And Illinois now -- -- local Denny's found itself getting national attention for a fight over food and guns.

It started when the manager of the Denny's in Bellevue Illinois told detectives plain clothes detectives who were wearing badges -- that they could not carry their guns in the restaurant.

The police chief says the detectives have those that is either on their belts or around their necks and were visible.

But the manager still insisted that they take the guns outside and the controversy.

Has gone on up from there we have an update for you on it in a moment.

Joining me now for a fair -- debate Alan Colmes most of the uncle Joseph and Mike Gallagher author read fifty things liberals hate.

A syndicated radio host and Fox News contributor we forgot to mention Alan's book which is like fifty things liberals love dilemma and what is it exactly that -- or saving America will start again why do you ever want him back -- half -- -- So controversy it Danny and me they've got great -- they got great -- cakes but.

-- -- -- do not have a great affinity for undercover police officers or detectives plainclothes detectives.

Who walk in with guns what.

How this happened Mike.

Well it's happening because of all the.

The hysterics.

That are taking place all over America in the aftermath of the of the horrific crime that new town I mean -- you know that that manager that -- that.

-- sort of it's spineless manager would be the first one relying on one of those badge detectives to come to the Denny's restaurant aid if bad guy with the -- showed up I mean.

Listen all of this stuff that we're seeing that you got the kid the six year old who got suspended for doing this you know what -- Without a mile ought to do that I think I am still he got suspended for just take your forefinger and his thumb.

-- for a day it's all happening because of the shrill.

Anti gun -- -- trying to manipulate and maximize.

This this this horrific crime against those precious innocence in -- -- it's disgusting Wayne Lapierre was right.

It whether it's in -- or in a classroom.

The only way to stop a bad guy with the gun is a good guy with the gun and only in this alternate universe of shrill hysterics.

Would we see the good guys the detectives kicked out of this -- well brought Illinois.

Interviews were two good guys with guns they word B word detectives now apparently.

It's.

-- -- the matter was ultimately resolve the meaning they got to a real fight over this Allen where the -- He app police chief said you know what was captain said you know what.

Our detectives are now banned from eating at Denny's -- we want want don't want to have to go through this well they resented that but now that that's the latest news is that now they've they've had a sit down.

In other people got together and and -- apparently allowed you to -- it again.

-- act in front here in the fighter -- -- mice at first of all the whole issue wedlock here is -- -- -- even conservatives -- stop.

Bad guys and having guns in the first place as much as you can that's the whole issue.

But in terms of what happened -- -- We don't need to call the manager cal earlier -- names this is a guy who acted in good faith he thought the policy was the only uniformed officers could carry -- -- to turn out he was wrong about that the general manager interceded.

And once they found that that these were indeed undercover.

Detectives.

It was resolved and there was some jittery enough you'll -- let me finish there -- a jittery customers.

Who really called wanted to please let me Mike please let me -- one what -- -- I didn't interrupt you.

I nobody is that I did -- -- I -- -- wanted topic and I can't.

All right hold on he that he accurately corrected you with one customer but -- I think of my day.

There was one customer and that customer was probably jittery.

Because of what happened in Newtown.

And I think Mike you're making a lot of great broad based statements it was one customer who was jittery this is not -- wildly Wayne Lapierre the NRA.

It was one manager who made an error about the -- company policy and it was correct.

Did that isn't okay and until I -- -- as you like I would hold on hold on.

Because that there a piece of the customers jittery because of -- -- that we understand write me because a lot of people.

You know it's it's just over -- -- still on the heads of most Americans and many others around the world but the question is whether there's been an unfair backlash in the week of Newtown.

Against.

Gun owners as we -- Seeing in in you know Westchester county -- Rockland county in Putnam county New York where they're getting their identities their home addresses to wait -- -- for all the C.

Or even undercover police detectives who now can't.

You know granted it was resolved ultimately but -- initially told get out get out because you have got mega.

And and and speaking of getting out I mean frankly if one patron and it was one not.

Jittery customers as you suggest is speaking of making broad based conclusions -- one customers.

You know you said many can you -- customers -- how we -- at Hilton cannot.

But but the point is the -- customer can leave.

Let him go home and and and and and scramble is -- eggs float down the street where he can be left why should the cops being the ones alone Duval and I and not the -- -- I think you're being a little harsh on a customer -- dog gun didn't know it was a cop.

Talk to the management of the restaurant the manager made an error probably in good faith it was corrected by the general manager and all is good.

Caddies -- the -- -- I ask you I don't know that we knew the customer.

We did not know these were undercover detectives because they're saying they had the badges we we've all seen the cops of the detectives -- -- around their neck.

And I understand the story and I could be wrong to demand a guy who told -- leave the Denny's manager didn't know they were cops initially but I don't know that the.

And edited and no chances are the customer did now and I would guess that that was once it was clarified it -- should have been corrected right there initiative.

Let them stay for the customers of the manager the manager should lose his job as well -- -- with Denny's -- -- is known as an honest understanding about policy.

And he apologized didn't.

Did he apologize but what if -- -- I don't know I don't know that I have -- I don't think he apologized at all I think like Italy although I don't know what we did it.

I was trial but we do know that because of one jittery customer he made the good guys the cops -- reds know they -- jobs at first and he it was well -- had a general manager tried to get them to stay.

Once they knew they were cops now say the -- -- -- it is it good fact that.

Just today to Bellevue police department met with the Denny's director of company operations in the police department has lifted its ban right -- its officers eating at Denny's and thank god that is is -- -- many places you can go and -- -- to be offered the hours that.

He's got awarded the reds are ready to sit there anybody in the end our guys happy new year happy here -- -- -- -- -- guys Carol.
