One thing to sit out for me from some of this research is.

That even as a country has added a number of families with children the number of two parent families his declining year after year.

And if you look at these states in fact it's declining almost by half.

In some situations.

-- what is going on here why does this happen.

Well you know there are a lot of different factors but I think unfortunately everybody tends to focus on.

Fathers who have left their children are abandoned their children -- -- and put all of the blame.

On those fathers in many many situations what's happening is is that.

A mom and dad split up maybe they were married maybe they weren't but they split up.

And then after words you know between the mom and the family court system.

Often the father is locked out of his kids' lives -- often he's allowed to have a very minimal role in this kids' lives.

If if any role at all the family court decides that moms the real panic dad isn't she gets sole custody.

Dad is allowed to see -- kids a few days a month if he's lucky if mommy and abides by the the court order so there are a lot of fathers who love their kids -- kids love them -- need them.

And there -- allowed to play only a very marginal role if any role in their kids' lives because of of the system.

Because when you're talking -- two dads who -- involved in every aspect of parenting and I know dads everywhere I turn that are more involved in parenting.

Then.

I've ever seen that the previous generation.

Never changed a diaper never took their kids to school where is this guy I'm everyone I know seems much more involved.

With their kids in the prior generation so.

Maybe and -- the courts involved that's not the case but -- since more involved fathers across the country.

Yeah I think that dads are probably more hands on now than than ever before.

In you know young fathers.

Who gets almost no credit -- often are very very involved in their in their kids' lives even if they're not making a lot of money even if -- not married to the mother.

You know that they're doing a lot.

I would you know defend that the father in the old days to in the sense that you know the gender roles were different.

Those men -- worked very hard dangerous jobs to provide for their kids that was seen as their role as opposed to.

Changing diapers and and you know more hands on -- -- defend those fathers also but I agree with you today's father's very involved.

And there's so many fathers who have have played such a large role in the lives of their children and then as soon as the relationship with the mom -- they they find that they're locked out.

-- if we can't let you go without seeing if there's some -- kind of solution here Glenn what what is the solution to this.

-- that the solution is you know I mean look it's a complicated problem with various aspects but the that the solution is.

To have a presumption of shared parenting.

After there's a divorce or separation assuming that both parents and our fit you know one of them is not drug addict -- crazier violent or whatever but assuming they're both fit.

Not perfect.

But fed.

They -- both play an equal role in their children's lives.

We don't have that right now in the national organization for women a lot of other organizations have fought back.

Tooth and nail its a simple thing I'm sure both of view it as fathers.

You assume that that that that's the way it should be but but in most cases it -- -- thank you say in the industry -- single motherhood is the single leading predictor of poverty and crime in America today south of the moms aren't.

Working hard insist they're not making enough money -- -- having to take care of these kids on their own Glenn.
