The president Barack Obama has signed into law and almost ten billion dollar bill to pay what insurance claims from superstore -- but the house has yet to act on a larger.

More comprehensive -- aid package and lawmakers from areas hit hard by the her aides say they need more help and they need it right now joining us now to talk about it.

Democratic congressman from New York Charlie Rangel and Republican congressman from New Jersey a Chris Smith welcome to you both.

Hope we can pick up to pieces of -- -- Again congressman Smith are you on board with that -- are -- in favor of the way that the speaker Boehner broke this sandy supplemental into two parts.

Well obviously Peter king and frankly beyond known many of us -- and I spoke out very forcibly that we wanted to have the vote.

A few days ago on the entire sixty billion dollar package.

You know we did not get the package from the administration it took six of six weeks.

December 7 before we even got the recommendations.

But delay is denial for those people who are suffering and I would argue vehemently that we need to get this money.

As quickly as possible January 15 the -- -- vote as you know on the entire package and then hopefully the satellite very quickly.

And the people who have been now affected by -- we'll get at least some some relief.

To make a difference in their lives.

The congressman Rangel I want -- address -- the issue of pork in this bill which is going to be taken up on January 15 a lot of Republicans are opposed to what they say it's -- -- it up with all kinds of work.

Going -- -- disasters.

In areas unaffected by super -- standard we're looking at the replacement and repair of fisheries and Alaska.

New England -- some of them in the Gulf of Mexico.

There's money in this thing I know to help fund the construction.

Of a tunnel for Amtrak in the northeast quarter what does that have to do with super sort of stand sandy and in this era on the moon.

In this era of of belt tightening how can we just didn't -- that.

If there's any sedated -- -- anything in this bill they shouldn't be the added scrutiny.

In which our House of Representatives and and and -- -- -- and at which it was already stripped if there's any.

Vestiges of that left you can bet your life that we want to know who put -- in the -- -- get it out.

The Alaskan king has a lot to do it us losing in the East Coast a whole lot of fisheries.

I don't know anything remaining in that bill as as we talk and Chris McCarron.

Help us out -- but none of us wanted this to be used as a vehicle and what happened aspects of wrong doing it may -- It had no reason in the world to put this bill over -- new congress that have to start all over.

If there's anything wrong with that bill every member of congress should -- -- put it out.

And that it's not the reasons -- -- get a chance to vote on a bill that is not the reason why it's been split into pieces and that is not the reason why 54.

Let me just say this is senators couldn't perhaps help themselves and senator Reid allowed.

Extraneous spending to be placed on an emergency.

Thankfully the house has taken action and I -- -- credit our Republican leadership how Rodgers in particular.

Who insured and his appropriators.

Radically Israeli housing in particular.

That we are -- that emergency and recovery only.

And all of these extraneous.

Monies that report -- and and and projects have now been excised from the legislation.

Delay is denial my argument is that if you want to begin the recovery part yes we need to pay the overtime and all of that as quickly as possible.

But if you -- to begin a recovery that is robust it has to happen -- new kid.

Contract he can't begin to do that part of the equation.

A recovery you know the building that is needed the infrastructure the roads -- bridges the engineering as well as the construction -- the army corps.

Unless you have the money in hand -- that you can contract and that's what has been missing.

So hopefully by January 15 a couple of days later by the -- down to the White House and signature and we are on our way but again.
