Back here in New York -- -- turn our attention.
To this story this morning secretary of state Hillary Clinton is set to be at home recovering from a concussion today.
After a fall that she sustained.
When she fainted due to -- stomach virus the State Department announced all of this over the weekend.
We were awaiting the results of an independent review of the terror attack.
In Ben Ghazi the details of which everybody looks forward to learning and many had hoped would arrive before the election.
But now we're learning that mrs.
Clinton will not testify.
Before the house and senate panels on Thursday as was expected.
About that deadly September 11 assaults and here on that congressman Peter King.
To really find -- what happened we ultimately.
I believe Secretary Clinton will have to testify I've had great respect.
The Secretary Clinton and no one would know more about this and she would and no one will be in a position really to answer.
The tough questions of Secretary Clinton so -- when she's -- I believe it is important that you testified.
All right joining me now senator Johnny Isaacson a Republican from Georgia he is also a member of the foreign relations committee.
That would be hearing this testimony senator good morning good to have you with us today.
Good morning miles we had heard last week that secretary of state Clinton canceled a trip overseas because she wasn't feeling -- had a stomach virus.
But what it would make of the fact that that she will not testify do that illness and that in her place.
We will hear from senior State Department officials William burns and Thomas.
-- -- -- Well first of all we all wish the secretary well no she recovers soon concussions can be very very resolutely I understand that but eventually.
I think secretary of state should test undersecretary burns is very confident individual but this is a tragic loss of US ambassador the first loss of an ambassador since 97 and and obvious breakdowns in security we need to make sure we find the answers all the questions we make sure we draw the line so this never happens again.
Yeah we will the committee will hear we understand from.
Former ambassador Thomas Pickering.
I am also retired admiral Mike Mullen the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff but you know that the one -- in all of this that we really don't have -- Is the administration the White House in terms of the requests that we know came Ferrero from ambassador Chris Stevens for more security.
I in -- Ghazi.
You know what are the big holes in the story that you believe need to be filled in by somebody who would have would would be pretty all that information.
Where you just hit the heart of the story that is why the administration would put Susan Rice from the point of the spear.
On Sunday after the attacks -- information that at that time I don't think they really believe.
To be totally correct and now we know was incorrect at all so that's the most important reason the secretary should just and most important reason we owe the American people the facts and.
All the facts and that it you know I mean at of course we all understand.
You know an illness and and the need and -- time to recover for.
As a pretty -- -- -- -- Clinton and we hope that she you know does that an in -- quicken and complete way.
But -- it does seem hot -- you know given what you talked about in terms of Susan Rice the fact that Hillary Clinton wasn't available that Sunday either to come out and speak.
To everybody at at home in and around the country about what happened in Ben -- And now this other delay she's stepping down in January and now we're hearing that second that Senator Kerry.
Is likely to it to be -- next secretary of state so raises a question whether or not will ever.
And know what she knows about this situation.
I think the administration realizes we'll never have closure on the facts in this case without secretary's testimony.
I've never seen her shy away from a fighter from or for any questions and I'm sure she will when she's recovered.
I've seen you do expect that you will still hear her testimony in this -- have you been given any time frame as to when that might be.
I have not but I can tell you one thing -- reviewed enough for the documents the state department's give me I've seen enough of the security tapes -- film the night of the answer them.
I've seen enough of the history that led up to it.
We had a terrible failure of security protect the United States investors.
And we there were lacking information or didn't act on information we should've had either way we -- -- -- on this we need full testimony.
We had all the facts on the table when to ensure our diplomats around the world -- never ever again would put them in harm's way like us.
Well there are people who think that we should move on from this and there are those in your camp.
Who believe that these answers are very important senator we hope you get them thank you very much for being -- this morning.
Thank you Martha.
