-- let me move on I would be part of that let you guys go I wanted to just Brit had talk a little bit of bad day a subject that caught our attention here some I.
-- getting fed degree of criticism for attending a religious event the group -- USA.
Over the weekend.
Congressman to you first that should should get -- I should anybody in public life a governor or senator -- congressman which is that they be able to do what ever they want in their private life or Doerr is their area.
Is does do you cross the line here when you attend something.
Now by going to church -- attended.
A a religious kind of an event now.
You don't cross the line -- -- fact American politicians have done that.
For all of our history.
I don't see any problem with that whatsoever that is a a public expression.
Of of faith.
Is a far cry from the government.
Imposing.
A government supported religion on a country that's where the line seems to should exist.
But does -- -- trying to -- in this country right -- -- -- does seem a little -- emphatic criticize.
Any public official for attending.
Our religious and -- showing it all of us should just relax a little bit and and let these things let all of -- public figures attend whatever event they want to provided it's not something that's promoting hate which clearly this wasn't.
-- one what's the problem here.
Right and you know what I Jonathan I'm I'm not sure I disagree with the congressman too much you're right as long -- it's not promoting hate as long as it's not putting public pressure on.
The citizens of Kansas to -- you know to strive to one religion over another.
To be excluded or to feel marginalized somehow I mean that's that's more of not sort of -- the letter of the law but the spirit of the -- that everybody should feel included no matter how sort of much of a minority of religious.
Affiliation you have I personally I mean I grew up in new England and a Roman Catholic we were a lot more sort of private with our expressions of faith and if it was more about the family and and more about you know smaller communities we weren't as public and and I don't think it's always been as public an expression of faith that.
Know our founding fathers also had very sort of private thoughts on.
On matters of faith but.
The fact of the matter is he should absolutely feel entitled to worship his god in any way he sees fit and if that's you know with a TV camera on in and of big sort of you know -- -- -- the arena then by all means Sam Brownback should feel absolutely well within his rights to do that.
All right OK -- thank you very much indeed we just lost our signal with the congressman so thank you do congressman rob although pre former Republican.
Congressman who is joining us from Denver and Montana forma stock over the Kerry presidential campaign thanks very much to you to --
