Taylor back to find out if we got anything wrong so far that we go to Tom -- -- -- Tom hi Andy -- Could get Diane Todd -- yes you are -- and I don't know it.

Details and -- Until I got that right -- -- -- OK.

The amount mental health discussion at the beginning let's go to Jim Jim Norton you said you don't care to ask.

And you kind of you give little voice is included a killer -- liking you this is what you've been hearing all the time -- Well why did the killing you you're sick of hearing people say why did the killer -- yeah -- If the answer that leads to.

Some kind of intervention.

Could that you you know could that be valuable.

Sure but it tends to lead to more media coverage it -- stage three.

Of them prostituting his story is this state interest -- why why did the -- killer and they given the Monica why did the Joker kill and I never concerned.

With the motives of a sociopath.

Because it's never gonna make sense.

Odd that not so crazy they don't know what they're doing because he planned it and he shot himself when the cops are coming.

So he knew the consequences.

-- you're never gonna find an answer which which makes it all seem less random.

And thereby less frightening so I'm not interest -- all -- that's a that's a good example because it was this.

Wasn't it the movie theater shooter who was dressed up.

I mean he was dressed up like a super -- not yet.

And what well I think we're Gabby Giffords the go shatter if you're ever -- be as a shooting where we go all okay well least there's a reason I think hopper had never we're never gonna find one that makes sense.

-- -- diet you said it's the job of a sudden this is you know you respond to Jimmy said but this is the job of psychologist to figure out what makes these people tick.

The question is.

If we if if we do find.

A way to isolate these people.

Isn't the issue really less about psychology and more about the with the willingness to.

To force these people into treatment which we don't seem to be only able to -- well it.

-- fixes and minor and then you have to deal with their parents and you have to try to work with and I think the idea -- to figure out.

If these people are dangerous before they become dangerous and to monitor and like I said if they're on medications that are under treatment and to make sure that.

If these are young people who are living with parents or or how close relatives.

That -- someone involved in the situation was aware of the severity of it and monitoring it because a lot of this goes on monitored.

And then all of a sudden it's too late and we look at the new stories and we see.

Overall these warning signs why didn't anyone do anything about it well maybe not enough people -- -- were responsible.

Knew what was going on.

I've got a question for you just because I know you were eight.

You were a teacher and I writes I was a teacher a dean an advisory out OK see you were -- all -- -- would you be one of these by -- talk about.

Army principles I mean do you know many people in administration who are willing to walk around armed it doesn't seem like that that's the culture.

That kind of accept this kind of character.

It depends where it is I mean in certain in Texas may -- in New York City probably not I mean I I'm a little bit concerned about that just because I know what difficult.

Schools look like where there are are very tough kids I know there's a lot of tension classrooms all the time.

I would be a little bit worried about.

You know it teacher always being aware where his or her weapon was no student doing something they shouldn't do to try to snatch it.

All of that worries me but I do support security at schools and if you had a train professional.

Who was visible to the public outside you know in out and it was known as a ground that was protected by someone who was -- I think that could make a world of difference.

Well certainly people -- come from within in other countries when I travel sometimes -- guys with machine guns outside of hotels.

Yeah and guess what the people in the hotel well protected no one's own and -- about it.

Well yeah -- that was the time felt safe was in my hotel.

How much time I hate to tell you had indeed job here tonight I think we'll have more bearing the -- -- how come no teacher we ever have looked like that.

I'm not a lot -- mail did you that -- address once -- If you had to die yeah that is it.

Dublin putter in the front office yeah yeah exactly yeah all the males were clearly again.

I did a lot of -- -- -- and -- -- and that's their -- you brought up a good example.

When you said.

We don't broadcast terrorist demands we're talking about the media exactly.

We don't read you know the ransom -- -- glorifies.

The terrorists or the criminals -- you know a hostage takers whatever.

There was another good example.

I think it was bill who said rape cases they don't mention the name of the the victim.

Did the media is constantly -- senate censoring themselves but for some reason they think in terms of in these cases of violence these shootings that they can't censor themselves but they do it all the time you -- example of the rate.

Victim.

My example when minor kills their -- something I thirteen year old -- put his name on the news.

Jim -- Norton you gave me a good example in the green -- you it was a perfect example when some fan runs out onto the field.

This these sports.

Coverage they don't follow him on the field.

They put your camera somewhere after that because I was feeling left out I wanted to -- And after -- that I did it well actually I mean it seems like a frivolous example but it's a perfect example.

In many cases all kinds of media sensors themselves why not Andy.

In in a case like this.

Well because I'm I'm not I'm still not sure what exactly what you want no coverage of this event because we covered terrorists actually cover -- -- -- -- -- and that real about it I'm asking I mean look look at what we've seen since Friday it's been wall to wall coverage an hour after hour after hour and I think it's that excessive coverage.

That could have an effect on other emotionally disturbed people yeah say you've been seeing this is what you can get four days of being the Senator -- -- of the entire United States that's -- -- -- -- get laryngitis -- if you stop.

Coverage in the first four days then you're gonna get yelled at from people saying why are you covering acts while this is -- still don't while this is going on.

Well I think maybe if we if if there was the principle throughout the media that people understood because we understand when we hear that there was a rape victim and they don't announce her name we all understand why because -- we're all familiar with this practice.

I can remember.

Dealing clean -- I remember still remember this guy's name why don't I remembered Dylan Klebold name -- remember that did that and that is.

Being a particularly excessive and we may be approaching it in in this case but I don't but also talk -- so what are you.

How do you define the media is the media Fox News and other news networks -- Because he's the -- not Twitter is the media not the Internet because you're -- to still get coverage all over the place so.

You're saying news network's news organizations should not cover this but.

It's it's still going to be covered his name is going to be out there are so it's going to be circulating all over the -- played -- -- It's never gonna cause I I think you know I guess me personally I'm opposed to looking at this guy's face.

You know projected on the big screen and seeing his name is -- as you mentioned Twitter because if you looking at the Twitter hash tags.

The kind of things that are trending on Twitter I haven't seen this guy's name trending on Twitter what I see is.

I you know I remember new town and -- sandy hook things like that so it's kind of interesting.

Maybe -- could ask one other question of get a -- this is kind of from my own purposes.

The people if we're giving all sorts of advice about how to talk to your children about this.

And I was hoping that my kids weren't talking about this in school I didn't bring it up of them over the weekend I don't know if sitting down and talking to little kids but this I just turn the news off.

Do you think they should be talking about it -- -- first or second grade classroom.

Well yeah I don't know in the first -- second grade classroom but the problem is that kids will ask questions that TVs are on in households all day long and kids are coming home from school they're doing their homework at the kitchen table and mom or dad is that they are watching this.

So they're gonna ask questions that you have to be prepared to do know -- bit.

And if -- become frightened -- sometimes kids become more frightened.

You don't give them real answers.

They're very receptive to that -- -- very receptive to truth so I think you have to address if your kids have questions I wouldn't go out of my way to bring it up if your kids have been somewhat untouched by this.

But if they do have questions that you should be prepared to have some answers.

All right well we spent a lot of time talking about the shooting I guess we can go to just the last story.

I just looked at the this is on the the ESPN analysts.

I looked at the I never heard this term corn ball brother did you any.

Has anyone heard this torture before corn ball rather diverted before this story yet -- I never did what I -- -- you're not you're not out on the streets like I -- time yeah I guess not I'm not.

You know anywhere those gloves and at the top of the fingers -- yeah.

And well listen I used to to -- the term -- my brother but only to refer to my corn ball brother right.

Yeah OK.

Yeah.

We haven't barbershop we needed a whole different way I think -- you know well let me just read you the the definition online -- the urban dictionary -- brother an African American male who chooses not to follow the stereotype this includes.

But not limited to being educated well spoken a leaders selfless well spoken again and humble.

How politically incorrect is that definite.

Well actually when I when I first -- -- -- my first thought was so OK art RG three is a court won't run -- but I guess Chris Brown is a real brother is that he's out of what Parker is trying to say.

I guess so and and and ambassador Bolton he said you -- on to.

You said quote if you pigeon hole someone as the black guy or the woman you're going down the wrong path.

But on this panel I'm definitely comfortable pigeon holing get a -- as the woman's that would be a -- yeah.

Insults account that.

Back to you -- -- thanks a lot Tom Kelly.
