He fought for our country is -- US marine and now one father a former staff sergeant Jordan Pritchard.

Has taken it upon himself to voluntarily standing guard.

Outside his children's elementary school former US marine staff sergeant Jordan -- -- us now good morning.

Good morning why are you doing this.

Now what choice -- I have.

Well I mean my kids were afraid.

Let's talk about that you you have a second grade her.

Who's seven and a first grader who's six so.

Of course there are afraid -- in this is exactly the same age as the kids who tragically lost their lives in new town.

But you know not every parent is going to stand guard.

In front of their kids' school so what made you want to pull down -- your old marine uniform and go do it.

Well it.

To me and my kids that uniform represents protection they they know that when I put on the uniform I stand for something and that I'm gonna keep them safe and so.

It was only uniform that I had.

I had to Wear that uniform just let them know and and to be you be there with them are you -- to.

No ma'am I was not -- -- really want to get arrested for carrying -- a weapon on the school property.

Yeah and -- tense but I'm and I guess the point is just the image.

A view standing and greeting kids in -- school.

In that uniform.

Sends a message of protection what had parents and other kids -- you about the.

Now they have they think you.

Over and over and over they they drew cards for me.

In the -- it said they felt safe I don't know if you can -- we're not but there's stockings right it says mom dad and sergeant Pritchard and this came from little girl who.

Who wrote in here that she felt it extremely safe with me standing out there.

-- I can't describe the feeling honestly that's really touch thing.

So but but listen Sargent I mean you you volunteer.

You're not paid to do this how long can you keep this up.

We'll see.

What we'll see it's it's a good Christmas season.

Hopefully the new year brings us -- employment opportunities.

And I would -- -- -- I'll do it is as long design that.

Physically and.

And financially can't see you plan to go every single morning.

To your children's elementary school and stand there wall they arrive.

And you don't use all -- right.

-- all -- you stand all day.

For eight hours while they're in school.

-- -- Own -- -- my kids.

What choice do I have.

It's either I sit back in a way don't something else to happen or someone else to protect them or I get up and -- something -- -- protect my kids.

Sergeant that's incredible now I understand there was some controversy about you wearing.

The uniform you are retired where does that stand.

Well technically I'm not retired.

My contract ended after eight years and in -- just it is -- -- that the service EA yes and so like EA -- Given that you you can't Wear -- uniform after you EA yes there's there's specific guidelines will win and where you can Wear uniform.

After getting out of the Marine Corps.

OK so where does -- stand now will you be able to -- and on the first -- -- January Wear your uniform.

Com I have made -- decision to not Wear my uniform.

I respect the Marine Corps it's at its rules and regulation that's just what the -- -- -- -- I can't I can't disrespect the leadership I respect them too much that the uniform came in -- -- with.

A wore it when it was needed.

I understand it's not needed now on -- made the point the does that make sense sort of -- you plan to show up again the first week in January and you will still stand vigil but you won't be able to Wear the uniform.

No I won't Wear the uniform and I'm sure we can come up with a with a different.

You know school uniform or something like that just to let the kids know they they know -- -- they know what -- represented what I stand for.

Honor courage income images you know just because the got a record doesn't mean I'm I'm not a marine anymore.

So they they know I'm out there than Tom Watson over.

That sounds like it -- turn pressured US even talking about our former.

Marine Corps staff sergeant and we will be watching you two to see how this all unfolds best of luck here in the new year.

Well thank you -- very much an -- Christmas tell you guys that they too thanks so much.
