-- Fox News alert out of Syria this morning where NBC is announcing that foreign correspondent Richard Engel and his production team are now free and -- hurt.

After getting captured their last Thursday it comes as opponents of president aside launch a new offensive near the capital Damascus.

We'll -- joins me now live in Jerusalem -- and an incredibly dramatic story about how they gain their freed up.

No question about these guys are being held for five -- moved from Statehouse to Statehouse.

By pro aside -- and that's when he's pro aside gunman who had.

The NBC crew in the back of a mini -- if you will were driving down the road got to a rebel checkpoint there was some type of firefight ensued and that's what Richard Engel.

And his crew escaped out of the van instead literally help us we're Americans we're journalists.

Please get -- to safety in the rebels who were involved in that firefight.

Did just that it was on a road very similar to that a few days earlier in that angle and his crew were taken at gun point by what they presumed to be.

Pro government pro president Assad forces Shiite militia members who were then holding and then during the time they are being held were told it was a very awful situation ignored -- executions a number of threats about what's going to happen of these men and -- Obviously this isn't the best way this story that ending clearly for others inside -- not a number of journalists killed inside Syria and also -- Americans still missing in that country.

Yeah everybody is very thankful that this developed.

And ended the way that it did Leland.

But it says a lot about what's changing on the ground in Syria because they believed.

That they were traveling and rebel held territory but obviously they -- not what what's the latest there.

Well this is an insurgency civil war not only do you have the army fighting you also have all these pro stock militias and then you have the rebels -- -- -- right now.

Is that the momentum is changed it used to be that government was hunting the rebels now the rebels were better arms and better trained are clicking the government -- still.

These rebels have not been able to control major cities they haven't yet taken a lot -- certainly has not yet taken to capital Damascus but.

It's things on the ground are -- we're getting more and more indications that people like -- seriously ally.

Are getting nervous the Russians have moved warships into the Mediterranean.

Conceivably have backed you wait Russian citizens from Syria if things continue to deteriorate and still there's this large question of chemical weapons out there.

-- -- uses chemical weapons and a last act of desperation.

Or will the rebels seized control of them and then you have a lot of chemical weapons floating around in the hands of people who clearly have very little commander in coral structures many of whom are Muslim extreme.

Monica too much chaos in Syria that a little bit of order for Richard Engel and his crew and we are thankful for that.

Leland thank you very much good stuff they're all right.
