The -- grinch that stole Christmas some mcdonalds workers are in the fast food chain on there not analyst for pushing franchisees opened their doors on Christmas Day.

So is Mickey -- -- it up here are given a big Christmas gift to workers are actually need the money.

Well everybody I'm shocked at Sony and -- the cash and I -- -- this week we've got -- writers Jonathan Hoenig Tracy Byrnes to have a field.

Also joining us this week -- was -- -- out all of you went into the start with you that I feel like mcdonalds just to.

Eat there but you think have there been a scourge argument that is actually a gift to their workers.

It's a gift to me -- trade is productive doesn't matter whether it's on Christmas or -- -- -- or Ramadan or arbor day for that matter.

And McDonald's is not service business like.

Denny's like Starbucks like a lot of other service businesses they got to be you know open when people want to get served and that is and it includes Christmas.

Day oftentimes his company's -- -- keep in mind.

Incentivized employees they might offer time time and a half a little bit extra for waking up and coming in on Christmas but.

I think it's perfectly within the purview of any company not just ask employees work at Christmas but require.

That's certainly true that you do get the extra -- -- a -- but at the same time McDonald's was founded in principle on giving its workers Thanksgiving and Christmas Day off to -- with their families now they're changing that is that right.

Yeah I think if their prerogative advocates -- workers brought an end to don't work somewhere else now some album may not have that option because there aren't as many jobs.

In the economy but that's another reason.

If you have a job -- that you should be very thankful.

Look at our congress may be taken guard Christmas all of -- are obviously doing a spot this fiscal cliff mass.

But these companies that are having a hard time.

And McDonald's for the first -- -- earnings that were down for some over ten years.

Down horrible quarter -- Obama Christmas to me is something that and they probably should do and they should they should be allowed to acquire other workers to be there.

In the numbers are kind of -- Malia I mean McDonald's Lima dolls that open on Thanksgiving Day actually booked record profits in about 6000 dollars they would just a lot of revenue.

For McDonald's.

Franchise so do you think that that means that they should be opening on Christmas Day bring in more revenue back for the company.

Yeah I mean I think it's better for the company but I also agree with what's being said that time and a half.

You know getting an extra -- as much as we'd like every Wentz is you know be able to enjoy the holiday season.

I think that a lot of the workers that I know.

Are excited to be getting the extra hours on and don't really mind gate gate giving up holiday and also hopefully we see -- as something short term but.

You know where where moving away from.

Being a traditional Christian in -- mom you know Christmas type of holiday think there's a lot of people who don't celebrate Christmas who would love to work as well.

But Wayne is it isn't fair I guess that I know would have this discussion about the Black -- issue a lot of those stars were staying open.

Lot of Wal-Mart workers were protesting that.

I mean do you think that it scared of his workers who may you know want that holiday off they're being asked to comment I mean there's the other side of this to this family time.

Well I don't think it's a question of fair or unfair if if everybody is worried about it let the workers themselves decide I mean wearing -- where not a totalitarian government when we say everybody asks why -- -- massive you know -- if I had.

That's crazy.

Let the work does decide they're the people who giving up their Christmas they are the people giving up their family that that day.

It's a traditional -- some to have this may be even better that they don't work on that day even better for them without them knowing it.

That day is that it is a day set aside for a for a family it's a -- set aside for a for a special occasion and we should observe it.

Are part of the same time Tracy you know -- that a lot of restaurants do this Starbucks is open and I appreciate that.

Danny stays open Jack in the Box maybe -- -- -- does get a lot with everybody else.

I agree it is capitalism and it's -- And I don't think it should people should come down on the workers though either because look first of all this notion that we're getting away from.

Christian society -- part of our problems and maybe we should check everything on Christmas and people should be home.

I understand -- is that reality works at the same time we can't be flippant with these workers either.

Hey if you don't like it go get another job it's not that easy.

And there's a lot of other really really reliant on that paycheck and they're going to be worried now that they don't come in Christmas Day.

-- they say hand needed off I might lose my job so it is also unfair to a lot of people I don't I can't let capitalism.

But I think they have a little motion with this as well let's bare -- in the coming over three hours I mean you're not -- hours five hours.

Yeah I mean it's not a it's not an.

And at all or not you're not saying that you can't spend only got out -- don't we don't know what they decided right they can be fully hour -- it could be ten hours as we have no idea.

My point if I think it is unfair to be flippant to say hey you don't like to go get another job it's not that easy up there.

Well you know at the same time -- Malia I will say that you know it in this state -- with unemployment still stubbornly high.

Many workers probably would be grateful for the hours but you know we don't have -- every grand prize is going to be.

Gonna be fully staffed than -- -- opened one you know -- not -- in the kids -- don't and we also don't.

Know how managers are going to ask what's employees would like to cover the shifts and I think that.

That's also really important that the franchises are respectful.

I don't think that everything is an either or you know I I think that hopefully a majority of franchises will be respectful for their workers and there's probably a lot of workers.

They don't mind working on Christmas and to get that time in -- happen and I'm sure I'm as was said before.

You know this isn't some type of total total -- in society I mean I think that at the end of the day hopefully managers will.

How did -- volunteer at first and that there are people who want to work on Christmas and they can work adopt.

-- -- -- I mean why not -- and I made the point earlier but in a pre Thanksgiving this year and I had an -- that's just a thousand franchises and -- the did open on Thanksgiving.

And him and they made money they made money in the employees -- money and it -- when I was in high school I worked it's at Starbucks are on now I Christmas I enjoyed making couple extra but my god -- -- -- on New Year's morning.

I'm FOX & Friends at 5 AM -- the next bit of it.

-- a job is but firm Robert.

Six Christians out there this is the holly -- possible day of the year so I feel you don't eat -- you don't think it.

That's what's so -- saying.

Maybe you're a big blur giving some what's hot and what -- the -- -- you coming you lose your job like well like.

The -- -- -- I think -- -- yeah I'm quite a pencil around your neck that kinda.

30 not a it's just aspect I can't about you know the gifts in the presence in the -- Is about the -- what I fall backwards 8% want -- -- some people corner I don't I religious malaria.

That's not what what what I was gonna say if I -- I mean as you know I that the last time I was less than not to work in the in the service industry was quite a while ago but.

Our managers were not slave masters right I mean they.

They want it's -- work with their employees because happy employees -- -- the environment but workplace so I don't think that managers are gonna look for you know that the most practicing Catholics and Christians and asked them to work double.

I think that there's probably a lot of young people who look forward to president.

And look forward to making time and a half I'm sure there.

A lot of people work at McDonald who on.

Who aren't heavy practicing Catholics and Christians I mean he did this isn't just.

He you know we tried I didn't I don't think it's gonna be -- extreme Anderson -- as a manager looking for the Catholics to force them to work.

You know but also -- -- I gonna have to go back CU you know this kind of this change in the culture that we're seeing with all of these.

Companies -- now restaurants wanting to open on what really our national.

Holidays to -- point.

Well I I don't think it's I don't think it's either necessarily a religious question or an economic question.

It's a question that is it you just pointed out if the workers decide then it's not me a jump down their throat if they take a vote if this fifteen people working in the air and twelve bombs that we don't wanna do this on Christmas Day we went might not to comment that the -- closes it's as simple as that hasn't been any fire -- about -- what everybody made it.

Otherwise you're just shoving -- otherwise you're when you're gonna have some thought about fascist government web measures are you've got to work how Caylee I cannot -- -- to pay you anyway.

That's not my thing while John Layfield and you wanna -- -- last word do you think that and the end of the day that we really are changing our culture about about the holidays were leaving them behind.

No -- safeguard -- holds about letting we're listening to reminding people why away when I actually got to work on Christmas I'm sorry but.

I've worked on Christmas almost every day the last forty years I've been an entertainment but what -- -- It was always -- our biggest show was on Christmas -- people had nothing else to do we look forward to a good Christmas -- our families that morning.

These guys are not working sixteen hours on Christmas for working eight -- -- for the most part.

Eagle range Christmas around it just as you do with a split -- we go to visit here at all one day you build your own -- the next.

-- -- -- that would her killer job.

That's right that was your choice that's what it's your choice it's different -- well well certainly we made a good choice that was to do this show on this holiday weekend that --
