A pilot spots a thief robbing his home from midair so what does the -- -- he follows the thief and eventually he helps bust the guy.

Pilot David -- joins us from Miami with his remarkable story morning day event.

Good morning and Allison are giving -- crazy story because as I understand it.

You routinely fly between your homes in Florida and North Carolina so.

On Sunday -- when you fly I should mention you often do a flyover kind of a drive by.

Of your home.

Before you land at the airport now on Sunday when you were doing this fly over your home what did you see.

Well the as you mentioned we we always -- apply to her room and sometimes and fly and over we actually joke about.

You know when they were gonna catch somebody trying to steal something and on Sunday afternoon about 230 when we were fly -- over.

We are about 800 feet and my wife looked out the -- and said -- somebody's in our driveway.

So we literally -- the plane down to very close proximity.

And did have real tight circle and around the house and surely enough there was a person in -- driveway with a truck backed up to -- And what do you do that every did you see a beyond the truck backed up could you see him doing some -- Oh yes oh yes we were at approximately 300 feet above the ground or -- sit and -- in a pretty tight circle.

And you you can see everything at that altitude and we can actually see him walking around the house.

And you know looking into windows and and you know actually.

Seeing if the front door was open.

You know we we observing the whole time our house is very visible from the -- But that's not the the funny part of the story is the fact that.

The gentleman was looking up at us obviously seeing circling him and I guess he just didn't make the correlation that.

He was being watched.

-- it was your house so of course you know there was.

Realize that you can only monitor and you can't stop what he's doing from the air -- tried contacts.

The airport where you'll be landing but you can't get ahold of that -- beating what did you do next.

Well -- I tried to -- airport because it is it is the a class of airport that doesn't have a may end it radio.

So I didn't -- out on that.

Normally I would have a -- -- -- in my plane.

That I can hear over the intercom in my plane.

Didn't have that.

So my only option was to follow the guy until.

He was on -- -- that was long enough I knew that you know we can do -- -- in -- room.

So.

Knew I had to land and quickly call 911 which I did.

The part of the amazing part of this story is.

The last time that I saw him he was turning right.

-- two highway eighty in front of the police station.

And that's kind of frustrating when you're circling above the guy with your stolen trailer thinking that.

The police you know are right there for could just get a hold of him right now they can walk into stores stop.

There -- unaware that -- -- is at a stop light right in front their police station while the -- that we're looking at here is Gary Robert pains.

He's 59 years old he's from Stafford Virginia he was arrested thanks to you -- 911 call upon your landing.

He was charged the grand theft.

Well congratulations.

On spotting -- and helping arrest this guy what's the lesson of the story here.

Well.

You know you're you're stealing sudden somebody's house if there's a plane circling you.

Might be a good idea to just drop it and leave and he just -- everything and left.

He wouldn't be in jail today.

That's a great point David I think that all Roberts should just look up that should be -- But I think -- -- -- -- that's I'm glad all ended well thanks so much for sharing your story -- -- us.

Thank you -- pleasure.
