Welcome back after the show show for the new year it's January 7 it's Monday I'm Gretchen Carlson glad to be back and I'm joined by the March of Dimes 2013 ambassador family.

-- -- -- Montes who are from Cincinnati Ohio this is Nina she's seven and you are officially the ambassador for 2013.

What do your friends think about.

The fact that you are a celebrity.

I think it's pretty cool it's wrong yes.

Right there you look great you're wearing the official color of March of Dimes.

And by the way Vince it's the 75 anniversary of March of -- of this makes it adds extra special I would think for you to be the families.

I sure as you know somebody five years of just helping moms and babies starting with polio -- now working with premature.

For charity trying to cure you know make sure that all -- moms and babies have healthy deliveries it's amazing.

Now if you didn't join us for the broadcast show -- the central font.

Honestly so -- -- coming nobody wishes having a premature baby and anybody but.

-- you're a nurse.

Working in a -- Q unit and use us so many families go through this thing yourself inside yourself and -- -- when she's born two punts.

Yeah at you know that it comes out -- -- against.

I think there's definitely families that you know I kind of anticipated timing and you would think that we would have been somewhat prepared.

Given my history in my background working as a nurse practitioner and the -- and -- where you could see me selling the equipment and mean actually was cared for and but in that mound and as a new my mom.

Yeah it was stuffed him you know -- I -- said she looked like a little.

Bird you know I was afraid to even touch -- and we couldn't touch her for awhile which is always hard you wanna bring your.

Your baby right home and be able to hold them in and one and that didn't happen for us with Nina.

So you know I was always afraid to even trying to change -- -- -- these little bird legs and then he felt like you were gonna break every time.

-- -- what you're saying is that even though you were in this field that and tell it happens to you personally.

You don't know exactly what it feels like so what is going to be your message this year you travel across the country thanks to United Airlines will be can be telling people he's swampy.

What's now that there's an organization that's incredible smarts times that's -- dealing actively commanding research and finding and helping.

Doing everything -- -- attended how women have healthy pregnancies and happy he's happy healthy starts and I also think its support for.

For people like.

Going to attend an attack not -- land grant much access to great support group -- for women that are experiencing -- in the making you know.

And it you know sometimes courses and making it for babies are veering very long -- was there for five weeks and it seemed like a lifetime.

For -- while she was there.

The one of the thing though is that you unlike many moms you were somewhat prepared -- had about what was 48 hours to knows he was gonna come slowly yes and so they were able to to pump.

You with what for her long while they gave me stare ions that helped to develop power lines and I think that you know.

That was definitely heat.

-- and ensuring that she had -- men and all respiratory difficulties and we are very fortunate for that must premature babies are you now.

Biggest hurdle in the very beginning -- screening Nina did have some respiratory distress that it.

Really was quite mild compared to what I've seen at a -- characters that I now.

I know from having to pregnancies myself when you get -- those final weeks he gets you want it to be over because you're tired of feeling big.

But one of the other big pushes at the march time -- is.

That even -- final gains have such a great impact on the health of the -- current.

Absolutely there's so many risks that are involved with.

Having a premature babies including you know they're they're lungs are not fully -- they're they're.

Green is not fully matured so having a sexual weak section days really helps -- to prepare them for the outside world and there's nothing like you know having.

A full term term -- because there's nothing -- in the outside world that can support them like being inside as long.

So it's it's truly.

And important to have those extra weeks and days.

You know what mean you're you're the only person in this entire studio actually hot.

Who actually wants to take off her sweater because usually it's about 5060 degrees in here for me it it is sometimes -- lights can be a little.

Hot you can even on -- it doesn't matter where casual around here.

One thing we hope is that in the springtime when lots of people want to get involved with the March of Dimes walks and fundraising that -- were enough to not have this water.

So tell us where people can go fans if they want to get.

Well we're going to be traveling around the country.

Throughout the next few months promoting march march for babies in March of Dimes and through the generosity of united will be visiting a lot of local chapters maybe been -- -- close to books that are watching and being able to.

Walk with them at their local walks and there are everywhere around the country so they can logon to march for babies dot -- And check out their local chapter check -- the local walk and -- go ahead and it's a great event all inspiring thousands of people marching for.

Very just cause -- They should be probably be part of it.

Well I'm proud to be a spokesperson for the march at -- been involved for.

Years and and one of the most heartwarming things that -- to all the work that -- times is doing is paying off it's premature to campaign.

When we are all at this conference in October we found out that the national rate in the United States supreme maturity has gone and so this work.

It's doing something and we still have a lot of work to do but it's gone down from.

What was it twelve point 8% in 2011211.

Point 7% that right.

So every state doing their part to.

Trying to increase -- preterm.

Her it's what we're so glad to meet you -- And I hope you have a fantastic -- is the ambassador.
