are living through tough economic times.
Many people are remain without a job we've also seen in the headlines the after effects of what has hurt his -- has done -- so many people.
On the East Coast people really feel helpless vulnerable.
When you take a look at their lives and they're looking for answers what's the best message you can give them.
Well the best message is that that there's hope beyond themselves.
That if if it was all up to media I'd probably be in despair to.
You need to realize some basic things like your your value as a person has nothing to do with your valuables.
And yourself -- has nothing to do with your -- -- the greatest things in life aren't things.
And when we go through a recession like we've now been in almost five years.
And things are tough you have to say well there must be mortal life and simply making money and of course there is.
And so if the tough times force us to look for deeper values more important.
Issues that turn to god that's good thing.
-- indeed it is.
I know today is a world aids day and this is a very important day for you and your family.
You've spent quite a bit of time in Africa raising awareness and help people.
Who are confronting this challenge talking from on about what this represents to you and what -- Do -- terms of the outreach right now.
Saddleback Church has always been a leader and the fight against HIV and aids we've had national conferences every year and of course this year.
And all six of our services on Saturday and Sunday.
We are we're emphasizing.
HIV and aids that also care orphans and vulnerable women and children.
But the theme for this year's -- world aids day is getting to zero.
Getting to zero new infections zero mother child transmissions.
-- -- zero deaths from aids zero.
But stigma and it's not about church we've also added the 10.
Orphans and that we're working in this area we have -- piece teams out of -- back.
Of my members have gone overseas in the last ten years actually and a 196.
Doing what we call the peace plan.
Promote reconciliation equip leaders assist the -- care for the sick educate the next generation and will be doing reports on that this weekend.
And working toward an aids free world.
All that would be a wonderful wonderful -- to look towards end I know the work that you're doing is tremendous.
And I would imagine that the just one moment in the sense that it's -- -- -- because some of these spots that you presented out there what are my favorite.
Quotes is that we are a product of -- we're not a part of our past we don't have to be a prisoner of it.
You know and I love that exactly because that is something I think that can apply today.
And have deeper meaning for many people who are trying to reflect on.
What is their life's purpose.
Actually added two new -- -- chapters in the book that deal with the -- most common problems that I picked up over the last ten years since the book was written.
There are two things that cause people to miss the purpose for their life what is envy and the other is people pleasing.
-- is I must be like you to be happy.
And and people pleasing as I must be polite to invite you to be happy.
Both of these will cause you to get detoured.
God never makes a clone he always makes originals and if I'm worried about what she thinks or how he -- -- trying to be like somebody else I can't believe god made me to be.
And yet we live in a culture.
Where envy is the center of our culture every advertisement teach -- -- to -- the other people but if I get focused on being like somebody else.
I'll miss my purpose for life.
If you live for the approval of others you will die by their criticism and you will miss the purpose got -- for your life.
Wise words very wise man you can find the past Warren's book it's a little book stores and a portion of those proceeds will be donated to charity.
