Well this is the time a year for a lot of big time movies.

To be released by the studios these are movies that a lot of the -- hopeful get them lots of awards come Oscar time Golden -- time.

The -- -- a look back at the year 2012.

And look at some of the worst rated movies is for movies that probably at one point or another folks at very high hopes for but it didn't quite work out that way.

That actually is editor in chief of rotten tomatoes dot com which is a great website you can find him on Twitter at that actually our act and -- -- -- And rotten tomatoes is that rotten tomatoes on Twitter courtesy -- -- thanks very much for being here.

-- thanks for having me so these are the three sort of -- worst of the -- right.

Yes well although you know we've got a new one that we should probably add to that list this week but -- Yeah some of the worst movies this week probably the first -- would be a thousand words.

Eddie Murphy movie.

And that wasn't actually even supposed to get released to the only reason that got taken off the shelf.

And putting theaters is because Eddie Murphy was set to host the Academy Awards earlier this here.

Then Brett Ratner I got kicked out of producing awards show it's already Murphy laughed.

But that film distributor was still kind of left with this terrible movie that never should have got released.

And it got to 0% on our -- no critics liked it at all.

So this -- -- for folks who aren't familiar with rotten tomatoes is is sort of what you do -- you aggregate all of the different reviews in major newspapers and publications around.

The country.

And let.

People know what that professional critics are saying about them.

Yes we run a percentage.

That we call the tomato meter.

That really measures positive reviews for a movie.

I'd simply percentage of good reactions.

From professional critics like you said -- not really around the world actually.

And at 60% -- about we caught fresh below sixty we caught rotten.

And unity ticket much lower than zero and a percentage.

We'll also getting zero is a movie called the last ounce of courage.

I don't even know that I heard of -- yeah.

Well that movie got a big release in the midwest but hadn't really gotten -- out on the -- it's actually -- -- DD this week.

This week I stars Marshall -- who some people might remember is the guy.

Who has the showdown at the and -- -- -- movie roadhouse with Patrick -- he's the guy who get -- who missed the last final fight scene with Patrick Swayze.

Add it -- it's a story about a guy who is.

Raging against.

Disease.

Idea that a government aid it's you know it's a crazy story couldn't really good -- -- know what I don't like -- -- -- it.

I think that they advertise on Fox News Channel.

Hoping to -- to get some publicity for the movie anyway hearts and I also got 0% and -- coming in with only 4%.

Is the apparition.

Another movie I never heard.

Yeah that's it's schlock horror -- that open up earlier this year you know a lot of the critics don't like.

Slasher movies this one was a particularly good -- sometimes.

You know movie on our tomato meter that's a scary movies or horror movie a slasher film might get something like 4050%.

And actually that's a pretty good score because most the critics don't like that type of film but this one only got 5% very small release I didn't do very well at all.

You know I didn't really do that -- box office either.

-- you alluded to this at the top that there is a new release that.

It ranks right up there with the three that we've just talked about.

What movie talking about.

I'm talking about playing for keeps with Gerard Butler -- Jessica Wheeler who with Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

All people who should know better.

This movie is getting a perfect storage getting the goose egg 0% nobody likes it at all.

I read -- -- very user that -- the papers today right didn't put a soccer cloture or something something like that is that I would talk about the same moving.

Yet yes he plays a guy who was a former professional soccer.

Player who.

Ends -- kind of washed out you know divorce but -- ends up.

Coaching his son's soccer team and all of these soccer moms start -- themselves out of.

That can't happen.

It's amazing that so many people sign on for these movies that.

You know they really don't stand a chance of doing anything but let -- -- it to be we weren't supposed to talk about this but I have to ask you while you're here the number one.

The best on your tomato meter what what was the highest rated movie so far 2012 match.

Between twelve you know that's a good question we've had some hundred -- I would say.

You don't probably the one who's doing the best right now is a movie called how to survive a play.

And it's a documentary about aids activists and last -- checked it was.

I -- not a 100% it was right up there and with the lottery is almost all the critics.

I say that it's a fantastic -- -- that's.

He is editor in chief of -- in tomatoes dot com you can find him on Twitter at them after the -- on Twitter that could be website is at rotten tomatoes and rotten tomatoes dot com good to see you Matt thanks very much for joining us.
