After the school shooting in new ten.

Milwaukee and in my house from a walk upstairs.

From Milwaukee to two -- groups.

Guy.

With a five year old and a four year old -- in the -- crew.

With a bunch of Teddy bears -- in -- room mama give them the biggest hug in the biggest kiss I've ever given.

And there's twenty families in new -- Connecticut.

They're walking into a pink room with a bunch of Teddy bears with nobody Blaine and those -- In its tragic.

Pat -- joins us right now coach your words and your -- said then.

After lost -- state is captured America.

You've really gotten that caught America by storm people talking about you where those words come from.

Did you know you gonna say that we walked in.

I didn't you know it was an unbelievably emotional several days like it was for the entire country I first found out about it on a bus on the way up -- Athens Ohio before we played Ohio U.

Well before the Ohio State game.

And like the entire country couldn't get out of my head for three days it's all I thought about and I I you know can relate because I hail of two little ones that need to have a five year old and a four year old.

And several hours prior to that bus ride on Friday morning before I found out about the shooting I had breakfast with my two little girls.

And my wife put pancakes in front of them and we laid to Hershey kisses out smiley face information on those pancakes and my little girls -- me pictures that I could take with me on my road trip and we crossed off the calendar to Christmas Eve like we do every single day.

And I gave him a kiss goodbye and there were similar breakfast that were taken place up in Connecticut with the with the families of those little ones that lost their life.

In the next time that those family saw their little ones when they were identifying their bodies and that shook me to my core when I found out about it and and it's all I thought about for several days and what what kind of when I walked in that press conference after the Ohio State game a hard fought game that we played really well.

And there were tons of cameras and media types in this press conference and I've never been in a room like that I mean were at Winthrop.

The press conferences that I've been as one Cameron one reporter but walking into -- you know after we played the vaunted Ohio State Buckeyes.

All they wanted to talk about was how we defended Aaron craft and DeShaun Thomas and held them to 65 points and it in in you know I answered those questions because that's my job.

But when they asked me at the end if I had everything anything else I said you know what I do have something else -- for some reason I felt there was some divine intervention that it was it was up to me at that point because I had that microphone and I had that platform.

To say something and I felt like I was speaking on behalf of the American public I've had hundreds of emails tell -- coached.

Yes -- you you have you could have reputation only -- cared about their team in their sport tunnel vision you blew that stereotype out of the water -- that you talked about our country.

Listen.

I didn't vote for President Obama okay but you know what he's my president now he's my leader I need him to step up.

OKMR Boehner the speaker of the house he's -- Xavier guy he's a Cincinnati guy.

-- he needs to step up and I know this microphones powerful right now because we're playing the fourth.

Best team in the country I'm not gonna have a microphone like this the rest of the year may be the rest of my life.

And I'm gonna be an agent of change with a thirteen young men that I get the coach every day in the two little girls that I get to race.

-- Would you want to who would you want to hear from the present you talked about from the top down are you -- the right stuff.

I you know I think so.

I just think this is -- -- a watershed event and you know the the 9/11.

Pearl Harbor hopefully.

This moment which was one of the most tragic massacres in the history of our country.

Is a turning point in it's a wake up call for all of us it wasn't just a call of action for President Obama and speaker Boehner for everybody.

I made the point that.

I haven't been that politically active it's my civic duty to to sort of peel away the onion and start figured out these things because I wanna leave.

A society to my little girls that were proud we we we.

Think we're in the greatest country in the history of civilization and yes and you doing that and now we've got to have you back as -- we've got to give you more time to talk about this.

My only regret is that I played soccer not basketball and -- use a bowl eligibility because I'd like to go to Winthrop now.

Thanks so much for joining us this morning best to -- the rest of the way.

Hey thanks for having me.
