If members of congress that they were taken a lot of holiday break well they better think again house majority leader Eric Kantor warned lawmakers they will stay in Washington until fiscal deal is reached.
Congressman Alan west joins us and before that the holiday idea Spain in Washington you have said that to negotiate with President Obama is to quote you silly.
Well I think that when you look at what just happened today.
The Federal Reserve has decided they're going to go into what is quantitative easing 3.5 anti money printing money fancy way to say -- the tune of 45 billion dollars per month.
For us to buy a phone -- stocks now this whole argument that we're having.
Is about 85 billion dollars per year so when you put -- in that context when you understand that revenues have increased in the -- America about 10%.
The spending by the federal government has increased by 16%.
We have a federal government is spending about 25% of our gross domestic product.
This is not a revenue issue is about a spending issue and so I think that what we need to do is come -- -- the right type of legislation.
To solve this thing keep these tax rates where they are.
And then if we want to combat next year and truly do the right things for -- the comprehensive tax reform -- really solve in this.
And promoting economic growth -- and wealth expansion then let's do it.
But we got a mission to do and we can't go home until we take care.
Art is meg going home business now I roasted speaker Pelosi and a -- and Greta wire at 623.
Tonight because she says that the holiday is for bonding with families and -- -- with families you -- done -- work for the last eighteen months you to do all the bonding you want -- -- -- you know about this.
And -- and I thought what kind of example -- for our military where we got them overseas missing in their holidays and you losses here I'm -- -- the -- -- but.
Whining that yet that you can't have your vacation.
We'll see that's the thing that I -- -- -- perspective that I have.
There many times I've been away from my family -- missed birthdays and my children Christmas New Year's Thanksgiving what have you.
We have a mission that you have to do in the military.
You're there -- seven days a week to -- 65 days out of the year to make sure that you provide the the common defense send -- protect this nation from the seventies we need to be focus on what we need to do right now and that is to come -- with a solution.
For you know -- on the spending problem that we have in this country.
Not a revenue issue.
And that's why say negotiating with the president is really not a Smart thing to do because tour for 2000 dollars.
You know you want to raise taxes on those tax rates that's not want to solve the problem it is really just taken may eighth teaspoon wore -- the ocean.
But in the -- -- issues stemming I guess and -- really rubs me the wrong way.
Is if -- -- night after night senate for eighteen months.
Everybody Washington the president on down has known about -- -- sure they had the super committee that was supposed to decide something by.
November or December of last year the super committee wasn't able to reach an agreement so what the super committee do stopped.
It -- work the next month there's there's nothing to stop the super committee or the president.
Or even leader Pelosi is not complaining about losing their vacation.
Not this stuff -- for eighteen months to do the work and in fact what happened is congress now I didn't -- -- work but begin in August of this year.
What I'm vacation.
Then campaigned we pay the salaries from -- to campaign.
In order to get the job back and then what happens now is that there's -- because you can't spend the holiday is.
With your family and I think of the families across this country who are worried about jobs -- -- a holiday they gonna happen if congress goes home -- doesn't solve us.
-- -- -- you see the same frustration with the people up in New Jersey they're waiting for the the recovery efforts from FEMA when you have trailer sitting around.
Look Greta -- house represented is already passed legislation.
That was stave off sequestration for full year we found budget cuts that legislation sitting on the -- -- that's something that Harry Reid can take up.
He do you wanna put him but you look at he's had a budget the president budget from the house and he just -- feels and just sits on -- -- -- -- suspect he's gonna go home for holidays and that's a very frustrating thing because the one costly ones who want it simply isn't freshman well that's -- -- -- one we're -- -- that's the one costs.
Social do that we have is to produce a budget.
After three years they have failed to do that -- the senate led -- Harry -- so you've got a big issue there.
Because this is a violation of their constitutionally mandated duty responsibility.
But this is not a hard thing to solve and I think that we should stay here until we get it resolved and you know I'm more ready to do that.
I'm not anyone in good conscience cannot stay here to get itself especially about eighteen months to do it thinking about what demand -- -- -- -- Americans are worried about jobs are so worried about everything -- -- -- whine about not -- -- if Barack posted that this political -- Skype for families who want to -- -- -- This didn't get a certain individuals that are whining and I think that the most important thing is -- -- -- and look the the president's commission that he set forth the Simpson Bowles commission.
Has some good recommendations -- do I want you to do yeah absolutely we've talked about that in the house that's one of the things that we brought forward so we -- -- with a viable solutions.
That -- based upon the real problem we have -- Washington DC a spending problem not a revenue problem.
And what Ben Bernanke announced today let you know that this economy is not -- they recover situation.
He say that they wanna continue to do this until we get unemployment less than six and a half that series has spent 45 billion dollars a month a month a month and and what is that -- -- do for.
The inflationary.
Process when it comes to gas prices and food commodity prices -- that will reflect those middle income -- Well we'll see we'll see who cares osu goes on vacation of interest in the same I'll be right here I got -- -- yeah I think guys -- thanks to her.
