We tried explain things that can't be explained.
And we we take stock and are in our in our faith and in our community our neighbors and our friends who have been just tremendous.
-- and show and little Alexis nicely there in front of -- that does Alexis wanna talk about it and if so.
What do you telling.
It's versatility as far as talking.
We have -- we're breaking -- are slowly where.
We're not trying to pry too much if she's forthcoming and telling us stuff.
We're allowing eight you know where -- were letting her.
It's become most -- We're not trying to to her.
-- -- you know what happened we don't want to do.
Robert your son Aden is in the first grade and I understand that the gunmen.
Burst into his classroom and was can slot -- and shot.
It is very brave teacher we'll talk about her and a minute Victoria sold out.
What did Dayton do after that.
We're finding how more more every day but -- Basically.
With the children witnessed.
The shooter come into the room shoes -- Continue firing the children.
Acted on instinct than what they were -- which was -- wrong.
And they did they just when.
Up to the main road a hundred yards away.
My son in the -- over those students.
Were extremely brave and what they did and and and acted with courage that I don't know that it my house and again they just ran and were were.
We're fortunate enough to it to be a woman who up.
Was it is another hero in the story and Doug took them to the police station and then and I understand them that they just ran.
I understand -- -- Not only ran out himself but waited for his friends to make sure they were -- but tell us about.
Victoria Saud -- because we understand it's coming out that this 27 year old first grade teacher.
Tried to persuade that the gunman not to shoot and and and put herself in front of the gunmen and lost her life trying to -- for children tell us about her.
You know I I'd -- school -- was relatively new light my wife you're a little bit better than I did.
But I did I did meet her on one occasion and my wife spoke very highly of -- She was a very caring compassionate.
Young woman and not only did she love her kids and they loved her in return she was.
Very special and will always remember.
And and Lennon show there were other remarkable acts of bravery none greater than the principal dawn -- strong.
And we understand that when she heard the gunfire she ran -- -- not away from that and apparently lunged at the shooter.
Trying to save the students ended up losing their own life.
Tell us about about -- John was.
I -- seen you heard just about every morning.
I'm Alexis is part of the before and after school program at the school and every day that I received on it was always.
The elephant -- infectious smile and she just.
It was just so caring and she got down into the children's level she participated -- and so many activities with the with the children and she dressed up when they had a sock -- last year and she actually went in and danced at -- children and they didn't this year they if they sold 3000 books dude dressed she dressed up -- -- book very.
And she just she just was such a wonderful wonderful warm person.
And and there -- there's no words to describe the loss that we have all as a community felt and not only her family.
-- he knows some of the families who lost children in this some of them were his classmates in that respect class -- victorious out out.
In this sense is that bittersweet that you would have Aden and you have here a year older daughter was also at the school Kalin and so many of your neighbors don't.
You -- it yet again it's a small community right so didn't -- that all of the children.
No those each other from preschool.
They go to church together they have play dates together.
So it is bittersweet might my wife waited for news of our -- for over an hour after we got the call and when he didn't come out.
We never thought that we would he was gone and but.
He could have very well in one of those -- -- affected and we we feel very blessed and it is bittersweet because we do.
While we feel blessed that we still have our son and and our daughter.
We we we.
Mourn for a for our.
Friends neighbors who weren't as fortunate and -- -- what rituals and Lin finally.
And I guess this is the hardest question how do you make sense of this.
There is a sentence there is absolutely no sense to this and it's.
I think I'm still very -- students to -- -- -- -- over the last US having our daughter with us here today.
But how many families and friends and everyone -- in the community didn't go home with their children.
Friday night and it's just very very heart wrenching and there is no there's no way to make any sense of anything with this person has done not only to have families but to community to -- -- -- And it's just it's -- -- -- -- -- -- just -- and who would have ever thought here in this little town of -- town of -- some odd thousand people and that's why people are here it's it.
It's a small community it's a wonderful community where people are they just come together and as we were coming through town there's a banner says we will we will be strong as a community we will remain strong.
And we will always be here for anyone -- -- one within our community and within our school.
Then and so and the Lexus and -- we want to thank you all so much for sharing your stories.
And just know that our prayers and the prayers of the nation -- -- view.
