This -- you -- -- see in the wake of extreme weather is extreme waste by our federal government but that's exactly seems like we're getting.

As you look inside the last hurricane.

Sandy relief bill it's only a fraction of the sixty billion dollar bill is dedicated to families actually hit.

I hurricane sandy the rest is going to government projects that have nothing to do with this latest storm how could that be.

-- how -- is in York City Council.

-- it's trying to explain this so.

So -- why is Alaska fisheries getting a 150 million.

US bases including getting all 41.

Well because we have a spending can happen and under the the budget agreements that were reached last year the government can't exceed that except in cases of emergency.

And this emergency spending bill is an end run around the usual debate process the usual budget process I mean we don't just have.

Fisheries on the table we have an Amtrak subsidy of 336.

Million dollars.

That represents you know a large portion of the one point four billion dollars in subsidies we forty give them.

And only about 23.

Million of that has anything to do with a hurricane there's been a real struggle from the get go and a lot of Republicans are saying let's slow this down there's no offsets for the spending.

And we always throw money at major catastrophes.

It -- -- a good job -- -- where that money's going well not only do we not know where this money's going I mean there's a lot of open ended discussions as fisheries which is one issue but.

All of this money in aggregate is about half the money that's been requested by the states for direct -- so in other words we've asked new York New Jersey alone.

About eighty billion dollars in total relief packages to deal with on the ground problems.

This package of sixty billion dollars isn't really sixty billion is about forty billion of direct aid at about twenty billion.

Of fluff OK so.

Senators in Alaska would say.

After the tsunami hit -- -- damage to our fisheries there we didn't get enough money to help us so now it's our -- so that's why they're trying to attack on.

Their expenses to you is that just the way politics works or is that what frustrates so many Americans right that's why Americans have a spending problem in general that's why the tax burden keeps going up and that's why we don't have a government that's as responsive as it should be.

I have no doubt -- -- -- were injured during the tsunami aftermath and we know this cleanup issues there let -- -- fight for that exactly this should not be lumped in with -- specific package of emergency -- not regular -- emergency relief for this disaster and we're now only getting about half of what we -- ask for for new York New Jersey for the entire.

Project's main area in which you need funding is a look there's rehabilitation of the coastline.

I mean clearly we have homes.

Properties businesses board walks public spaces from down in the Del Mar all the way up.

And and all of -- he needs serious repair but look at breezy point.

Absolute devastation you're talking about a hundred homes burned to the ground not a bit of them left.

Those are places that need eight.

No offense.

The fish Alaska not my priority when I've got people out of homes.

In my district Iranians in the other districts and in the city -- -- -- and you -- wonder -- two million is going to Smithsonian Institution -- a great institution but absolutely it's part of that was that emergency spending it's not to get this comes back to our problem with with dealing with problems in -- -- in -- right we have.

Have to look at our budget is a big picture yeah.

We're gonna do it that I did howry and in the middle of the storm fighting to get back -- -- -- thanks so much appreciated by great since he -- straight out and a.
