I don't doubt that were only those two names on the list Senator Kerry of Massachusetts in UN ambassador Susan Rice and she and re remove her name after it became clear there was going to be an incredible fight.
Over the nomination because of the statements she made.
After the tragedy in Ben Ghazi the cost the lives of ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans now John Kerry a long time member of the senate to have the foreign relations committee.
Will have no problem winning the confirmation of that body.
That will preclude a fight -- and that was a fight the president really didn't want to have this early -- in though what will be his second term so we expect a nomination to come later today whether or not the president announces it himself we have yet.
To hear back to you when a caller thank you let's talk about all this with Chris Wallace he is of course the anchor of FOX News Sunday.
Maybe -- believe the worst kept secret in Washington everybody expected it was going to be John Kerry or what does he bring to this post Chris.
Well I certainly brings experience he's been a member of the senate for a long time -- is the chairman as Wendell -- the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Seems to have a good working relationship with President Obama and his national security team.
In fact Obama has used them several times it's a personal envoy to deal particularly with problems.
In Pakistan and Afghanistan it got to a point where Hamid Karzai the president -- about Afghanistan with preferred to deal.
-- John Kerry the personal envoy the president rather than the US ambassador there.
And of course is that his latest role had been that he played.
Mitt Romney in a preparations for the presidential debates.
Some people said that the president did like the fact that he he -- was a little long -- did.
-- during those debate perhaps but obviously after the -- one.
President did pretty well -- obviously did pretty well playing Romney and he's gonna get the job which he has clearly hunger for for some -- of time.
There doesn't appear to be much in the way of Republican opposition I mean senators McCain and senators like McCain who.
How I had expressed some reservations.
Susan Rice has had good things about their fellow senator.
I -- -- -- -- there is a senate club.
He's say -- member in good standing of the -- -- club well respected and generally speaking.
Unless there is some you know huge piece of information out there and -- certainly no reason to think about.
Some controversial stand with John Kerry -- I would think his nomination will -- For a very often not a president might pick a senator from a safe state where.
He can expect that senator will be replaced by a by you know staunch Democrat or you know whichever party that the person comes from.
What's going to be the situation what's the what's food -- does the governor chooses a replacement in Massachusetts.
He does until this special election which I assume would be.
Well I'm trying to think -- whether it be in 2014 or whether they'll have a special election.
In Massachusetts the laws are different in different states and -- -- thing that's so interesting about it is Scott Brown.
Who of course won the special election to replace Teddy Kennedy when he died.
And then was just defeated by Elizabeth Warren during the regular election in November.
Would be one of the favorites and that to run now in the special election for the -- -- not the Kennedy's -- that the Kerry's seat.
And apparently the White House did some due diligence talked -- Massachusetts Democrats.
And was told that there were a number of Democrats that it wouldn't be just the walk over for brown -- -- -- he probably goes into as the favorite.
And back -- saw -- poll yesterday were against a generic unnamed Democrat.
He had a fairly sizable lead but.
You know that that the -- Democrats -- have.
Firm control of the senate even if they were to lose that one state they would still maintain control.
And it doesn't either it doesn't jeopardized because they weren't close to having.
A filibuster proof majority.
So I think they think they are competitive and Massachusetts and if they lose -- it's not the end of the world John Kerry was the logical choice I mean Susan Rice and he -- the only two names mentioned.
And after the bank Ghazi scandal and and and controversy.
Just became too great and and rice had to pull herself out.
That it really -- -- as the lone person for -- city.
And there are still some questions about Ben -- swirling around secretary of state Clinton how much longer is she in the job and will she testify.
To congress before she leaves that -- you know well those are good questions is another good question.
I would assume a Wendell said he didn't know for sure but I would assume the president would come out -- -- -- usually the way it is for a particularly for the senior job in his cabinet.
And announce it today generally speaking traditionally.
When the president is announcing he's somebody to replace and earlier prison in that place.
That person is there to the incumbent.
Secretary of state now that it gets a little delicate for Hillary Clinton.
Because of course he did not testify yesterday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee because she was suffering the effects of the -- the stomach virus.
And the concussion she suffered.
It would be a little funny if she were to appear today at this event and that is -- obvious thing to see what happens and it'll be interesting to see what you've got on FOX News Sunday Chris.
