Bringing in the new year may mean.

Digging even deeper in your wallet sad but true consumers can expect certain items to cost more this coming year senior consumer reporter for MarketWatch kilogram joins us now to break it all down for us Kelly nice to see this morning.

OK so let's dive into this is is not going to be pleasant but these are some hard realities were facing let's start off with cars.

Cars is a big one we we see costs go up every year but particularly.

Experts elsewhere to start to see an upswing starting next here just because of some of these these new laws requiring cars to be more fuel efficient they're just.

They need to be able to make some upgrades to the car itself in terms of the engine it's when and if the car heavier -- need to be some more technological upgrades in order to keep prices down were not quite -- yet.

Groceries and grain of course a lot of folks going to the grocery store gonna notice these things in what what particular products though.

Well we've talked about the milk cliff that's certainly something that's a risk this year I'm just because of the fiscal cliff.

And -- seen milk prices more than -- but just because of the drought this year we're seeing -- -- for a lot of things go up obviously greens being a big one but then you think about all the animals that eat greens and then that makes nick prices go up -- and then that trickles down into all -- of process and some meat poultry and all of that health care premiums are set to go -- of course this is something we see again almost every year on some of the experts that we've talked -- said they're seeing.

Potentially smaller increases but that's.

Sort of settling out but still about 6% next year.

In the text field we're gonna see some things going up as well high end televisions Home Theater Systems and computers set to go up as well if there's always something -- that's coming out -- starting to see the rollout of ultra high Def TVs and these -- something that -- in the neighborhood of 20000 dollars right now so I think -- -- television -- exactly and I'm still out of the market for most consumers but we're seeing a lot of those very high -- options that are popping up in TV entertainment systems even computers and we thought this prices were going down next step -- Smartphones and iPhone 5 accessories those prices going -- for Smartphones Smartphone we're starting to see a lot of the carriers are getting rid of their subsidies we saw this with Verizon -- iPhone earlier this year they gave consumers the option to pay full price and keep their unlimited data plan.

T-Mobile has said that they are getting rid of subsidies next -- -- painful price for the phone.

They say it's -- -- be a little less for the plan but I think that really it remains to be seen for consumers you really want to -- them beat you said accessories well so when.

We have you know if you got a new iPhone -- -- got an iPad mini for Christmas you know there's a new lightning connector on the bottom.

So price for those accessories as well what I can change after buying new ones I mean I -- -- the sort of person who got into the new iPhone every year you -- you know that you could hang on to civil court you -- have some extras but now I should start upgrade.

You have to buy all of these new accessories yet again yet 29 dollars for one of those little -- All right next up on here we have the daily deals like Groupon now this is gonna crush my cohost Dave who he's addicted to group -- And shipping cost -- -- showing up at his -- all the time and and his wife says up probably another daddy Groupon deal shown up here he's going to be hit by this.

Definitely -- -- I -- a big fan of these daily deal sites when they first started out but we've seen in recent years at the deals are just not as good and there are a lot of strings that are attached on them they're not as valuable.

And we're starting to see them focus more on those physical goods been on.

The experiences that you might be able to get like a spot treatments good restaurant meals out.

And then on the shipping side we're seeing that shipping costs are set to rise next year we've got about 5% price hike from UPS and FedEx in the works.

Post offices of course raising prices again in 2013.

The offset of that may be that we see more free shipping deals for consumers and although the minimums -- to -- with that as prices go up -- have to look for the fine print on that to -- -- -- we're paying more for the a lot of fine print that we are for the free shipping.

College tuition.

This is one that we've seen you know definitely some fiscal cliff -- here to but really we've just seen that federal aid -- and grant money has no.

Been able to outpace all of the increases in tuition.

And then a lot of these tax breaks that the sabres might see are starting to disappear -- shift and -- Only copper I mean we've been hearing stories in the recession people going into.

Newly built homes or that homes that are completed yet and stealing copper piping to sell.

What's going on with copper -- now they might have an investment vehicle for -- -- where to -- to -- the SEC is approved.

The first ETF between -- trade and copper and there's another one that's.

Potentially in the works for that as well and they said that they -- this is going to really track copper prices and not drive them but the expectation is that we could see an increase.

A particularly.

In.

You know any anything that that -- -- copper a lot of consumer products that do be -- weighing -- making lots of things along those lines so we could see some cost increases there.

And ETFs are great investments so this could do what you just talking about adjusting for.

-- we appreciate you joining us this morning I don't know you crushed my cohost bill.

There were bought with his Groupon saw treatments and don't agree -- -- and the Greek yogurt -- -- a lot of Greek yogurt.

Boy I'm excited for the new use tearful and got to the -- Mexico coming up blog.
