Welcome back after spending four months in a Mexican jail happy ending for a marine veteran John hammer.

Overnight hammer crossing the Mexican border into Texas after a judge ruled to release him from prison earlier in the day.

Hammer was being held on charges that he possessed illegal antique gun and carried it across the border.

Absolutely and you know it's -- important to point out to them to the of viewers that John had actually tried to register the firearm.

He wasn't sneaking it in he asked a US custom Border Patrol and Brownsville before -- entered Mexico can I take this and they registered it they fill out all the papers they gave them all the paperwork.

He went right into the border and went to a police station to register the firearm.

And for his troubles he got -- that since August he has been in this Mexican jail.

And that thank goodness with a lot of bipartisan support in congress and the prayers of of our community and nation -- Hard work and prayers that paid off -- and John is safely now -- in the United States and there.

-- -- out mellowing him out that's been a very hot harrowing experience.

He suffered from post traumatic stress in damage as you know served in Iraq served in Afghanistan.

Went to clinic for -- BP S the was getting better was gonna go on the surfing trip for for therapy.

And that and for all his troubles he ends up but being shackled to.

To his bed and a Mexican jail and you know he did not get out until a little bit after 9 PM.

Last night it was at an incredible ordeal.

They told his parents salt -- weight that you need to sign here -- you forgot this -- this page at all of the clerk doesn't come in until half an hour so the parents were told.

At a quarter to 3 in the morning on Friday.

That he was gonna be released he wasn't released until 9 PM tomorrow night we'll all that people -- and now we know he's driving 22 hours across the country right now is -- get back to mom and he's spoken to his -- The -- plus she's very relieved and they they want to to chill out there wanna say.

Thank you to the press and thank you to especially to fox and thank you to let everyone know around the country who well who prayed and worked hard.

Especially all the Marines came together.

To help them out but -- like a little time now away from that of the cameras when John is better that like to make a public appearance at thanked the community.

But they want this to be the the best that Christmas ever they are strong -- Christian family.

And they say that this Christmas celebrating the birth of of their savior Jesus Christ is going to be the most meaningful Christmas they've ever had -- not very happy for them.

And everybody helped look it wasn't just me.

That may have been leading the charge that senator Bill Nelson that everybody everybody was health and I think.

That's one Bill O'Reilly and the -- Bill O'Reilly really championed this cause what's the lesson what's the take away from all this to you congressman.

Well be careful that first of all there's no place like this country that has so many guarantees of of freedom and rights when he go to a foreign country got to be very careful and here was John you know at a train guy.

He wanted to do the right thing he was registering his firearm.

And and -- gets it busted in and in jail.

And what what I tell people when they go to another -- you have to be very very very careful.

You know when you do on the right thing you can end up getting in trouble but -- and -- it's a great feel good story and I am just very -- happy.

For this wonderful family they live -- my district so the constituent services is what I love to do.
