All the fun stuff and we're here with a very special guest for our very first interview here on set.

Telling it Leon yes and I think you're known as a singer as an actor with senior long believed that's also what and you played west.

I was west the warbler on these kind of -- -- on was that super fun it was I mean to be a part of something that is such a cultural.

Phenomenon is such a great advocate for music yeah you know is with so so cool that it's really.

Really don't get much sun in your -- you no longer -- you do you make any guest appearances no I haven't been I've been kind of busy doing a lot of stuff on Broadway last season I was in the production of Scotts felt that news is on Broadway.

At the circle -- square theater which is greater than I'm working on it a new Broadway Show.

Called allegiance -- pitches starring Lee and George K fine start second -- -- got to -- last long gone and done.

Side we -- our out of town tryout in San Diego -- so when we're hopefully coming to Broadway sometime next year all right.

And so for people who are fans of yours and I know we have a lot of watching people -- getting to know you right now.

Tell -- a little bit about yourself I know you're born and raised in New York City yeah I'm a born and raised Brooklyn native my parents actually still there may not be -- Brooklyn tech and I went to a math and science has put New York caught Stuyvesant High School there.

And but you know I was doing my studies during the day and then I would.

Save -- -- my allowance money and go get a half has to get it TK TS who -- -- Broadway Show race.

You know after school and I would do the high school musicals and somehow the math and science -- you know into theater as part of my concentration.

That's what I decided to do and I went at Carnegie Mellon university in Pittsburgh.

To study music theater and done I lucked out I graduated had a Broadway Show this week no big deal yeah I think.

And it was the 2002 revival of not far from solved.

So an ever since then I've been lucky enough you know -- it just to -- doing this and in state.

But as a performer as a profession and that in addition to the work on Broadway of course we're here to have you talked to us about your music comment about the CD that -- come out and we are going to play a little clip of it.

Who want to introduce you to some of his music if you don't know it.

Here's a little -- Okay.

We want to make sure that people know exactly how powerfully the voices.

And we want to play that clip -- -- up front that was actually from a concert that I recently did at this.

Brand new beautiful space called 54 below.

And it's the basement of hit the historic studio 54 to yeah nightlife -- the seventies and right and you know that that space is gone through such that such an interest in transformational went from being a nightclub.

To this Broadway theater and my second -- -- I was actually in that building as well of the senate -- revival of Pacific overtures that was there.

And then now -- turned the basement of the space into.

Broadway's cabaret room you know it's kind of were -- prop -- folks like like me go and down and and you are more intimate.

-- -- are more intimate concerts and -- pilot -- and -- the room you know it's -- bit earlier this year and so I was lucky enough to also perform there as well house is ready Sunday.

How special let's talk about the CD it's all cover you.

-- Broadway that's a favorite Broadway lots of years -- I'll cover you I wanted to name the album.

Alchemy for two reasons -- I'll cover you it's my favorite brought a -- song from rent a show that I did.

On Broadway I was in the final company the last two years apparent that it was on Broadway.

And I also wanted to do an album of cover tunes so if there was a soundtrack to my life this.

Album which he would see you handpicked elevated I did yes Elvis songs kind of have -- a special meaning to me.

But -- we also decided that we wanted to make the listeners hear the songs.

In a brand new and fresh way so they're arranged with a jazz trio of -- which -- piano bass and drums and then also with a string quartet.

The kind that those are the only instruments we've used on the album there's ones there's one song let's just guitar but we really wanted to focus on how to we.

Meet these songs sound new and exciting infraction like what the -- -- -- for the first time with just these instruments.

General lot of artists a lot of -- musicians that -- you do this because I saw on your website which -- will tell people to go to there it is right there.

On www.

-- online dot net I was going through your web site.

And what I appreciated so much that you put on there.

Was that video of you in rehearsal yes.

And and getting a chance to see I mean everybody loves behind the scenes the -- shot so keep keep those coming because it's so great to see the work that goes into this.

You hear it it's fantastic but to be able to have that background and that history of what you went through to make this news on is really something special tell us about the -- -- -- You know it's so interesting I always I'm an only child in a grip as -- only -- of immigrant parents who could only -- -- -- I didn't have any Brothers and sisters you know.

But.

I think I got into the -- -- -- -- theater because it's instant family right and I think I got into it you know you can get into it for the money and the fame but I got into it because.

Every day my job is to collaborate with other artists -- create something new.

And I have three amazing musical collaborators on the CD with me.

Michael Slater who's the head of yellow sound people.

He's also she Rivera's it's not musical director wow and she'd and also Alan -- are also on his label was well that's great -- folks on there so I knew it was going to be well taken care of there.

Might basis.

-- -- some of the arrangements her name is Marion McSweeney didn't and she does a lot of jazz arrangements for Jamont -- and other.

Just artist she's a real -- cool -- have yet you know the facts and Gary Adler.

Is also my musical director plays -- piano.

On the album and he's actually the musical director across the street here at the Radio City Music Hall I don't -- the spectacular and he's also one of the -- composers.

Other hit off probably -- Alter boys so I had a really good musical minds that need help me on this album and it's really labor of love between all four of us.

It's so nice to you to recognize those musicians my husband's a drummer so I'll -- you know like it is sometimes artists -- seat in -- center -- don't get to hear about the band.

On the -- of -- atmosphere I think I've only as good as my -- -- Let's talk about some of the songs quickly before we have to let you go -- selling your favorites I know that some of -- you know you've got to Madonna song.

And tell us about what other artists -- -- the Madonna song is so funny it's it's Papa don't preach shelf which you know I as an -- Kate you know growing up and it's Chinese -- parents barely spoke into.

This -- at eight years old and I've you know Madonna doesn't have the most family friendly.

Liberation Strahan did it was kind of racing in the eighties right but.

I didn't know eight years old so I learned every -- every Madonna song and I felt that the top my lungs that you know this a -- right I don't preach.

It's so controversial but but -- my parents to know any better readers that they would let me think you know it's kind of like all this week we all have those songs you know you know lay lady lay you -- -- Others thought -- like a kids you know everybody learns the leaders that's -- the what's the song really -- not I have wanted to do is shout out to all those inappropriate song that's Corey that we and I was also wanted to include some top forty songs I wanted to include Kate Perry's firework on their T yeah.

Because it's a song that I feel like this is such a big top forty hit everybody knows it.

It's actually a wonderful solved for the about the -- -- -- a wonderful song about recognizing.

Kind of that's the beauty and the spark that we -- have in office.

You know as individuals and so I wanted to kind of strip away the big dance field with Katie version and like really focus on her words.

And her music and personality is -- so.

What a great idea yeah and we want to tell people to go to the website where can people buy this -- -- you can buy it wherever you get all all the music that you like Amazon.com.

And iTunes.

Spotify all of those great things.

All right and here's a look at telling Italy owns CD that you see there on the screen and www.

-- Online dot net we can find out more about you your music your life your work thank you so much for being -- -- -- -- storm one great to have you.
