Well about a million people filling Times Square last night to bring in 23 team with a bang.

That was the scene and with this new year comes a whole slew.

-- new laws some controversial.

There is.

Some people would find just plain silly all of them taking effect all over the country today and Shannon Bream is live this morning in Washington.

Help me make sense of the ball good morning sad and happy new year.

And -- you as well read well about these laws they -- enough to some group of lawmakers actually get past.

And onto the books and Kentucky it is now illegal to release Ferrell or wild hogs.

Down in Florida swamp buggy is no longer legally considered a motor vehicle and there -- a number of employment related measures as well including these.

In organ it's now illegal for employers to advertise a job opening if they won't consider applicants who are currently unemployed.

And in both Illinois and California starting today.

It's illegal for employers to ask for or require you to hand over the passwords to your social media accounts -- FaceBook and Twitter.

That goes for both applicants and current employees.

Other states birdie enacted similar laws in all more than 29000.

Laws were passed by state legislatures all across the country in 2012 in -- course.

It's been a very busy year at the federal level as well many new regulations stemming from laws passed over the last couple of years will kick in today.

Including an HHS mandate that employers who provide health insurance coverage.

Must make sure it includes free access to a number of birth control message some consider methods considered some of them controversial.

Here's an exemption for those defined as religious employers in the mandate but there are more than forty cases now pending by employers who say.

That's what they are and the Obama administration is refusing to recognize that.

Hobby lobby is believed to be the largest employer challenging that mandate just days ago.

We simply cannot abandon our religious beliefs to comply with this mandate.

Meaning -- companies potentially facing fines of one point three million dollars a day starting today.
