I'm Laura -- so glad that you're here with us it's Friday.

Getting ready for the weekend sure you've got some shopping to do -- you've got things on that list.

But you get a little time to relax and go watch a movie or two right.

And because of that we have our friend from Los Angeles Matt actually editor in chief of rotten tomatoes dot com.

Always a pleasure love seeing you on Friday and today we're talking about the Hobbits.

Yes I -- movie is in the community it's not gonna theaters but but when.

Nobody's expecting -- when.

You know I've been seems so much Promos.

So many Promos on the air with people talking to the actors talking about -- for people who are not up on this -- I.

Personally just start watching Lord of the Rings.

And started getting into this -- so tell people what this movie's about why it's important.

And if -- she's go see it.

Well so I.

I have to mention Lord of the Rings which was epic story.

That Peter Jackson directed a few years back there -- three movies huge success.

The reading in the title The Lord of the Rings it's about the story to destroy this ring.

Bill the story of the hot it is the story about how throat of the hero lord of the race.

How his uncle bill -- found that -- And goes on this classes.

To help a group of -- get their treasure back from their homeland because we've taken over by a dragon.

Now this is based on tolkien's book the -- -- which came before Lord of the Rings.

And the book the -- but it is a little bit shorter than any of the individual entries in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

But it's -- padded out to three movies here.

And you kind of feel -- I have to be honest.

This movie economy -- a little bet I think it's gonna pay off.

When we get to the second and third films but you get a little bit of storyline that happens that's not really in the book -- -- kind of -- falcons later works.

You get these kind of distractions from the main story.

Ultimately I think it works but this is not a tight little movie it does meander a little bit.

But ultimately if you're a fan of the -- of the -- if you've been looking forward to this I think you're going to be really happy with that for the most part.

Is this a super long movie uses a -- wanna be aware of the belly buster big -- going into the maybe you know like a little over two hours -- and it's not as long as I mean certainly it's no cloud outlets -- almost three hours I.

That you know it is a little bit -- -- the critics are not as overwhelmingly positive towards this is they had been in the last Lord of the Rings released.

All of those scores were in the ninety's on our tomato meter this globally about 69% right now.

I -- the critics are not as wild about it and some of the reaction has spent about this new style this new format.

That it's been -- you may have heard people talk about this 48 frames a sector.

The frame rate this new style showing movies which is twice as fast.

As we see regular release it's twice the frame rate normally movies are projected -- 24 frames a second so it's super high definition but I have to warn viewers.

That it can be quite distracting if you're not used to it and I might recommend you might -- -- see this on a regular frame rate which will be marked on theaters.

To begin -- rather than jumping in into the 48 frames a second which.

Like I said to be a little bit distracted and actually weirdly looks like video from time to -- you get used to it eventually and once you get used to it really looks great.

But I found for the first hour and a half of the movie I kept covering one -- -- -- this looks really weird.

Do you feel like Carson or something when you're watching this now I don't feel -- you don't feel -- -- but the way -- the best way to describe it is the movement is so.

-- you see so much more movement than you're used to it almost looks.

About the way that an instant replay and it looks bad apple when you're watching you know high Def TV shot at a high Def camera.

Watching an instant replay at a football game.

You know it's not actually sped up or faster but it looks that way I will admit there were times this movie I kind of expected the Benny Hill music to start today.

You know which is not where you want to be in a movie like this now at the beginning it look like things were over crank but.

Once I got into it once again once my brain adjusted and I got used to -- I I didn't notice anymore.

The movie ends really strong and I got to tell -- when column shows up the technology makes dollop.

Look more present I am now convinced that that creature really exists somewhere that can't just be a special effect.

Hot that is a good to -- so you brought up the 48 frame a minute thing because I actually.

Not only hadn't heard of that I didn't know what that was so I think -- gave a Soledad nice and I guess that's only in -- the theaters.

And yet that's only a portion of theaters or you'll be able to tell which are forty frames you know there's actually six different ways of watching this movie could watch it.

In regular 44 frames and then 3-D -- an IMAX and IMAX 3-D as forty -- IMAX 3-D NN forty frame.

Regular three -- outlook and gets kind of confusing but you'll be able to tell if it's reported -- it'll be marked on theaters.
