Congressman Jason -- -- of Utah has been one of the leading congressional critics of the state department's handling of Libyan attack.
And originally expected more resignations or or -- people to be forced out last what a week or two ago congressman and now we find out -- not only.
After that that that the -- we thought -- -- are not gonna -- let me just tell them here's what we now Eric Boswell.
He's the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security it.
They said he resigned isn't doing he just shifted his desk he's it's basically desk change and the three -- Charlene lamb -- Maxwell on some other unidentified person.
-- just been placed on administrative leave there's that's not that any -- they're coming back after a little -- Is that true.
Yeah I mean that that's a paid vacation as far as I'm concern today it looks like more of a reward in the bonus for a job club but we -- -- -- Americans.
We got three people were maimed and injured in -- in that firefight.
And no accountability.
You you have an internal review done by the accountability review board they found more than two dozen systemic problems and challenge it changes our challenges.
They had sixty different recommendations I mean that place was an absolute -- and disaster and we -- four dead people and not one person held accountable.
We haven't -- the terrorists that did this in fact the only person who is in jail is the person they created that video which we know now had absolutely nothing to do with the.
What's your information congressman on on whether these folks.
Because initially the reporting.
Was that they had resigned and there was a lot of reporting on that before the Christmas break that they had resigned and and now we find out that they haven't resigned that there were all still getting paid by the taxpayer -- -- -- at the State Department.
One desk shift in and a few others on administrative leave and and then they will resume their duties including Charlene -- the one who told your go to your congress your colleague congressman -- That that the security was that -- on that day well.
That -- it starts at the top when you hear the president of the United States say well it's just sloppiness.
Well there how that he have -- people you have hundreds of embassies and consulates thousands of people still serving overseas.
He had this review board comes in at just over sixty days finds more than two dozen systemic failures.
I don't know and that nobody's held accountable nobody is resigned to it it's just like what we saw quite frankly in fast and furious I mean nobody was really held accountable of that situation as well.
It just seems to be a pattern when the president United States as well it's just a little sloppy you can see where that radiates down and today to the bowels of the organization and nobody's held account while -- -- I mean.
Apparently -- -- or found guilty of of inadequate performance.
But not willful misconduct does that make a difference you.
Well when you have people that are dead as a result of your actions you would think that there be something dramatic that would change in move in this in the and and then to go out see what I have a problem with is the spokesperson from the State Department went out and let the world to believe.
That there -- these four major changes and they talked about how somebody had you know I have resigned DC actually is the word resign but they did it again they miss -- people into believing.
That they had made all these changes all as well the State Department but that is simply not true well.
Boswell resigned his post as assistant secretary -- continuing his other duties.
At state so it's basically just a tidal shift for this guy Boswell has a question about whether.
That lives up to Hillary Clinton's statement that she takes responsibility.
For what happened in -- -- the buck stops with her and the question is.
Do we expect this to be ended did you think -- gonna see more personnel accountability or is this it.
By I -- you know how the State Department holds itself accountable I don't see it because they did that independent review board.
The accountability board but they essentially blamed everybody which means nobody was personally held accountable.
I can't imagine all the deficiencies all the recommendations and not a single person.
Is fired as a result of -- not a single person resigns eight -- you know hey I did I didn't do my job.
It's just absolutely amazing and by the way when they accountability revert review board did its job they did even interview Secretary Clinton she's in charge of the departments they're supposed to go through they're looking at how these people got killed.
And they did even talk to the secretary it's unbelievable.
They seem to conclude that it didn't go up to her level but the question is.
You know you and I've spoken before about the cables that ambassador Stephen sent.
Including on the day he died I mean that they were now begging for more security they were very worried about the growing presence of al-Qaeda and the accountability review board concluded that as well.
And I mean I guess a lot of Americans will be left wondering -- was the person you know do we know to this moment who was the person who look to those cables and said.
No you're not getting them and is what's happening to that person is that -- -- she just gonna get our administrative leave.
Is that paid vacation is that what that is paid -- you get pay.
Yeah oh yeah oh yeah they're getting paid I mean that's what's it's just ridiculous about they spend weeks not having come to work I get paid -- -- that sounds like a paid vacation to me.
The the problem I have is that on June 4 we were bombed there was a terrorist activity in Ben got to bear -- in April but they're -- June 4.
What happened then how can that not rise to the level of the secretary of state -- and then not rise the level the present United States.
There were not changes then and people are yelling screaming asking for more assets.
He had terrorist activity going on there.
Believe me the oversight committee chairman -- them myself others we will continue to pursue this this thing is not done we need to see the information.
We expect to have additional hearings on the foreign affairs committee's gonna do this we're still going on.
It's kind of Jason -- thanks so much for being here.
